Campo - Reno
Overall decent food. Was little slow but overall was decent place.
Showed up one hour earlier, hostess sent us as according to her it’s full. Left, changed the reservation on open table, all time slots available, return 15 minutes later and she is all welcoming out of a sudden. No pizza not spaghetti that night as the cook didn’t show up. Ended up getting all salty starters. Oh my, that was 80 dollars badly spent. So bad we had to get a cake in one of the casinos after
There's no polite way to say it. Our experience was just... awful. Specifically:
- It took one hour for even our salads to arrive. Yes, we sat for a full hour before we could pick up a fork. From the looks of things, so did everyone else.
- They were "out of pizza" and "out of red sauce." (Note this is an Italian restaurant specializing in pizza. I wanted to ask if they had also run out of olive oil and pasta...)
- Speaking of pasta, when my Bolognese pasta dish finally arrived, it tasted like Hamburger Helper, to the extent it tasted like anything at all.
I wish I could say something that didn't sound so harsh. It is a nice setting by the river, and perhaps their pizzas are great. But as I said, we wouldn't know because they supposedly ran out of pizza dough (or, as strongly we suspected given the eternal wait for anything to come out of the kitchen, a cook to make them).
I can't imagine this place surviving the year. And if it can't do far better than our experience, it shouldn't.
We made a reservation for 9:45 AM so we could have breakfast before a movie. They said they wouldn't be open and that the times were wrong, but they let us in anyway and we had coffee until the kitchen was open. We ordered a Bloody Mary that was excellent. It wasn't a huge extravaganza with umbrellas and sparklers; it was flavorful house-made Bloody Mary mix, just the right amount of spice and vodka. Our breakfast was wonderful. Again, so much care is taken to make every ingredient delicious, from house-made sausage and lox, to meticulously fried potatoes, to perfectly seasoned hollandaise. The service was friendly and helpful, and we had a wonderful meal!
Out of eight meals served, 4 were returned as they were cold or under cooked. Butternut squash gnocchi had very small pieces of butternut squash and large pieces of mushrooms.
Good food. Good service. The only complaint I would have is that the online menu did not match the physical menu on location.
Very slow service.
Amazing food, very reasonable prices. Can’t wait to go back for the Pork Tomahawk dinner!!!
Overpriced and under delivered. Haven’t been in a few years and wanted to give it another chance. Was not impressed. Again. Had the salmon with basil mashed potatoes, it was nothing special for $32 and slightly cold. My husband had the cioppino.... again, nothing special for $30 bucks and my daughter had a small margherita pizza, decent, $20. Add two rounds of less than great cocktails and an appetizer and a decent tip and we were out the door less $175. Mehhhhhhh.... no, thanks.
Because I requested a vegetarian pizza, my pizza request came back incorrect. The kale salad (always a favorite), was a bust with wilted kale. and, lastly, the bolognese sauce on our rigatoni tasted like bbq sauce.
Definitely doubt that we’ll go back anytime soon.
I’ve been to Campo in the past and loved it. Unfortunately, they changed there menu (but have not updated their website with the changes). I was hoping for the bone marrow appetizer and the pork platter, but neither were on the menu anymore. The staff was nice enough, but the entire meal just felt lackluster. Overpriced burger and unimpressive New York steak. I was definitely disappointed and won’t be returning.
Don't go if you only have 2 hours to eat or during Nutcracker season. Had a 6pm reservation for a show (not the Nutcracker) at 8pm. Took an hour to get our one appetizer and had no entrees at 7:30 so we had to leave without eating. Server said it was due to large party in the back. Manager said everyone needed to be done for the Nutcracker at 8pm. So why did we get a reservation. If you can't accommodate the time of our reservation, don't accept reservations. Two hours is a reasonable time to get in and out. Will not be going back.
The food and atmosphere were awesome and the large party accommodation for my husband's birthday was perfect, he had a great time. The best part was our server Anthony who really went out of his way to make us feel special and provide amazing service. We will be back!
Terrific downtown location across from the theatre attracts local crowd and tourists alike. Tasty homemade pasta dishes, unique dinner entree’s, a very good meatless burger and a great Happy Hour drink menu to boot. Highly recommend.
Overpriced. Waited an hour for appetizers and one pizza.
We love going to Campo (downtown)! The food is always exceptional and the ambience is great.
Excellent food! Service isn’t the best...
What a nice farm-to-fork restaurant outside of a casino but not far from the action! Sage was a great server with excellent suggestions and command of her bar and food menu. She guided us thru the choices and selections based on our tastes and preferences while also highlighting the unique and high-quality offerings at Campo. The tomahawk pork chop was a winner as was the off-the-menu dark draft beer selection! Our party of 5 were all satisfied but wished we had room for dessert.... next time.
The food was amazing!!! Service was not that great. Both compos lack on their service!
Anthony is awesome!!
We usually love dining at Campo with our whole family. But tonight was really off. We were seated quickly with our reservation in the back room. The back room does not have good ambiance to start off with and we were placed in the middle of the room at a round table. Our server took our order in a timely manner but we could not hear what she was saying so we basically had to guess about the special fish and soup. My wine and my husbands wine were both the house cabernet. His pour was a decent size mine was half. I didn't see our server for about 15 mins so I just drank it. We were served our appetizer and salad on time but our dinner came out 35 minutes after our soup and salad was served. The special fish was horrible. The fish was salty and the mush underneath it was overcooked. My sons gnocchi tasted so bad no one at the table could take more than one bite and it was served cold. My daughter got her meal 5-7 minutes after the rest of us had ours. Her meatballs were inedible. The red sauce was bitter - like it had gone bad. We had to ask twice for someone to check on our meal and once we got the disappointing dishes we never saw anyone again until check time.
