I went there for my wife’s birthday this time. I have been to Campo many times in the past. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Mammoth. Once again they didn’t disappoint.
We come up to Mammoth a lot on weekends and this place is always booked. We got an early reservation our last weekend of ski season and had a great family dinner. Things are pretty authentic Italian - egg on top of salad or in pasta. I feel like the menu could be expanded but we enjoyed what we ordered. It was a fun night out. The portions were huge for kids meals..
Had the best server ever! Made the night. The bacon burger was tasty. Still like the blue cheese/arugula one better (hope they brint it back).
Our expectations exceeded the reality of dining here. Whilst the food was ok and the atmosphere good there is no excuse for delivering the second course to the table before the first course was finished.
It seemed like the staff wanted to get us in and out so they could close by 9 pm
Don’t book at 8 pm or you’ll suffer the same fate.
Don’t bother with the risotto. The pizza was quite good.
One out of four dishes ordered was decent. Service was mediocre. Pastas, though impressed because they tasted homemade, the sauces were lacking. Menu stated that kids eat free on Sundays during certain hours. Turns out except on Easter Sunday though there was no change in the menu.
The food was delicious and the portions were generous!! We ordered 2 different salads and 2 different pizzas and they were both great! The special risotta had very creative ingredients and tasted delicious. I would definitely return!
We were celebrating my wife's birthday at Campo. We have been a couple of times before. Both lunch and dinner. Never disappointed. After a day of skiing at Mammoth Mountain we enjoyed both the food and service. The special I had was Mahi Mami. It was delicious.
Portions were large! We ordered the special soup and risotto. Loved it. Nice place to eat in Mammoth.
One of my favorite places to eat in Mammoth!
Loved it. Portions are large and good for sharing so order light but service was perfect & our waiter had great recommendations. I’d give the whole experience a 10/10!
We've been to Campo in the past and have enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this past visit was very different and VERY disappointing... The hostess was not pleasant nor knowledgeable (did not know what a "corkage fee" was), the menus were stained, crumpled and dirty, the server took at least 12+min to come to our table and did not have a friendly greeting (just asked us if we were "ready to order"), all of our water & wine glasses were filthy (gritty w/ water & lip stains), the pizza was undercooked, the fritto misto was over-fried and over-salted, the list goes on and on...
I know the table next to us complained about something and looks like they received a comp bottle of wine. I did not see a Manager presence on the floor, so that may have been part of the issue, but your service, cleanliness and food quality definitely needs to be buttoned up. We were so disappointed, and considered writing about our experience on Yelp, but felt that it was more appropriate to allow you to address this first. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions regarding our poor experience.
Campo is a friendly restaurant in the main Village but other than convenience I would not recommend it. Out of three main dishes, only one (a simple salmon special) was okay. One of sent back a pasta carbonara that was more like a sticky cheese and cream dish. Another ordered a seafood risotto that was literally swimming in oil and butter. The final dish - an overpriced basic salmon special of the night - was okay enough. Other specials like a veal chop were outrageously ($49) overpriced for what is basically a chain concept restaurant (HQd in Reno?) in a ski village.
Hostess did not appear to want to be there, threw menus down in a pile, and didn't even have enough menus for our party. Each menu was coated in food.
Table service was friendly, but missed a few beats.
Food was bland, and even a few ingredients were missing from dishes.
5th visit, Campo has slipped and lost much of its previous merits.
The staff is very friendly, exceptional service and great food.
Food is fantastic, portions are generous, dessert is amazing and location is superb.
Went here for Valentine’s Day. Food was mediocre and service was horrendous. So many other great options to choose from in the village. I wouldn’t go back.
Amazing daily specials... amazing wine
I just like walking into Campo. The ambience is very inviting. The food is always tasty. The wait staff is exceptionally friendly.
Loved the cauliflower appetizer and the caramel dessert!
Campo is the hot ticket in Mammoth for your after ski meal. The ambiance is fun, the location is at the center of the Village and the food is great. We had craft beers, pizza, pasta , appetizers and salad, and all were fantastic. I recommend the Frito Misto appetizer, it was perfect. You can't do better for a dinner in Mammoth, but everyone else knows about it, so you need to book your reservation 2 weeks in advance. And the best part is....the price is very reasonable.
Accommodating hostess for nice table off to side for birthday. Waiter excellent for recommendations of food and wine. Amazing Cesar salad. Service became non existent later that evening when we had to ask busboy for coffee and others for check.
We go to Campo every time we visit Mammoth and always have a fabulous experience!
As ever a surprisingly solid Bucatini Carbonara for a captive restaurant in a tourist trap. Definitely outperforms expectations. Great for a casual meal.
As with most places in the village, Campo is another overpriced restaurant with bad food. The service is mediocre, at best and you're lucky if you get a table. The only good thing is the location. Based on the food, we won't be going again.
We sat for 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us... we notified hostess of this and she did nothing..very disappointed..
Everything we had was salty
Service has really gone downhill at Campo!
We had reservations thanks to Open Table, so we were seated pretty quickly. But they didn’t assign us a server for 30 minutes after I asked the bartenders if I could place my order with them. Unfortunately, the server still acted like we didn’t exist. Food was overly priced and greasy. Not a good experience.
