Restaurant week lunch
A great taste of Italy in Federal Hill. Classic dining room and menu.
Fantastic from the moment we valet parked until the moment we drove away. Food, service, and ambiance were all wonderful.
My wife and I get together with this couple every year around this time. I share the same birthday as him. For the past few years we been going to Camille’s Roman Garden restaurant to celebrate. This year was no different from the past years. We all had a terrific time! The waiter and the service was outstanding. The food was excellent and the decor was right out of the movies. There’s an excellent valet service. I feel it’s the best restaurant on the “hill”.
Always a good meal and good meeting place at Camille's. Restaurant week specials , some of the better lunch offerings in Providence.
Consistency always at Camille's!
Drove down from Boston for something different - what a gem! And an easy drive, as the restaurant is about a block off I-95, as Camille's has been near the gateway to the Federal Hill section of Providence for nearly a hundred years. Classic Italian cuisine. Not a red sauce joint (although on the menu), the menu offers a great selection of dishes. The specials included Vermont boar loin. which was french-cut, grilled with apricot, and served over cous cous with a variety of mushrooms. My choice, and it was excellent! Fresh swordfish was a temptation, but my companion chose the veal cutlet marsala - perfect - tender and prepared correctly! We started with oysters Rockefeller (4) with glasses of rose wine, which was a perfect choice for a summer evening. The wine list is not extensive, but broad and very reasonable. A Valpolicella was a great choice to go with our entrees. The entrees are generous, and we didn't need dessert, but the classic tiramisu sounded to good to miss, so we shared a dessert, with some good coffee. A great meal. The service was excellent and professional. So, not an extravagant meal, but a wonderful meal. By the way, at the end of the evening, the live band in the bar was just loud enough to hear and enjoy as they played lounge style hits of the 1960-1980's. We were sitting close to the bar entrance, so probably harder to hear in the other rooms of the dining area. I'm not a great fan of "oldies", but this band knew how to do it right (and the lead singer has a great voice), and we fully enjoyed listening as we had dessert. We will be back.
I wanted to love this place, but unfortunately it just didn’t impress. We’ve been to several places on the hill and this is my least favorite. The food was definitely not worth the prices. I got the bolognese and my husband got the chicken parm. Both were very bland. The service was so slow. It took about 20 minutes for our waiter to initially come over and then it took a half hour for our food. Unfortunately we won’t be coming back.
Great service, and the food was amazing - my husband and I both had appetizers and we enjoyed them very much. Dinner was so good my husband ate everything, even though it was quite a lot of food. I definitely took my leftovers home and was happy to have them. My husband said he’d absolutely go again.
Food was fantastic. Ambiance was great. Service was excellent.
I went on Providence Restaurant Week so the value was outstanding but on their menu the regular menu the prices were reasonable also. My friend and I both enjoyed our appetizers, entrees and dessert. The waiter was attentive without being overbearing.
My only complaint is that although I had booked with OpenTable and clearly identified myself as a reservation when I got there, the host must not have checked me off correctly since I had an email from OpenTable when I got home asking me why I hadn't honored the reservation. Their mistake could have lost me points.
Excellent service and food. It is as good as any Italian restaurant in NYC or Boston.
The food was wonderful and the staff went above and beyond to take care of us. They went so far as to chase us down several blocks away to bring us the credit card left on the table.
The arancini, calamari, lasagna were wonderful as was everything we ordered.
The service is always wonderful, and the food outstanding. A wonderful dining experience .
Seldom saw waiter even though he had only three small parties to wait on. Manager walked through dining room but never acknowledged any of the few diners on Monday nite. Seemed like the staff from the valet parker, to the waiter to the manager didn't want to be working on a slow night. Bus boy was only friendly attentive staff member.
Went to Camille's for a special occasion, and it was quite a special meal. The menu was diverse for any taste and everything we had was perfectly prepared; sauces were marvelous, obviously made of the best ingredients and very fresh. The wine list was well put together, and the entire meal was top notch. Service was excellent. We will definitely be back.