Went for lunch mid-week. Service was very friendly, nice space, good location ( though , unless you park in the garage, good luck finding street parking w/i 5 block radius). Good variety on menu, prices are reasonable...but the food is just not worth going there. I had the chicken sandwich but it was slathered in pesto. I scraped some off, then it was fine. Had the crispy polenta instead of fries and they were ok. My friend had the pasta carbonara, it was somewhat bland. The dessert...my friend had the tiramisu and it was ok. I had the butterscotch pudding and it was so bad I left more than half of it. If they could fix the food end of the restaurant this place would be a neighborhood gem.
Ggreat service, good food, a little noisy. Doesn't seem like fine dining as far as setting and ambience. A good bar setting kind of restaurant.
The food is over rated ... very average
Your best bet is just a Pizza, and/or Salad and beer (good beer options)
We tried the pork platter ... $30 worth it was not! a half sausage!, a couple of 'thin' slices of not so special pork and a piece of pork belly. Ridiculous price. Not what you expect when you order a platter.
Kale salad was good. Pizza good.
Super friendly and attentive. Food was fantastic
We'd been here before and we expected the same excellent food and service. This time, Campo missed the mark. The service was inattentive and the food was mediocre. The tomahawk pork chop, billed at 18 oz. was more like 10 oz. of bone and 2 oz. of fat. It, like the halibut my wife ordered, was way over salted. The manager quickly apologized and removed it from the bill, but soon after our server seemed to lose interest in our table and was infrequently seen after that.
Food was very good. However, it took a long time before our order was taken and then about 45 minutes for our food to come out.
great service, great food & great outdoor seating area made a get together with friends easy & enjoyable!
Great food, great drinks and friendly staff! Overall a great experience, we will be back
The food and atmosphere were both excellent, as in the past. We're big fans of the menu and the downtown river vibe that Campo exudes.
What a letdown for us and our guests. It started out well with good service and the servers were accommodating to allow us to sit next to the railing by the river, so we waited for them to clear and set a table that had freed up as we had arrived. We chose the Crispy Polenta for an appetizer and that turned out well. Unfortunately, when we ordered our entrees everything failed. Our guests ordered a V.P.N. Margherita pizza that was not completely cooked and soggy in the center, my wife's cioppino del mar was (according to her) was delicious, however an hour later she was getting itchy and two hours later she had broken out in hives and had to take a couple Benadryl to abate her reaction to what had to be some old or spoiled shrimp. Since we both had Salmon we cooked from Costco the night before without any such reaction to seafood we know it wasn't her simply being 'sensitive' to seafood. For me it was an unbelievably simple order that was completely botched. I ordered their burger with fried mushrooms and the only part cooked properly were the mushrooms. I ordered the burger cooked medium-well (since it's not a good idea to eat hamburger undercooked) and what arrived was a burger cooked rare to medium-rare. I informed the waitress when she came by to check on us and she offered to send it back, but I told her no - it would be fine. I didn't want to send it back since it's unclear what will happen to my food when it gets sent back to the cook and if the cook couldn't cook something as simple as a hamburger patty correctly the first time I had no confidence they could do it correctly a second time. The server had the manager remove it from our bill, which was nice and appropriate, but there simply were way too many problems with our meal (and the fact we were entertaining out-of-town guests here) that we would not recommend this place and have no reason to return. Eat here at your own risk.
Poor service. Our luck we sat at table next to the owner who garnered all of the attention. Poor service model. Won’t go back of recommend.
When visiting our family in Reno we usually have a meal at Campo. In the nice weather it is really fun to sit outside by the river. We have recommended Campo to people who are going to Reno.
It was ok.. nothing at all like the “farm to table” they tout. Perhaps its that I am spoiled where I live with lots of delicious cuisine. It was highly rated in yelp. Hmmm. Pretty standard fare in my opinion.
Came in on a Monday and they were out of the short rib ravioli and also the fettuccine. Ordered the all meat pizza and it was OK—very greasy. Service and cocktails were GREAT!!
Service was abysmal. Hosted seated us promptly but that’s where the good service ended. We were not acknowledged by a waiter although they were serving tables all around us. I had to go back to the hostess to ask for a waiter to come to our table. It was easily 40 minutes before someone took a drink and appetizer order. We must have been seated between two zones in no waiters land because we ultimately had three servers bringing us our meal in a hodgepodge and ridiculously slow manner. At the end I practically had to beg for the check.
The food was fine. Fancy cocktails were not good. Seems the ingredients did not blend well together. Location was great out on patio overlooking the river.
Delicious pizza al fresco with beautiful river view
Went for a business dinner. No one took our order for a good hour +. Food took quite a while to come out as well
Not a bad experience, but not what we’ve experienced in the past. Service was decent, food was definitely good but not outstanding as the bill should reflect. $185 dinner for 2 with 1 $45 bottle of wine, no dessert.
campos was great, good food, service but way way to load. i have a noise app that registered it as very loud unhealthy for hearing and possible damaging. also open table once again failed to have my reservations as at campos. got
there and they had no record. thanks for nothing open table.
