Campo - Reno
great service, super quick & delicious food!
We were told the soup of the day was asparagus, however at our noon reservation there was not enough to serve 5 of the 7 of us. Very disappoint in the portion sizes -- Blackened fish (Swimmer) was about a 1/3 of the size of bun, the BIG salad served with a piece of grilled chicken that was less than the size of the opening in a small wine glass ($18), the Mini Caramel Budino which should have been a custard was soupy, the salad served with Plate Lunch was made with wilted greens. Water was placed on the table with the promise of returning to get additional beverages, this never happened and dishes were never cleared. I have eaten here before and regularly visit the Sparks location, this lunch was a Great Disappointment .
My daughter chose Campo for her UNR graduation dinner. I made the reservation 2 months ago. They sat 7 of us at a bar type table next to another one and we were cramped. My husband kept getting bumped and my father in law had to stand because he was cramped between the tables. Food was good, waiter was good, atmosphere was horrible for spending $400.
Wonderful host but it stopped there. Gave us 1 menu for their Sparks location which had different items. Forgot to bring us the appetizers; did bring with meals and comped. Brought wrong salad entree and ended up comping. Two out of 5 dishes had to be comped. Not good.
Very disappointing. Incredibly slow and bad service. Food is expensive yet servings are very small. Waiter seemed bothered by doing his job. We won’t be back.
Sitting outside was nice. We used the online reservation and we were immediately seated. We felt the service was slow. Took a long time to get our drink. Waitress was very friendly. Salad was $22 (I added steak) which is high! Overall I would recommend to a friend because you should go at least once.
Campo is always a difficult decision- usually because there is such attitude from the hostess and then the service will either be fantastic or absolutely terrible. This has to have been our best experience in a while, which I attribute to sitting at the bar. You can’t revive bad service if your server is directly in front of you. Loved the bartender though- he was really on top of things and made sure we had our food in a reasonable time, plates, and full drinks (things not typically guaranteed at Campo). We made reservations because we were really craving the bee sting pizza after running a big race. Otherwise, we would have eaten someplace else. Thank goodness we found seats at the bar, an hour and 40 minutes after our reservation, the hostess still hadn’t called us for a table and Campo had shut down their entire front dining area...on Mother’s Day! Bottom line- the food can be really good. Go with low expectations for service. Sometimes you’ll be surprised.
They did not acknowledge the birthday I advised we were there for
Great location and atmosphere, but the service struggled a bit. Food was good, but could also use some polishing.
Good menu choices. Ciapino didn't have much fish. Chocolate cake was very good. sliders and frys were great. Our group was mixed on the appetizers.
Awesome as usual! Great food, great service.
We were extremely disappointed in the food and there were at least three things from the menu that were not available.
We arrived at 11:30 before our 1:00 play. We received our food at 12:35 after asking for the manager. The group of ladies next to us who got there at 11:45 never got their order and had to leave for the play. So sad the kitchen was so slow because we always went to Campo before our play on Sunday.
Food was awful, service was slow. We didn't even get what we ordered. I will not return.
The location by the river is beautiful and conveniently close to the pioneer center. Unfortunately it was about half an hour before someone took our order and another 45 minutes before we received our foot (lukewarm mediocre flatbread pizzas). Suddenly everyone was super attentive while we were trying to eat quickly in order to make the show. Three different people asked how we were doing within a span of about 5 minutes. Since the food was not great and took so long, we ordered dessert from one of them, who assured us it wouldn’t take long. After another 20 min we learned that order was never “put in” and they were out of part of said dessert selection anyway 😂 We received no water refills as the waitress was quite distracted by the bus boy. She was, however, very prompt about the bill and attempted to take it before we received our partial dessert or even had a chance to sign it. The entire experience took nearly two hours (about 15 minutes of which was rather rushed eating) before we rushed to the show
Very slow service and the food was certainly not worth the price.
Great food! Especially the Bee Sting pizza, we had that as an appetizer.
This restaurant is on the Truckee River. It is a lovely venue and the food, service and ambiance are all fantastic! Highly recommend!
