Campiello - Eden Prairie Ratings and Reviews
4 of us ate at Campiello on Saturday evening and were very disappointed. It was a 62nd birthday celebration with dear friends with whom we dine on a frequent basis. The restauarant was busy and loud. We did not have an optimum table as it was right in the entrance to the kitchen but given the crowd, we decided not to wait for a better table. The pizza appetizer was good, served quickly and everyone enjoyed it. We had a good bottle of red wine and it was served at the correct temperature. For entrees, we had the Chicken Picata, Lingiuni and Shrimp, grilled Salmon and Spaghetti and Meatballs. The salmon was good and a decent sized portion. I had the linguine and shrimp which was terrible! It shrimp was breaded which was not noted in the menu and all the breading had fallen off the shrimp into the overcooked and tasteless pasta which had absolutely no sauce. The shrimp was way over cooked, chewy and greasy tasting. The only good thing about it was that the serving was extremely small!
My husband had the chicken which was over cooked and served with tasteless, overcooked pasta with no sauce. He choked down the chicken barely. My other friend said the spaghetti and meatballs was not good and the sauce tasted overwhelmingly of tomato paste and little else. Our 2nd bottle of the same wine was bad and the waitress poured it into my wineglass which still had at least half a serving of the 1st bottle before I could stop her so it ruined that whole glass too. It was NOT compensated and the waitress was less than gracious in bringing us another bottle after we flagged her down to complain that the wine had turned.
We used to eat at Campiello quite often but stopped as it was going downhill. We decided to try it again because the reviews have improved but sadly the food was poor and we won’t be returning. This restaurant has seen its heyday and now needs to close!
Parking was easy in the large lot just outside the front door. Inside the hostess made us feel very welcome and we were seated quickly. Our waitress was great. We ordered wine by the glass and it was fresh. The menu had many appealing choices and I had the short ribs and pasta which was phenomenal! My only criticism was the water which had a heavy mineral content. No problem. The rest of the experience was so good I’ll order bottled water next time. We plan to be back soon.
It was our 55th wedding anniversary. The 5 of us at the table consisted of 3 generations. Had an absolutely wonderful time. Our waiter and service was splendid and unobtrusive. The food was delicious. All in all, Campiello's made it a special evening for all of us.
As always, a wonderful meal accompanied by well-matched wines. For the first time I had the fennel-encrusted pork loin. It was flavorful and interesting, but still allowed the flavors of more subtle side dishes to emerge. We have had special family dinners here for several years and have always been pleased -- even our most selective relatives.
My family has dined at the Campiello restaurants for years- in Minneapolis as well as Naples, FL. A few take comments from this recent visit. Food- great. Service- adequate. Ambience: 1. We felt as if we were eating in a banquet room- way too much light. 2. Please replace the carpet - it's tired and looks worn - petty but it stuck out to me- perhaps because of the excess lighting. Bring some of your Naples location class to this property. Thanks.
Campiello is a great business meal discussion venue! Really nice variety of food on the menu with great specials. Very business friendly service. Nice setting for meaningful discussions. I have enjoyed my meal every time I’ve been here and everyone I’ve brought had said the same!
Completely overrated. Pasta sides are confused and afterthoughts. Short ribs by themselves were very good but they were way oversaused, used balsamic vinegar like a gravy. Way, way overpriced for the quality of the food. The kitchen is at best haphazard in preparation and at worst indeferent to taste. The rosed chicken was by far the best menu item however.
The food, staff, and service are always great but this past Thursday night they were all exceptional. The food was the best we've had in the Twin Cities in awhile, and that's saying something as the food scene in town keeps getting better all the time. I had a delicious cocktail, a bees knees, with the locally sourced and produced J Carver Distillery gin, amazing!
Our team celebrated the holiday together here for dinner and the food, along with the service, were great! The menu is Italian staples with a monthly seasonal special that offers a variety which is nice for those looking for pasta alternatives!
Good apps and salads too!
We will be back!
The Cappelletti with Butternut Squash, Sage and Walnuts was not liked and replaced with a prosciutto and morel mushroom special that was very good. The Pappardelle and Penne were both very good. The restaurant was full and the noise volume was very high to the point of not being able to have a conversation with out repeating and talking extra loud. The prices for pasta dishes were in the mid 20's so it puts it in the expensive range. My wife ate half her pasta and the waitress boxed the other 2 guests but my wife's leftovers were not returned. Since one of us complained once I did not want to add another complaint, but I will not be returning.
The food was very good as usual. I really like the atmosphere, not too formal, not too casual. The staff are very friendly and competent. Our waitress this evening was very nice and provided great service. All in all, a very nice evening with my wife and mother-in-law.
Our experience was good. The waitress was good but it did seem like she had a rote script when she was talking to us. She was helpful but it did feel not very genuine.
The food was good - although the pesto Gnocchi was way too strong.
The beet salad was great. My chicken pasta dish was good. My family liked their choices -- except for the Pesto Gnocci
Our waiter was excellent! He was knowledgable, appropriately attentive and gave excellent
The food was uniformly delicious and we all felt it was of wonderful value (not overly expensive). Really appreciated the separate plates of salad, beautifully presented, when
we shared a salad.
