Campania Cafe - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Food was fine. Service staff was mostly pooled from the local college nearby. It's a decent local restaurant. The dessert and coffee (Lavazza, which .Hilton carries) was very tasty. Improvements would be on the customer service training, but overall no complaints about the food or quality.
Been coming here over 6 years when living in Cornelius. Live in South Park now but still make the trip up, but after this last experience, may not return. We were greeted promptly but seated near the bar when the dining area was mostly empty. We asked to move with no problem. Our first disappointment came when our favorite wine was sold out, then found out the eggplant entree was sold out!!! An italian establishment that runs out of eggplant??? I ordered the chicken parm which had very runny marinara sauce with what seemed to be rigatonis that were cut in half and horribly overcooked. It took several requests to receive bread. We had a very apologetic and cheerful and helpful server. Needless to say we did not bother to order dessert.
We were seated, given water & menus by the hostess. Five minutes later a waitress arrived, introduced herself, and asked, "Do you know what ya want?" We placed our orders and were then asked, "Ya want anything besides water?" I asked for a wine list and she wordlessly walked away, appearing a few minutes later only to plop the wine list on the table and keep walking. We waited another 30 minutes for some sort of acknowledgement but not a single employee stopped by our table, refilled out waters, spoke, nor even made eye contact. Forty five minutes after we'd arrived, we made the decision to walk out. No one seemed to notice. We politely emailed the manager & she offered no apology, only excuses, implying it was our fault for not being patient.
Not a great experience, certainly not the best anniversary dinner we've had. The food may very well be excellent but I'll never know; we won't return.
Went for early dinner first day of restaurant week. Had excellent salads and main meals. Desserts were good. Service was excellent - they were expecting a big crowd, but we were out of there early. We will recommend to others and will plan to eat here again!
To be fair, the Mothers Day Brunch at Campania Cafe had its strengths. The salad , nothing more than mixed greens, had as it's saving grace a wonderful balsamic vinaigrette. The mashed potatoes were spot on and the French Toast and bacon were simply delicious. Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends. The sliced roast beef was so overcooked it needed dental records to identify its remains. The vegetable medley was mush. The soft shell crab was so grotesque even sampling it between two pieces of nicely baked bread could not save it. Finally, that brings me to the attempted Italian entree. What was that supposed to be exactly? Instead of a lasagna or a nicely done baked ziti, it resembled something out of your grocer's freezer. To add insult to injury, the tiramisu (normally my Wife's favorite desert) was dry and flavorless. On the positive side of the ledger, the cannoli and Italian Cream Cake were nicely done.
At the end of the day, I paid $200.00 for my family of 5 to enjoy your weak attempt at a Mothers Day brunch. Never again. You rely way too much on your Davidson zip code, and way too less on the actual quality of food you serve. Where's your culinary pride? Someone has obviously fallen asleep at the wheel. What a shame.
Campania is a great place to unwind on a Friday night. Live music by the bar drifts to the dining area which allows for conversation. Food is always wonderful. Service is attentive and personal. I would describe Campania as the best dinner along South Main. It is elegant, charming, and delicious.
I loved the building, food was good but staff lacked expertise of Italian Food. Asked for cheese and it came in a container, should have provided freshly shredded cheese and freshly ground pepper.
Waitress was informed I was paying the bill but continued to ask the man guest and proceeded to lay the bill in front of him...feel sorry for her.
The decor and ambiance were very nice. The food was good but not equal to the pricing. The selection was not vast but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The server was extremely slow and did not seem to even notice that she was slow. I completely finished my meal before she came to check on us and she never refilled our waters. There were a couple other tables that even after bussing they still left dirty plates just sitting there. Minimal pre-bussing and no decrumbing the tables. Also all the tablecloths were upside down (shows they don't put effort into the details). But many people would still choose this for something different than the usual chain restaurants in a nice area with cozy ambiance (exposed brick and wood for instance).
We were celebrating two birthdays and a return from a deployment. The service was slow and unfriendly. The food was okay, but the service was so unfriendly that it became unimpressive. The location is beautiful though and the music was awesome. I've been here before and picked this place for how I remember it. It fell short and I was so disappointed because this was supposed to be a special occasion among three great friends who don't get to see each other very often.
This was our first time at the restaurant. My wife and I are near 80. My wife has severe arthritis as should have obvious with her difficulty in walking in and sitting down. There were other tables for two available yet she was seated on a padded cabinet along the wall with no back. The noise level was very high partially due to one table with 8 very loud people and this made conversation difficult.
All that being said, the food was excellent. We split a salad with heart of romaine and it was nicely split by the chef. The marinara sauce on the fettuccine was the best I can remember eating. The mussels were pretty low quality but acceptable. I dislike having to remove the tails on my shrimp. I thought the waitress did an outstanding job. I did think the prices were a little high but I would return to gain more experience with the remainder of the menu.
The food was great but our service was extremly slow. Maybe we just got an overextended server but the place wasn't full either, just took 15mins to get our water and another 15mins to get our wine. Our salad came but we had no silverware and so on through the night. The lights could be dimmed a little, it seemed bright to us for a dinner date. like I said the food was great, but i would hesitate to go back because of the service and that's a shame.
Server was excellent. Food was great from start to finish. Get Arancini every time we are there to start. Asparagus & beet salad was divine. Y'all were out of my dish of choice but my 2nd choice was a hit. Love coming to Campania's. Can't figure out why we're not here more often!
This was Queen's Feast/Restaurant Week so the menu was limited. The food was okay. The asparagus and the steak were a little tough. The flavors were good though. The salad was good and the tiramisu was excellent. I was disappointed not having the full menu. So many things I wanted to try. Loved the atmosphere!
