Food was excellent! I love Italian food and the atmosphere made me want to go back to Italy.
We had Valentine's Day reservations for 7pm. We arrived a bit early but weren't seated until 7:30 due to lingering dinner guests, I suppose, but we could see many open tables. We were finally seataed at a nice table for 2 against the back wall. The room was quite chilly so we asked our waiter to raise the temp a degree or 2 but I don't think that happened. The Valentine's Day menu was a 3-course menu with plenty of options and something for everyone. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Carpaccio appetizer, which was sushi-style Ahi tuna on avocado aioli with Calabrian chilis. My wife had the House Salad with tomato, Calamata olives, chopped egg, cucumber, and feta cheese with a red wine vinaigrette. It's more of a Greek Salad than Italian, but good none the less. Both were absolutley delicious, fresh and plentiful! For entrees, I had the Veal Osso Buco with Milanese Risotto, a bone-in braised veal shank in a rich tomato-based sauce with creamy risotto. The veal was very tender, moist and delicious. My wife ordered a medium-rare Hanger Steak with roasted carrots. The steak was nicely charred and a bit undercooked but the carrots were literally black. We both had the classic Tiramisu for dessert. It was oddly served in a tulip glass with large chocolate shavings over the top. It looked great but the taste was bland with no coffee or additional chocolate flavor in the underlying mouse. A few lady fingers lined the bottom of the glass. When the waiter asked how we liked it and told him there was a lack of flavors, he said they add 2 kinds of liquor - rum and a coffee liquer - but we didn't taste it. I think the holiday rush caused some of our issues as this is one of our "go to" restaurants.
A little noisy but what can you expect on valentines. Waitress was very good and took great care of us. The food was good. The selections made by my partner were better than mine but we shared so all was good.
Went last night for the Valentine's Day dinner, set menu $65.00 pp. Bit of a rip-off as I half expected. On any given night if you order the most expensive app. or salad and the most expensive pasta or main and then the most expensive desert the ticket would be $60.00 pp max, likely less. Would have been smart to include a glass of prosecco for the special occasion. The place was packed with couples and it was a bit of "lets get them in and out" experience.
It was Valentine's Day. There was no mention on Open Table about a limited menu nor did the restaurant mention a limited menu when they called to confirm the reservation. Never mentioned a limited menu! I am a vegetarian. The amuse bouche was not vegetarian, and no replacement was offered. I do not eat beets, and that was the only vegetarian option. The waiter asked the chef if he would make eggplant parmesan for me, and the chef agreed to make it. The eggplant was brought to the table RAW. There was melted cheese and hot red sauce on top of it, however, my knife wouldn't even cut into the eggplant. Completely raw. Since it was Valentine's Day, I said I would take the eggplant home and cook it at a later time. The restaurant was extremely busy, so I did not want to send the meal back to the kitchen to be recooked. The table next to me was already discussing, with the manager, their displeasure about their meal. The waiter simply took my meal and my husband's (same raw eggplant parmesan) and put them in a box. And we were charged the $65 per person prix fixe for what was essentially simply a salad and dessert.
This was so disappointing, frustrating, disgusting. If I hadn't bought gift cards in December, I probably would not go back to this restaurant, but I will definitely stay away on a holiday.
Campiello has to be one of favorite restaurants in the twin cities. Consistently good food, great service and a great selection of wine. They also have a great Happy Hour - in warmer weather, the patio is awesome.
Always a great meal. Staff goes out of their way to make you comfortable. The soups are fantastic. Mortadella pizza was excellent. Have dined here many times and this restaurant is a great example of how 5 star cuisine and great service make for a very memorable experience every time. Best restaurant in town.
Definitely an off night for a restaurant I generally like. We were freezing all during dinner although we changed tables once. The door to the terrace really needs to be insulated better. ( or else the heat wasn’t working)Our waitress and bus boy managed to only appear and interrupt when we were deep in conversation but were not around when we wanted something. Everything seemed a bit off kilter in the restaurant. Maybe the manager that night? Dinner was ok, not quite as good as usual.
