Candicci's Restaurant & Bar
We at CANDICCI’S are proud to serve you fine Italian cuisine - pasta, veal, seafood, chicken and beef dishes - made from only the freshest ingredients.
When I first opened CANDICCI’S in 1980, I took as my model the wonderful neighborhood ristorantes that populate New York’s famous “Little Italy” section. I wanted to recreate that special intimate ambience - a blend of attentive, friendly service, casual atmosphere and classic Italian cooking.
The food was awful
Candiccis is always great food at a great price! Impressive that the owner, Bob, walks around and checks on everyone. This particular visit we felt our server had too many tables and we didn’t get the level of service we have before. I’m sure not his fault. It will continue to be one of our go to places.
Stopped in for the first time with family. I certainly picked the wrong entree which was raspberry chicken. The served me a full head of broccoli and three over cooked chicken tenderloin no more than 3oz worth. The raspberry sauce tasted like watered down jelly. This entree was $15.99 totally disappointing. They could not even serve me a full chicken breast. My wife and kids ordered traditional pasta. If you order pasta you will be okay, can’t say much for the rest of the menu.
Had reservations for 4 on a Saturday night. They sat us towards the front of the restaurant fairly close to the door (not in the rear of the restaurant which has better ambiance and does get hit with the cold each time door held open. Not a huge deal but seeing that we had reservations would have preferred the nicer location (did not say anything to them since it really was OK). Service was slow and did not see server often. We had a couple of glasses of wine each but sat with empty water glasses for most of the meal since server did not return after food was brought to table. But food was excellent which made up for it all. And yes, would recommend it.
Food was terrible, salad had large chunks of iceberg lettuce, and soggy.
Candicci’s is the best Italian restaurant that I’ve eaten at in St. Louis. Everything was delicious, they handed out flowers for Valentine’s Day, had good musicians performing, and the owner came out to great us before we left. Candicci’s is my go to for fine Italian.
The food is outstanding. We can't visit very often due to the distance, but the trip is extremely worthwhile
Great dinner celebrating Valentines day. We sat in the bar area and enjoyed excellent seafood and pasta. Very good service on a very busy night.
We had a party of six and had made a reservation...turned out to be a good idea on a Saturday night. Everyone had a different entree, and all were good. Only drawback was that one of our party had suggested Candicci’s in the first place because they had gluten-free pasta...and they were out of it! The gluten-free pizza she substituted was good...but not pasta! Music was good but had we been sitting closer to the duo it would have been difficult to carry on a conversation. Overall a good experience.
Salmon special a bit dry and some of asparagus tough. Have had better food here before.
Good dinner but we were disappointed in the pizza this time. Everything else was awesome. The service was very good as usual.
The only negative thing about the service, was how long it took our server to notice that we were done so that we could get our bill. He was busy, but we felt ignored for awhile. We went because of the live music and to hear someone we knew. The food was fine but when we want the best Italian food, we stay a little closer to home and go to The Hill. We're also not fans of provel cheese, and Candicci's seems to put it on just about everything. However, they did sub mozzarella on my meal at my request.
Great food, plenty of service. Good time.
Don’t like when I get dirty silverware. No excuse for that!
Great dinner at Candicci’s with the family. There is always a great special to try. The Surf and turf was excellent. We also ordered at Sicilian steak was very good as well. Excellent service this visit as well.
Everything was mediocre.
We have a Christmas Eve tradition to dine here. So festively decorated. Wonderful lasagna. Waiter was warm and friendly. Like being with family. We enjoy their patio as well in nice weather.
Restaurant was not crowded, but it took a long time to get our food. Once it arrived, one order of their "special" was way under cooked (Salmon) and was returned to the kitchen. Plate did not arrive back until after everyone else at the table finished eating. Waiter and Manager/Owner didn't seem to really care. They reluctantly removed the entree from the bill, after we pointed out that it had not been. But they did not apologize or offer us anything else in return. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
Everything was perfect. Food, Service and value. Even with several large Christmas parties the overall experience for our party was great.
Just seemed like server always had an edge in his voice. Seemed bothered much of time.
