Campiello - Eden Prairie Ratings and Reviews
The Cappelletti with Butternut Squash, Sage and Walnuts was not liked and replaced with a prosciutto and morel mushroom special that was very good. The Pappardelle and Penne were both very good. The restaurant was full and the noise volume was very high to the point of not being able to have a conversation with out repeating and talking extra loud. The prices for pasta dishes were in the mid 20's so it puts it in the expensive range. My wife ate half her pasta and the waitress boxed the other 2 guests but my wife's leftovers were not returned. Since one of us complained once I did not want to add another complaint, but I will not be returning.
The food was very good as usual. I really like the atmosphere, not too formal, not too casual. The staff are very friendly and competent. Our waitress this evening was very nice and provided great service. All in all, a very nice evening with my wife and mother-in-law.
Our experience was good. The waitress was good but it did seem like she had a rote script when she was talking to us. She was helpful but it did feel not very genuine.
The food was good - although the pesto Gnocchi was way too strong.
The beet salad was great. My chicken pasta dish was good. My family liked their choices -- except for the Pesto Gnocci
Our waiter was excellent! He was knowledgable, appropriately attentive and gave excellent
The food was uniformly delicious and we all felt it was of wonderful value (not overly expensive). Really appreciated the separate plates of salad, beautifully presented, when
we shared a salad.
We ate at Campiello on a busy Friday evening. The ambiance is nice with warm decor but a bit crowded feeling as you are close to the other tables. We had made reservations days in advance, arrived on time and they tried to seat us in their worst table in the back, right next to the noisey bus boy station. We asked for a different table and were seated in a different section. The hostess seemed a little miffed...
Our server wasn't great about explaining the menu or specials. She placed a specials menu on the table but didn't tell us about it. When I asked later about the specials, she simply pointed to the other menu and left. We could hear other servers engaging their customers a lot more and explaining the menu options. Ours was more aloof didn't seem interested in helping us much.
We both had the walnut and roasted pear salad as a starter and it was very good.
I ordered the Hangar Steak and it was very good, cooked exactly the way I had asked. My wife was disappointed in the pasta selections and had hoped for a traditional marinara based pasta but there were only a spaghetti and meatball and a braised beef ragu pappardalle. She got the ragu and it was bland in her opinion and more like gravy, beef and noodles.
There are good choices if you're buying a bottle of wine but few selections by the glass. I ordered a Cab that the server recommended that was good but $16 for a single glass!!
We probably won't be coming back for dinner but would return for happy hour or drinks in their bar. It is a nice bar with a classy upscale feel.
Really good food but service can seem uneven. We ordered quickly but there were delays. My wife ordered an appetizer and I ordered a salad. The server never asked but brought the appetizer and after 10 minutes then the salad. The whole meal was two hours and we skipped desert. We dine here often and sometimes the service is great but other times I think that kitchen falls behind
We had a wonderful dinner at Campiello! Our server Kathryn was friendly and obviously knowledgeable about the menu. She did a thorough job of explaining the menu and answering our questions. It was very busy (packed) so the noise level was high but it calmed down as the crowd thinned out.
I've been here before and in the past thought it was so so. This time I was really impressed. Our waiter was friendly and genuine, but. It too intrusive. The food was outstanding. I had pork ribeye with fennel. The menu had ample selections that all looked great so I'll be back. Way to go!
My sister and I had dinner for the first time at Campiello. We were craving Italian food and we were not disappointed. A Lovely and tasty meal from the salad to the pasta to the wine and delicious dessert.
Our waiter, Ole, was informative, knowledgeable, fun and attentive. We stayed 2 hours and had a wonderful time. Moderate pricing and the ambiance was great.
We joined four other friends for dinner here on a Friday night. Service was excellent as was the food. We got there early enough to enjoy a happy hour drink for $5, which we took to our table. I hadn't been here for a while, and was pleased to be reminded of just how excellent the food is. If you love Italian (and who doesn't) food with great ingredients, you'll be happy here!
I was there yesterday, Eden Pr. location, and my friend and I were already discussing what excuse we could find to go back again. I would say it is "a good place for friends to meet" . Soft ambiance, low noise level and good food - everything needed to lower your stress level.
We dined for a business lunch. The service was exceptional. Food was good. I ordered the chicken and pear salad and the Buternut Squash soup. The soup was OUTSTANDING! I would highly recommend for a business lunch as it is a good, quiet atmosphere with fantastic service and good food.
We have always loved their balsamic glazed short ribs with spaghetti, but now at $35, we are inclined to look for a better value on the menu. My wife had the chicken piccata which she enjoyed very much. I opted for the hangar steak. It was a generous portion, but the seasoning they used tasted like the meat had fallen into the fire and ash and they just blew off the big parts. I wasn't fond of it. The side was wild mushrooms with scallions. The combination wasn't bad, but the chef decided to put way more chili flakes than prudent into the concoction. I enjoy hot spicy food, but this was way over the top. Luckily, I ordered a side of the parmesan risotto. We went for the butterscotch pudding for dessert and it was excellent.
Enjoyed all aspects of my evening celebrating my birthday with another's birthday. The service was outstanding. It was hard to decide what to order because when I looked around at other tables I wanted everything I saw. We were not disappointed in our meal and will come back. Desserts were exquisite.
We have eaten at Campiello's three times now. The first time we took our 2 year old and the service was so slow, we lost her attention after an hour and had to cut our dinner short. The second time we were prepared, ordered right away, no app's or dessert and dinner still lasted over an hour, but at least we were able to finish.
Third time, we got smart and got a babysitter. Four of us went out and while both the food and the waiter were fabulous, it was still a 2+ hour affair and that was getting the desserts to go.
Fabulous food, great ambiance, fantastic waiter, authentic cuisine... but slow, Slow, SLOW process. Great for those dates you never want to end!
An Off Night
Though still one of our favorite restaurants, the service end of the restaurant was having an off night. Took an hour to get our food as our server told us there was a mixup in placing our order with the kitchen. We ordered coffee with our dessert and the coffee showed up half way through finishing our dessert. Anxious to get out of there after two hours, we asked the server for our check. She gabbed with the table next to us for a good five minutes before dropping off our check.
Highlights: the short ribs and the chicken with penne pasta were outstanding.
Lowlights: poor service, and the prime rib was very blah.