The tables are sticky. Bad for business
Food was nice, and of good quality. But...the service left a lot to be desired. Between dropping off the menu and being able to order: 20 min. Server was at neighboring tables, but he never looked over even once. Probably also because of the delay, there was no "rare" in the two "medium-rare" steaks. We still like Campo, and will come back, but we will avoid this server.
Great spot right on the Truckee River, we went early for lunch which was good. Service was good, food was good, a bit pricey for what it was, however, I think the ambiance offsets it.
service was horrible asked for food order then drinks one ordered an absolute with no lime and olives on rocks got a lime no olives finally got wine and beer out of wine glasses. my food Rigatini Campo cold , no bread offered at all no silverware. asked for parmesan got dropped off on a fly by but all done with meals. when picked up plates told her it was cold she said oh im sorry walked away brought ck
The location is right on the river which is great. The restaurant itself seems current and fun. Food is nothing special and service is mediocre.
Food arrived cold. The server was great and did bring us fresh hot french fries as the fries were ridiculously cold. My chicken sandwich was dry and cold. My friends pork sandwiches were room temp and unremarkable. Beer and wine were very good. The place wasn't busy, so I am not sure what happened. Was disappointed as this place had high ratings and good reviews.
Very disappointing experience. Had to send our food back. Our server was polite, and handled the situation properly.
Honestly I was looking forward to eating here because I saw a prior review that stated they made accommodations for being vegetarian. So I simply asked for vegetables to be added to my pasta instead of the meatballs and they were happy to accommodate me. It was delish and everyone was happy with their options as well.
High quality farm to table food. Terrific service and cozy ambiance in a terrific location next to the river. A bit pricey ($14 garden salad)but worth it for the delicious, healthy food.
It’s a lovely place but the pizza was not great and the service is very slow!
Wow! This place was amazing. I live in Walnut Creek and Campo beat all of my faves.
great appetizers great ambiance good drinks
i woukd go again!
Got a recommendation in’s Reno for locally sourced, organic, healthy dinner for “date night” with my wife. Campo was the recommendation.
Caitlin was amusing and engaging and made some great jokes. Our cocktails were well balanced. The locally sourced NY steak was tasty and well prepared. The duck fat potatoes were just the right complement to the steak.
All were a great backdrop to a quiet evening with a lovely lady. Will definitely return when we are in Reno.
Gave this place two tries. Last year it was great. This visit- steak ordered to medium rare came out nearly void of pink. Ordered starter and was told they could accommodate allergies. Took a bite - hot with spices. Can’t eat. Brought second plate without grilling in garlic as originally promised. Waitress was great. But many other “allergy safe” restaurants for me in Reno. Won’t go back. $$$
Very glad that we stopped by Campo. The food, service, and location were perfect!
Budino is sooo yummmy! Portions are just right. Will surely go back in a heartbeat.
Very good upscale, innovative food with an Italian flair in a casual atmosphere. On this Saturday night the service was very good considering that the restaurant was extremely busy. My only complaint is that the noise level was so high that my dining partner and I had a hard time hearing each other speak.
Yes and No. Not definitive. Concern with only one jar of Jam that was brought to our table then taken from our table to other tables. Very unsanitary and Campos is setting them selves up for food borne illness if not worse. Recommend correct immediately.
Excellent food and service. Noise level was a bit high, but booths were ok.
We love going to Campo when we are in town for our annual convention. Have enjoyed the tasting menu and the pizzas two years in a row.
We were the last table to be served that night because it was 8:30 on a Sunday night. We started by ordering an appetizer which was the burrata cheese with pesto, sun-dried tomato paste and crackers. Seriously one of the best I have ever eaten! I want to replicate that! Next, we ordered a Kale Caesar salad. This was pretty tasty. Finally, we ordered a pizza with pesto and chicken on it. It had good flavor but crust was way to charcoaled! The crust was cracking in our mouths in every bite. In addition, it took like 40 min from the time we ordered until the time when we received the pizza. Our waiter was very good looking (he looked like a model) but acted like he had aspirations over and above that job because he wanted the least to do with our table as possible. All in all though, the food here was fairly good and the price was very reasonable. I would definitely come back again.
I thought the food was very good but a bit pricey. Our waiter was inattentive.
