Cameron's American Bistro Ratings and Reviews
This is in my top five places, in all my travels. My home base place, that all my dining out guests love when they come into town and wish experience the menu flavors again, the next time back to visit. I see the roots in this place going back to the beginning of Cameron's work and love of dining, and that's going back along time. It really offers a dining experience that has always been filled with flavor, a relaxed and comfortable venue, any day of the week.
For years Cameron's American Bistro has been our favorite upscale, but not stuffy, place to dine. The service staff is wonderful - attentive, but not intrusive. The food never disappoints. I had the short ribs and my husband had the salmon with Bearnaise sauce special. Both were delicious. I had the spiced whiskey cocktail and it was excellent as well. Overall, we had an excellent experience.
Good food, decent service, but tables are crowded together, and noise level is extremely high. Doesn't help that they crank the "background" music even higher so it can be heard over all the noise of patrons having to shout across tables to be heard. My wife and I were seated across from each other, and we had difficulty conversing over dinner. We only visit this restaurant every couple of years (because we do enjoy the food), but are always immediately reminded by the noise level that there's a good reason we don't come more frequently. I know Cameron Mitchell likes to offer an "energetic" dining experience, and got to admit his strategy does promote more "turns" of a table each evening, as patrons are eager to finish their dinners and get out of there.
I was disappointed with my experience at Cameron’s. The Dixie Chicken was extremely salty, and they don’t even have listed on the menu that they put pancetta on it. I don’t eat pork and was dismayed to find it on my plate. Even without the pork, the extreme saltiness of it made it inedible. I sent it back and just ordered the mushroom gnocchi and a Caesar salad. They were both just ok. They tasted very basic, and I felt like the flavor profiles should have been elevated for a restaurant of that caliber. The restaurant was also freezing cold. The warm chocolate cake I had a for dessert was the only bright spot of the evening. It was moist and not overly sweet. I frequent many Cameron Mitchell restaurants, and this visit was a low point.
I've had a carrot cake from Cameron Mitchell's before. What I got tonight was not only a tremendous disappointment, but border line a rip off. I got something the size of a Twinkie and paid 9$ for it. It was dry and I will not be picking up another dessert from them again. Sad....
We had a wonderful evening....the service was superb! The waitress was very familiar with the menu items and wine list and could offer recommendations. The food was beyond fabulous! We each had different items and all four of us were raving about our meals.
I enjoyed the meal thoroughly. However, my husband's steak was more rare to medium instead of medium well. I ordered the same cut of steak medium well which was perfect. I was disappointed for him because we were celebrating his 50th birthday. Neither one of us like to complain, so we did not say anything.
We arrived on Tues at 6:00 and were seated immediately at a booth which we had requested. Our server Rachel was outstanding, she did an excellent job all evening explaining specials both food and wine and even making a minor adjustment on the spice in one dinner. Our appetizer of calamari was good but not exceptional, the same can apply to the sides of scalloped potatoes and asparagus that came with the filet. The filet was excellent and the other main courses of shrimp and grits and pork chop and clams were excellent as well. Dessert was creme brûlée, wonderful! Overall a very nice evening, not quite a five star even though Rachel earned hers!
Its been a while since we have dined here. It was a special meal for a special occasion. My wife got a complimentary rose as we were celebrating our anniversary. I had the featured entree which was barramundi, which I have not seen anywhere else we have ever dined. The preparation and flavor was perfect. My wife had a pasta entree that was also fantastic. They comped us a dessert for our anniversary, carrot cake with an over the top decadent cream cheese icing that i am sure was made on location. Couldn't ask for anything more. We will definitely be back in the future.
This was our first time, and well worth the 1 1/2 hour drive to celebrate our Anniversary. They brought a beautiful red rose to the table for my wife. Nice quiet, romantic atmosphere. Meal was exquisite from the warm sour dough bread with roasted garlic (SWEET) to the smoked scallops on cauliflower to the tasty, moist Bread Pudding! We will definitely return for an Encore!
This was our second visit to Cameron's American Bistro and both visits were excellent. There are a lot of menu choices and the kitchen can accommodate food allergies. Food quality is excellent. The service is topnotch with the wait staff being extremely knowledgeable and able to give good recommendations and easily answer questions. Service is prompt. Reservations are a must; both times we were there the restaurant filled up quickly.
The service was great and the food was amazing! The short ribs were cooked to perfection! The sourdough bread was fresh and hot and served with fresh roasted garlic. It was delicious!
The only thing that I can complain about is how close the tables are to each other. We only had guests on one side of us, but they were loud and obnoxious. Had they not been so close (1.5 feet between tables along the bench side) it probably wouldn't have been so awkward. I think it was unusual circumstances though as they had obviously come from the Ohio State vs. Penn State game and obviously had a bit to drink!
This was a great all around meal.! There was zero misses for our party of six. And Randy provided exceptional service. Even offered to have the kitchen make something for us from scratch that wasn’t even on the menu. If you haven’t been I highly recommend you give this place a try you won’t be disappointed!
This restaurant was halfway between our hotels and that is why I chose it. We are all foodies and were delighted with all of our entrees. Flatbread appetizer was quite tasty. The filet was absolutely phenomenal. Quite pricey, but the steak was so very tender. Scallops were very good and a generous serving. Our server recommended the Meyer Lemon Gratin for dessert and it was outstanding. A very enjoyable experience. Nice selection of cocktails at the bar. All employees were friendly and attentive. If we lived in the Columbus area we would dine here often.