We ate here last year and loved it. We were looking forward to our 3 nights of reservations at Campo this week. We asked if they had new owners since it was much different than last time. This is a funny restaurant. Some of the staff act as if you are lucky to eat at Campo. A bit of a snootiness if you dare ask the host/hostess a question. Very unimpressed. Food was no longer available after we reviewed menu. They ran out of the chicken dish,” which no one bothered to tell us. main entrees came out before appetizers. Appetizers were cancelled because the cooks did not prepare, daughters pasta not fully cooked “noodles hard and chewy. “ Food came to table with no available silverware. Salad came out after entrees. We had to wait to eat food so they could clean silverware. Daughters beet salad was not prepared as last year and new version is awful. The $100.00 bill was not worth it. Had a much better pizza and salad at Z pizza for a fraction of the price. Cancelled reservations for the other two nights. Husband saw manager dismiss our waiter who told her that we did not like the beet salad. This was my daughters dinner as she waited patiently while everyone else received their dinner. Who is running this frat house? Maybe it was an off night but we are no longer interested in going back to Campo.
I can honestly say this was the most poorly run restaurant or business I have ever been to. A total train wreck. Our waitress was great! We felt so sorry for her, it seemed like she was the only one taking orders for the whole restaurant. No one would help her, and there seemed to be plenty of servers and workers milling around. Every table around us was having issues. It was as if the whole staff wanted the waitress to fail. From the start, reservations were at 7:30 we weren’t seated until 8:15. We had to wait an additional 15 minutes at our table just for menus . Appetizers took forever to come out and when they did we told the server we needed utensils. He never returned. Our waitress came over to check on us maybe 15-20 minutes after our apps were served and noticed we hadn’t started eating because we didn’t have forks. She ran to get us some and as soon as we started to take a bite of our appetizers they brought out our entrees. My husband and I ordered the same pasta and mine was so dried out and terrible it was almost hard from sitting under the heat lamp for so long. It was totally different than my husbands. My son ordered a pizza that never came and when we told a server he said he would check but never came back, when our waitress checked on us again we told her. Sge said they hadn’t made one so they were making us a fresh one. Two seconds later a server came out with one? The first drink I ordered was delicious and spicy, when I ordered a second it came out totally different . I told the waitress and she asked bartender to make another but he poured the drink in a different glass and gave it to us? Literally from start to finish it never got better. We really liked some of the dishes but the experience was so bad it made everything bad. I know every person around us at every table was dissatisfied. I kept expecting management to come over to our table or any table but they never did. It was appalling, and felt unbelievable to be so bad!!!
The restaurant did not have a reservation they gave us a seat next to the bathroom and the floors and seats were filthy
Service was poor the food was cold and greasy and they over charged me $47 and later fixed it .
Used to be good has gone downhill
This is my 3rd experience at Campo, so I feel like I now have enough visits under my belt to properly review. Sadly, this is one of my least favorite restaurants in Mammoth. The food has generally been bland every time, even when I try to order something that looks like it might be flavorful. The kids spaghetti always has almost no Marinara sauce. The service is adequate, has been hit and miss. For this, the price is on the higher side. Nothing horrible, but I won’t be coming back as there has been nothing to draw me in either.
Was pleasantly surprised. Pasta was delicious. They had vegan soup which was excellent.
Our waiter was really bad. He was very inattentive. We placed our order including a bottle of wine that sat at the bar for twenty minutes. When our food was delivered to our table (by someone other than our waiter), we had to ask for the wine which was then delivered unopened. The waiter never came to check on us. He brought the check. After giving him our credit card, he disappeared for a while. When he returned, he brought us the original check without our credit card! The food was mostly average with the pasta dish being almost inedible.
This was our favorite spot a couple of years ago. We come every year and make sure to eat here once or twice each trip. This year service was very bad. The Brussels and cauliflower apps were good but the risotto and pasta dishes were bland. It’s gone down hill. Next year we’ll rethink a visit here.
I love Campo. Love their food mostly. For some reason they hardly ever seem to provide good service. I don't understand why 53, which is also part of Mammoth Mountain and right next to it, can get it right, while Campo can't get service right.
Had a reservation for 6:30 and had to wait about 15 minutes for our table. One of the chairs was very wet, so we asked if it was okay for them to change to the one next to it. The hostess said yes. However, the table had not been cleaned. There were pieces of pizza underneath the table, when I saw it, I looked at the hostess. She saw my look and asked me if I wanted it clean. Did she really have to ask? She went ahead and cleaned it.
After we sat down everything was fine, except for the timing of the food. Ordered appetizers and didn't order the main plates right away, partly in hopes that the mains wouldn't show up at the same time as the appetizers. Nope, the mains followed one of the appetizers by a minute or two of difference. It seems to me that maybe they needed the table for the next reservation so they were trying to rush us. Maybe not, in any case, I like to take my time to enjoy their food, which as I said, I really enjoy.
Our server was nice. The food was great, especially the pappardelle and the caramel budino.
I mostly care about the food, I just wish the service was on pair with the prices. It would also be nice if the hosts didn't have a Beverly Hills attitude.
The food was outstanding. Probably the best meal I had every had in Mammoth. Every last dish was piping hot and so full of flavor. Delicious!
Overall, I'd give this place a thumbs up. They skimp on the ingredients. For example, our pizza came with literally 4 small pieces of salami on it so in essence, we ate a cheese pizza and our spaghetti with meatball came with very few meatballs. However, the prices are on the lower side and so one can't really complain. It's great for groups since they have a large menu and the noise level is pretty rambunctious. The server was extremely accomodating with our requests so we gave her a fat tip. I'd definitely go back.
We were greeted by a very friendly staff and they made accommodations for our two boys (3 & 5) by seating is at. 1/2 banquette table. They had coloring books - yes, a multi-page book! - and crayons. My wife and I went for the “Date Night” menu, salad, pizza, pasta, and dessert. Adding in a glass of wine the entire meal was very reasonable for a quality place/food.
The ambiance, service, drinks and the food were extremely disappointing.
