Campiello - Naples Ratings and Reviews
My Chicken Paillard with arugula panzenella was awful. The paillard was as hard and tough as the sole of a shoe. The arugula salad was above and beyond garlic infused and so spicy. We have dined at Campiello since it's opening. We're snowbirds from Pa. for 24 seasons. And incidentally I am Italian(Tuscany) reared on my Nonna"s outstanding cuisine. She never fixed panzenella the way you do!!! My husband's linguine with clam sauce was so-so. We rarely have been so disappointed dining with you. Elaine Rusin
We have been to Campiello’s many times over the years and we were disappointed this evening as it was a cool evening and breezy. There was a second hearted close to us but the moved it to the middle of the dining area and said they were going to bring another one, but that never happened. Also, two people brought there dogs in with them and we understand that but I am not sure the public health would appreciate them being right up at the table top. We as customers certainly didn’t like eating with a dog right at the table top.
I wasn’t as impressed with the food as I thought I would be. I had salmon which was a bit dry. My husband had the pasta and meatballs which was ok. We received a free desert of our choice for my husband’s birthday ($10 value) . The server was nice and attentive however, after I paid the bill in cash which included the tip he brought the bill back to me and pointed out that the desert was on the house. I was well aware of that because I saw the $10 credit on the bill prior to paying. Basically, he was saying I should have tipped more than the 20% that I gave him. I left more money on the table because I felt uncomfortable. I don’t think that was a tactful way of telling me my tip should have been based on the bill including desert.
I’ve been a loyal customer for 15 years. 1st Time I’ve ever had a complaint. The food took forever to arrive and when it did The split roasted chicken was over cooked and it was cold. I didn’t send it back because I was starving. I did mention it to the server but he didn’t seem to care.
I love camp’s and will go back, but the overall experience was not one of your best.
We were disappointed to be seate between the bar and the kitchen. We could not carry on a conversation with the others at the end of our table. Our waitress was friendly (told us her name 5 or 6 times) but opened the wine then disappeared and we poured our own. She seemed distracted and finally gave us water after the glasses were almost empty. She mentioned the wine I selected was no good, so I wondered why they would put it on the menu. It was a celebration of two birthdays and we did receive a dessert with a candle. Overall our food was good. When we were leaving our waitress told us that the tip 16% was too low. We topped it up to over 20% but felt the service clearly was not at that level. Too bad, I organized this for 8 of us, as I had had such a great experience the last time I was at this restaurant. I sure hope this was just a busy overcrowded night and that if we return that better seating would be available so that we can converse over our meal. We were at another similar restaurant early in the month and had a great experience.
Service was excellent and personal. Clams and linguine a little to spicey with the red pepper flakes. Pappadell came stuck together. Biggest disappointment were your martinis, at $15.00 a glass it was hard to detect the Ketel One vodka in the drink. Very weak straight up martinis. Probably will come again this season but will not order martinis.
Disappointed, one of our favs had great dishes which unfortunately changed on menu. When inquired, the waiter, Michael swore it was the same recipe but obviously not when the various dishes arrived. The homemade pasta is still great, the ambiance as well, and the experienced waiter knocked water all over my new suede bag & never cleaned up or addressed it.
We enjoyed an outstanding meal at Campiello. The atmosphere was lively, but not so loud as to inhibit conversation. Our waiter was terrific. He knew how all of the menu items were prepared and was very knowledgeable about those which were gluten-free. My wife’s GF- grouper was excellent as was my red snapper (both of which the waiter recommended). He also recommended the risotto as a side dish so we could share the large portion.
When the waiter brought the desert menu he proactively pointed out which items were gluten-free. We shared a cholate mousse cake with caramel ice cream, which was delicious.
We will be back.
We used to go there all the time, but it’s change in the last few times. The place is full of staff, but nobody will make eye contact, or notice nobody has been to the table since you’ve been there 20 plus minutes.
We live very close and used to love this place, now probably will visited very rarely.