Food was just ok. The chicken dinner dish I got looked like a kiddie portion. Thankfully a friend of mine decided we would split what she got and I got. Unfortunately the lasagna was loaded with so much ricotta that it wasn't a great consolation.
3 of us were celebrating a birthday. We had a reservation on a busy Friday evening, and wdre seated upon arrival. Service was prompt and attentive. We each had wine. 2 of us ordered the blackened salmon (a special). One of us ordered tortellini from the menu. Salads were included with our orders. Food & drinks were delicious. There was live accordian music being played throughout our visit. All was good with one exception. The server consistently served the gentleman in our group before the ladies. Candicci's has been a St. Louis staple for years, and has a well-deserved, excellent reputation. Servers should be instructed to serve ladies first.
the food was good and the place was very well laid out.
Don’t go. It was awful. Despite having a reservation and the restaurant being almost empty, we waited at the podium to check in and it took more than 10 minutes and 3 people just to figure out where to seat us, as the hostess was nowhere to be found. While we were waiting and during our dinner, several phone calls came in with people complaining about their take out orders. The only good thing about the meal was the bread and the salad. I ordered veal piccata which came with a side of pasta. The veal was tough and chewy and the piccata sauce looked like loose lemon pudding and didn’t taste homemade at all. The side order of pasta at this Italian restaurant was over cooked curly pasta from a box with sauce that also didn’t taste homemade. The owner asked how everything was as he walked by without even stopping to hear the answer. I’ve had better Italian food at Olive Garden. Overall, it was a very disappointing dining experience.
Each of the four of us ordered something different, and everything was excellent. We also had plenty to take home for the next day. One of the best Italian restaurants I have been to!
Saturday night and they were obviously understaffed. Waited almost 5 minutes before anyone greeted us at the check in (we had reservations) seated almost 10 min. before a waiter appeared. Ordered drinks, took about 15 min. ( my martini had to be returned as it had no gin in it) Our waiter took care of it immediately. When our dinner arrived, mine was cold (husband’swas not) Again, the waiter immediately had it reheated. The food was good, as was the service, but very slow.
Candicci's is always solid. The toasted ravioli combo is awesome. Service is great and it's fun to have a local place with music on a Friday night. Ask for Jim- he is a great server!
Had the Daily special and steak prepared nicely with great tasting roasted potatoes. My wife had the chicken gorgonzola which I sampled and wished I had also ordered...great! The kitchen did send her pasta with red sauce when she wanted the white. Server fixed issue by bringing out a side dish of pasta with white sauce. Unfortunately, the sauce was thin and watery. Salads were spot on. Bread and olive oil dip were also spot on. We live nearby and always say we should eat here more often. We still feel that way. It's a moderately priced restaurant that consistently has very good dishes.
The service and the food was great. Our waiter was very helpful and was attentive.
Dinner for my Birthday, and I checked their web site several times and they had a group playing music that I wanted to hear and when we arrived No Music...
Enjoyable and the food was very good. Accommodated our requests. Service was excellent.
We had not dined a Candicci's for several years. My wife and I had pasta dishes and the client had the salad. The salads were very good; however, we were embarrassed to send ours pasta's back. I called the restaurant the next day to discuss our disappointment and we were told that the manager would call us. As of today, we have not received a response.
A little garlicky for my tastes, but it is an Italian restaurant. 😏
we had a party of 12 that turned into , they were very kind with that and said no problem. the server was excellent and the food delicious.
Candicci's handled a large dinner group flawlessly. The orders were taken on time and everyone got what they ordered. Timely service bringing out bread, water refills, and take home boxes. We all enjoyed our dinners as well.
Food we excellent!
Mother's Day dinner great food and excellent service.
Mother’s Day - had problems locating my reservation did eventually find it Sat me in the bar. No waiter service. Good cold - poor overall. - hopefully only because of Mother’s Day buffet
Wonderful Mother’s Day brunch. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Very nice time!
The food is delicious and served piping hot. We have eaten here before so we knew what to expect food wise and were not disappointed. There was beautiful acoustic guitar music coming from the bar area. We should have told the musician how much we enjoyed his playing but failed to do so. We did however mention it to our waiter and the hostess as we left. It was a Friday night. Our waiter was superb - friendly, and just the right amount of attentive. An enjoyable evening on all counts.
