Cameron's American Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Restaurant has a delicious smell and a warm cozy feel right when you walk through the doors. We were a little early for our reservation so our hostess recommended that we sit at the bar while we wait. We ordered some drinks (highly recommend the hibiscus margarita) and the crab cake appetizer while we waited. Our bar tender was really great. She made sure we were taken care of quickly and answered any menu or drink questions that we had knowledgeably. Once we were seated at our table we had our orders taken quickly by a pleasant waitress. She could've checked in with us more often during while we waited for our food but she did really well other than that. My husband and I both ordered the chef's surf and turf special which was phenomenal. We won't come back here often due to how expensive it is but we would definitely consider coming here for a special occasion in the future.
Every year at this time we go for Valentine's celebration. Every year, we are not disappointed. The tastes in your mouth are just delightful in every bite. The desserts are unique and filled with tastes you just can't find anywhere else. There is always an outstanding menu of great tastes and delights. I can't recommend it enough!
Went for Valentines dinner. Incredible ambiance. Really a lovely, cozy and classy place. Great music. Perfect volume and energy level.
Service was a bit slow. But kind and we understood.
I was disappointed at the amount of food I received for what was the $52 special of the night, and the presentation. It looked like any of the other 25-35$ plates. And tasted the same.
A bit pricey for the salads too. Maybe it’s not cool of me to complain about food value, but I will. At least on the special of the night, $50+... I want a lot of food, got it?
I would eat here again, though. All in all, wonderful place. Always a good meal.
Well I made a reservation a week in advance and they sat us at a table so small we had to put our drinks on the window sill. Also the scalloped potatoes had an herb in them that was overpowering and weird. I think it was thyme. The asparagus was great and the filet was good, but overall my least favorite Cameron Mitchell restaurant experience.
We have chosen to celebrate our Valentine's Day anniversary at The American Bistro. We've been coming there for several years, and have even celebrated New Year's Eve a couple of times. It's simply a very comfortable place to relax and enjoy good food with the special people in our lives. The only "down side" would be that we were seated at a very small table along an outside wall. It was very difficult to move even a few inches. My husband is over 6' and I was "boxed in". We were "up to our elbows" with dishes, glasses, flowers, etc.
We've also been to all of the other Cameron Mitchell establishments and have never been disappointed. We are both partial to The Barn in New Albany, however, we will continue to celebrate our anniversary at The Bistro.
As always, can't go wrong with a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. this was our 30th wedding anniversary and we were treated like royalty. Food was fresh and amazing. Great cocktail. Desert was good, but didn't wow me like I am accustomed to. Highly recommend a try!
The service was great, our server was wonderful, but the food was "good" not great. Under achieved on this visit. The Filets were not what we've come to expect, quite frankly we had better filets at Bonefish. And the sides different, not good, not bad just off-center, but maybe this is what the Bistro has become. Visited the Avenue last week (6th time) and the total package was great. The week before was the Barn and again - great.
We went here to celebrate our engagement for a romantic dinner. Our first time, we were blown away by the food and the service! We had the shrimp and grits and salmon. Delicious! The chef sent out a complimentary special dessert which was lemon cheesecake. We will definitely be back! Thank you for making our evening so wonderful.
Table was ready when we arrived at 6:15pm...Service was bad...our waitdress had 3-tables all at one time 4+seats.
1st round drinks long wait...ask for extra sauce for shrimp never got it...had to ask for more bread/butter...had to ask someone to clear our dinner plates...mgr/others walked by w/o stopping to clear or ask about our meal. Over $200 for two not sure of the valve. Carrot cake was excellent.
Everything was as fantastic as always. This is one of our favorite Cameron Mitchell Restaurants. The ambiance is intimate, the food is always superb, and the service is warm, friendly, and wonderfully efficient. Try the Pork Chop and Clams, and the mushroom gnocchi appetizer. They are my favorites. The GM Keith is friendly, helpful, and very handsome. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Cameron’s used to be our favorite C. Mitchell restaurant, however, they have changed their menu quite a bit. Seems there is less healthy options for people who are on diets. The fish special tasted rather “fishy”, chicken is now fried and they eliminated half salads. On top of that, their prices have increased quite a bit. Very disappointed..not sure if they have a new head chef or are just trying out new items, but wish they would return to their former dinner items!
Steaks took a long time to come to table. Steaks were over done. When we were half way thru eating the waitress asked how things were. We told her about steaks. We did not ask for new steaks GM apologized and offered to give additional glass of wine or dessert, We declined. Bill was presented in full. No compensation at all.
This visit was disappointing as far as the food. The meal started off with a Sangria that was sent back – it was sour. Following the disappointing drink was a filet with scalloped potatoes that were both overly salty almost to the point of being unpalatable. The asparagus was mere slices versus the stalks served in other restaurants. Topping off was the dessert - crème brulee was very dense/shallow in the dish it was served in with a burnt top and fruit chutney topping that was sour and visually unapealing. This visit seemed overprice for the quantity and quality of the food.
We went for Restaurant Week because the three course menu had good options. The short ribs were incredible, the service was great, and my husband and I had a lovely evening. It's a little expensive to be a frequent place for us to go (we are both still in college), but it is now at the top of the list for our next special occasion. By far my favorite Cameron Mitchell restaurant.
The food and service were terrific but the noise level and the congested space ruined the experience for us. We couldn’t wait to get the bill so we could get away from the noisy room and claustrophobic feeling we got in the restaurant. We will probably not return.
