Campo de Fiori - Vail Ratings and Reviews
Although my reservation was made more than a month ago, they didn’t honor the “ by the window” request and when I showed them the empty window table, they said it was for a frequent guest. I told the lady that I was returning guest for many, many years; she insisted that I could not have this table. The retaurant has other window table that were occupied.
After several years we finally went back again to Campo de Fiori. Had been disappointed previously. However, this time was just the opposite; just like years back when we first discovered it and the great Super Toscan 'Lucente'. Especially loved the ravioli funghi after the polpo nd frutti di mare (quite substantial). Somewhat weak was the chocolate mousse desert with berries. Great service and lovely atmosphere.
Meh...the service was competent, if not overly friendly. The food was serviceable with some selections better than others. Two of our pasta dishes were waaayyyy over-the-top salty and mushy, Swordfish fish of the day was very dry without a sauce, but the sides were good, but not $40 good. Their wine list is obscenely overpriced. I'm in the restaurant biz, a level 2 Somm and our establishment offers a 100% Italian extensive wine list, so we have many of their offerings...but Campo's prices are double our prices for the same wines/vintages. Prices way out of line for their menu ($15 for a starter bowl of vegetarian tasteless minestrone??!!) Prevent the heavy hand on the salt shaker, don't overcook the pastas adjust pricing a bit, and it would be a pretty good place.
First time to Vail & Campo di Fiori was recommended to us. We were looking for a comfortable location with fine cuisine. The food was good American fare but the guy @ the next table was obnoxious & loud. Every thought that came to his head was shared out loud. This made our dinner experience less than great. This was just our dumb luck. Better luck next time.
We’ve been to Campo de Fiori several times and it’s always consistent and very enjoyable. The food was very good but I hesitate to give 5-stars for a few reasons...the menu is solid but not super creative, the bread isn’t all that great, there are not really any vegan options and, in my opinion, it’s a little pricey for what it is. That said, it’s still very tasty, we all enjoyed our salads and entrees very much. Great, efficient and professional service....our waiter was friendly in the proper way. Last comment; the tables!! If you are claustrophobic this place wouldn’t be too fun - it’s kind of a European dining vibe but it’s so tight in btwn the tables the servers can barely maneuver and we had a table next to us who were partying which was ok as we were there with some friends having fun, too but for a date night or family dinner it was a little too close for comfort.
It's amazing to me how Campo is able to remain so consistent with the high quality of their product. My wife and I have frequented this fine establishment for the better part of 5 years and it never fails to deliver the goods! From the exciting dishes and outstanding service Campo is an experience that dazzles, moves and endures like a seasoned tango. Mira you are a lioness! Thank you for all the memories, see you again soon.
The very basic of Italian cuisine is to know how to cook you pasta. The pasta came out very soft. The other basic in Italian cuisine is the appetizer - beef carpaccio, it was no where to be found under a hip of salad, and when you find it , it is dark and not pink...terrible.
Service from the host to server to bussser was on point and friendly. Super cozy and comfortable vibe. Server informative and patiently explained all the Italian items I did not know. Mushroom ravioli to die for! Great night all around. I have already started recommending to my coworkers & will continue recommending and I can't wait to come back myself.
We tried Campo to kick off Vail Restaurant Week, where many restaurants offer regular menu items for $20.17, presumably to bring in local traffic during low season. I had the risotto with scallops, in a tomato base, which was very good. My wife had the scallopini, served with sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes. She enjoyed it and finished it. Service is good, the view is great, and it is kid friendly, based on the number of kids there (we were early - 6 pm). My only disappointment is that the portions are moderated to accommodate the special price. If a local brewery advertised half-price beers, and then served me an 8 oz draft, I would also feel a little disappointed.
The best Italian food I've had in some time! The homemade tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms was great! The calamari was great and the marinara sauce that came with it was perfect - definitely as for extra!! We only wish we had room for dessert. Will definitely go back the next time I'm in Vail. And the hostess was quite possibly the nicest hostess I've ever encountered. 5 stars all around!!
The tables are too close together. We had to move several times to let others in and out. Also for a six top they put two tables together so folks in the middle were on two different tables. It is too bad as the food is good and the restaurant and old favorite of ours. But we wouldnt go back based on it not being relaxing with having tables jammed in and no room to move
