We stumbled across this place on Open table and we were thoroughly impressed. The staff was delightful and the food was excellent. My wife and I loved this place. We will be back.
Mother's Day price Fix menu was very limited. The food was bland. Calamari was decent fit everything else was bad. Ran out of popular desert. Replaced with frozen choc cake- not good. Service was very slow. Expensive for quality.
Great local spot. The chef was great, came around to see how everything was. Also was flexible with gluten free requests. Nice ambience .
We used to go to Camillo's when located in Princeton and we're very happy to find Camillo's reopened in Pennington. Great food, pleasant staff and cozy. We worth the short ride.
It was great; two outstanding courses that made an excellent Sunday dinner. The Gnocchi Crema a Prosciutto as a half portion for my starter is one of the best gnocchi recipes in the area. The chicken scarpariello that was a special of the evening was about as good as you'll find. Each visit reveals the use of great ingredients in moderate-sized potions that are simply prepared and with the perfect balance of seasonings. This approach to cooking is something I appreciate more and more every time.
Hidden gem. Food was delicious. Highly recommended 👍
My bday. The guys even sang happy bday to me smh. Their staff always take care of me and my girl come here. Camillo came by and had a couple laughs with us. 💯💯
I went to Camillo's restaurant when he was in his old location at the Princeton Shopping Center and was delighted to learn that he opened in nearby Pennington, NJ. We have been to the new location a number of times now. Camillo's cooking is really great. His fried calamari is the best we've ever had - a must! Grilled bronzini special was also amazing. Chicken Sinatra is one of my favorites from the menu. The servers are very courteous and accommodating. I don't think they are quite able to coordinate properly the service of meals on a busy Saturday night. After one particularly long meal, we now avoid going on Saturdays and stick to less busy nights. We are foodies and also like to bring our own wine. Highly recommend it!
We have been to Camillo's a number of times. The food is always great but the service can be spotty. This past Saturday the service was also great. We had the calamari (among the best ever), mussels (good), tuna special (outstanding) and chicken sinatra (highly recommend).
Perfect place for date night! Camillo takes great pride in every dish. Authentic Italian at its best! We will definitely be back for more :)
This place is 4 miles away and we had never been. Well, we'll be back. Often. The food was delicious authentic Italian and the service was awesome.
We enjoyed a wonderful Hopewell Restaurant Week experience. The quality of ingredients, expert preparation by Camillo made for delicious dining. This is a gem likened to a restaurant in Florence or Rome. Go. You will nog be disappointed.
This is a great gem of a restaurant.... The owner chef, Camillo, couldn't have been a more gracious host.... The food is amazing and the service was on par with the food. If you haven't tried this place, you are missing out on probably the best Italian restaurant in the area. Definitely worth many repeat visits!!
First time dining @ Camillo's, as I was looking for a nice new place to take my wife for a "date night"! Very quaint restaurant located in a residential area and almost looks like it is in a converted home. Not many tables so be sure to make a reservation. Food and service was outstanding and the pricing more than reasonable. It was restaurant week, so the 3-course pre-fix was an even greater value. Staff was very informative about the menu and the courses came out spaced and not one after the other. We had ample time to enjoy our meal and were never rushed, which is the European style of dining. "The table is yours, enjoy your meal and leave when you are ready". Another value is it is a BYOB, so you can put the liquor portion of your tab into the food which was excellent. Menu has the typical choice of veal, seafood meat, chicken and pasta, typical Italian but prepared very Euro-style. We will definitely return for another meal at Camillo's
My wife and I went to Camillo's for Hopewell Restaurant Week and enjoyed the experience. We tried Camillo's because we hadn't been before, but we were not expecting much. It is yet another Italian restaurant in an area with many. When we asked questions about the menu, our waiter brought out the chef. Camillo happy answered our questions and, when asked, explained that he was from the Abruzzo region of Italy, which has, he added, some of the best food in the world. The food was wonderful because of its delicate flavors and textures. Before our appetizers arrived we were served two portions of bruschetta, grilled Italian bread topped with tomatoes and basil, more flavorful than we thought possible in February in New Jersey. My wife has a small eggplant tower as an appetizer, which featured thin slices of eggplant and slices of tender, moist, flavorful mozzarella surrounded by a light tomato sauce. I had Stracciatella, an egg-drop soup in a chicken broth base, which was delicious. As entrees, we both had Branzino, a striped bass found in the Mediterranean. The generous and delicious portion of fish was grilled and lightly flavored with extra virgin olive oil and probably a bit of garlic. It was served with a mixture of roasted potatoes, squash, and carrots cut in thick julienne style. For dessert we both has the tiramisu, which, like the rest of the meal, was light and flavorful. We will return to Camillo's!
Nice lunch; the two specials that I had for a starter and pasta course were both very good.
This was our first time at Camillo's and we were very impressed with the food, the staff including the Chef (Camillo) who greeted us and the ambiance.
Can't wait to go back!
We made reservations as soon as we found out that Camillo's was back after leaving Princeton a couple of years ago and we were not disappointed. The food was great in all respects. I ordered specials and my wife ordered off of the menu and everything was perfectly prepared. The ambiance is great for special occasions and for meeting friends and the service was attentive without being intrusive. Overall it was a wonderful experience.