Food was great, service was great thought price was a little high for what you received they should give a dinner salad along with the meal
All around a great place to celebrate - tables are a bit too close for comfort but otherwise, the food was delicious.
Camille's is great for celebrating special occasions, even if the special occasion is just another day of feeling good about being alive. I love going to Camille's in the summer because the food is dependably great and it is always cool there. The waiters at Camille's are pleasant and discreet. They have great drinks and great desserts.
Very accommodating, terrific service and excellent food! We would definitely return to this restaurant if in the area again.
the restaurant called to confirm our reservation in a timely manner. table was ready on time and we were seated promptly. valet parking made it easy. handicap entrance with ramp was very useful. waiter and food were excellent. would definitiely recommend.
Had another great meal. My favorite restaurant. Best veal parmesan in RI. Great wine selection.
A perfect night in Providence, in fact our best meal and experience over the course of four days. Great old-school Italian restaurant with new offerings, incredible service by our waiter JAMES, and a nicely paced wonderful meal in a warm atmosphere and quiet atmosphere. We had a table of 7 people, and we all left happy.
Lovely to sit outside on their little known patio.
It was our first time at this restaurant and we loved it. Food was delicious. The service was outstanding. I enjoyed being able to talk without yelling. Although we did not sit at the bar, it looked like a very nice place to meet friends. We have already recommended this spot to two friends!
Never disappointed. Food was very well prepared and well plated. Service impeccable with outstanding attention to needs and went off menu dessert to satisfy.
The house made gnocchi with clams was a dinning delight.
Another fantastic dinner. Excellent food with adequate portions. Chef will accommodate requests. Wait staff is attentive but not overbearing. My favorite go to place in providence.
James is the best!
The best restaurant in town
Hadn’t been there in awhile, but after having such an incredible 3 course luncheon this week I can’t wait to return!!!
I highly recommend Camille’s for an elegant , delicious & yet very affordable lunch throughout the week!
I had some of the best oysters I’ve ever had at Camille’s! So incredibly fresh and flavorful. Our waiter was excellent. So glad we tried this spot.
The interior is beautiful and the service and food fabulous.
Service at this restaurant was phenomenal and their authentic Italian cuisine was wonderful.
Camille's is a favorite place for us to gather for a special occasion or just for a terrific meal.
Service, Food and ambience is exceptional. You will feel like family.
Amazing food and service...... I highly recommend and would absolutely go back!!!!
Excellent! For starters, the wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. Both the wine and dinner suggestion the waiter gave was superb. There was an excellent live band the day I went and there were people dancing in the foyer but in the dining room the vibe was much more relaxed and suitable for conversation, I really enjoyed the versatility.
The food was to die for. I had the daily special which was lobster, scallops, and shrimp and it was some of the most delicious lobster I've ever eaten. My boyfriend got the steak and it was cooked perfectly to his request (he ordered it medium-well) and was still very juicy and flavorful. 10/10 would recommend! Pricey but you definitely get what you pay for.
I felt the service was very good and professional. The chairs were quite comfortable, the tables spaced apart. I also felt that the menu was extensive and varied. There were lots of appealing choices.
The speed of service was if not slow close to slow. Even getting a drink order for a party of six with three sodas and three drinks one being a Manhattan up took 5-6 minutes and the drinks arrived in two stages.
The food while not certainly not bad or poorly cooked was not very good. Again not bad... maybe good but no better than that.
I had Halibut.... a special at $42. I believe the fish was fresh and of good quality and not overcooked. It was served w/o any seasoning that I could detect. It was over risotto and fresh spinach properly cooked that was a little lemony. Very basic, kind of plain.
A shellfish selection over pasta was served in a huge container... I cannot call it a plate.
I think in in summary... ambiance good, food maybe ordinary or a tad better and price high. I wouldn't slam the place but would not recommend it either.
Just okay not great and pretty pricey
Service and food were outstanding! Large portions for the money. One of the best restaurants I have been to.
The staff, managers, And the food are all fantastic!
Ask for Joe the waiter for great service and some laughs.