The restaurant is tucked away on the street and so charming! Looks like a nice patio outside, but too cold for February. The decor is lovely and the food is amazing. I had the vegetable risotto - delicious and my friend had a Napoli sandwich and salad. The portions were perfect for lunch. The waitstaff was very attentive and the chef came out to see if we were enjoying our meals. Will definitely be back!
Xlnt restaurant small but quaint. Great thing about it NO MUSIC, a conversation could be had. Food was good fresh pasta and ingredients. Highly recommend it. Don't forget to BYOB.
We went on Valentine's Day. They seemed unorganized and took a long time to get menus and our food. The servers were friendly just everything took a long time.
We went to Camillo's for the second time -- we had a lovely meal on New Year's Eve and wanted to enjoy the same experience for Valentine's Day. My food was very good. My wife ordered the Salmon Linguine, the same choice she had made before, but after we waited for an excessively long time, she received a cold dish of pasta. She flagged down the waiter who took it back to heat up and it came back warm but not hot and it simply did not taste very good. We never received an apology. We will not be back.
The food was outstanding. The place was packed and very, very loud. Not a great place if you want to carry on a conversation with your date. But seemingly a fun place for a larger group. Service was a little slow as there were several large groups. Seemed like the service staff was a little overwhelmed, but it didn't ruin the evening (as long as you weren't on a timeline).
Beautiful and quaint. Food is superb. Service personal. Meal is well paced. Old fashioned in a perfect way. We drive over an hour to come for authentic Italian in an unexpected location!
What I enjoyed seeing was that my guests had no food leftover (ate every bite - portions were perfect) Even though the salad eaters wanted their dressing on the side but didn't get it that way. They said that the dressing was not overpowering and was perfect (that was the reason they ordered it on side by other restaurants bad experiences for very overpowering dressing) Thanks for making this one of the best lunches ever.
Two great dishes made for a great Friday wonderful meal. Both the Gnocchi Crema a Prosciutto, which was done in a half-portion for a starter, and the Merluzzo Puttanesca were both outstanding.
Fantastic meal. Camillo himself greeted us at the door and sat us. We had eaten many times at his original Princeton location. Although Pennington is a bit more of a drive, we were not disappointed. Camillo is a true chef/owner restaurateur. He cooks fantastic meals with fresh ingredients. My wife had a grilled fish that was among the best ive ever had. My home made pasta with shrimp and scallops was fantastic. A recommended appetizer of Mussels in a light tomato sauce was incredible. You cant go wrong at this restaurant.
We just love this restaurant!! The food is reasonably priced and so delicious. We have become regular customers. I love how the chef and owner comes out from the kitchen to make sure everything is to our satisfaction. Bravo!!
The pasta dishes are exceptional...all pasta is home made and the sauces were delicious...the chef came out twice to make sure everything was all right. We had ravioli and pappardelle. I would recommend it especially for Italian dishes.
This was the second time eating at Camillo's. The restaurant is quaint and cozy. We had several appetizers which we were all very pleased with. I had homemade gnocchi which were absolutely delicious. All of the pasta is handmade and you can certainly taste the difference. We also ended the night with coffee and my cappuccino was delicious! Portions are on the smaller side and my only complaint would be that for the price I would prefer to see a bit more food.
Excellent food and service. Great menu. We will be back.
Great service. Great food. Can't ask for more than that
This is a charming BYO Italian restaurant tucked away in the center of old Pennington. My wife and I have been there for dinner three times in the last six months. Two of the times were excellent. One time the restaurant appeared to be understaffed. Generally the food and ambiance are wonderful and the service can be on the slow side unless you let the staff know that you need to leave by a certain time. It's not the kind of place that you go to for a quick meal.
All three courses were of the very highest quality. The clam chowder soup was of a style unlike what I’ve ever had. The antipasto salad was also delicious. My entrée of the Pappardelle and Sausage Ragout, which I've had before, impressed me with the seasonings used in perfect harmony. Once again, I have to give high marks to both the preparation and presentation of the foods.
If you're looking for home made Italian food cooked fresh and you want to feel like your sitting in your own dining room, then this is the place for you!
Enjoyed everything about the meal from appetizer to dessert.
The service was great and we were not rushed. The owner is very genial. It was a wonderful evening, a hidden gem. Can't wait to return.
I've been to Camillo's several times for various occasions and never been disappointed. A neighborhood gem that I hope keeps attracting new customers.
First time here and we were very happy with the quality of the food, freshly homemade pasta and the overall dining experience. Camillo came by to greet us and bring his complementary bruschetta, which also was very good. Its a BYO and that is very nice as well. We'll be back.
Camillo's is a fantastic restaurant located in Pennington NJ. The chef is friendly and excellent, making adjustments to the menu to suit our likes and dislikes. I always get the same dish, the papardelle with pork ragout because I might be disappointed if I didn't get it-it's that good!!!! All of the pasta is homemade. And the Tiramisu is to die for!!
Great atmosphere, and great food. The service was very good.
