Boozy Sunday Brunch. Great atmosphere for a brunch.
enjoyable. very busy bar on weekends without sufficient bar help. waited almost 20 min to get a drink. pleasant service. nice preparation and presentation. nice lounge area available for drinks as well as bar seating
They had several large parties. Service was terrible. They recognized it was unacceptable and did not charge us for our meal. I would never go back.
This was an awesome experience.
Excellent appetizers
Good waitstaff
Love this place! Food was delicious and the sangrias pack a punch. Never disappoints.
We went to Calle ocho to celebrate my fathers birthday and made reservations around 2 weeks in advance and when arriving we were greeted with an abundance of smiles and seated I agree was the best seat in the place. We enjoyed their amazing red sangria as an array of food..... paella is amazing! A great place to enjoy a night
Loved it! Worth every penny!
Fun brunch
We had a 2:15 pm reservation so our food was rushed out and we where rushed out, I recommend getting seated much earlier. Honestly the restaurant shouldn't seat people that late knowing they will rush the party and inconvenience everyone.
Love the ambience, drinks and food! We had two orders of the skirt steak which was unbelievably tender and flavorful. The mojitos are excellent. Festive and very good!
I had a great time tonight!!!
DELICIOUS CREATIVE FOOD. GREAT ATMOSPHERE WITH WONDERFUL MUSIC IN BACKGROUND. COMFORTABLE TO EAT AT THE BAR. GREAT SERVICE TOO.
I love this place. Food is amazing and the service very kind and attentive
Ordered a NY strip steak medium rare with yuca fries; both steak and fries were very tough/dry. Staff was very nice, but food was very disappointing.
Brought my parents, they love it, & food is fabulous!
I'm all about day parties/brunch and for some reason I thought this place would have a lively brunch with music (they make it seem like people dance on tables ??). They have low spanish music playing in the background. Anyway, so I went with my friend, food was delicious but the place is a snooze. I wouldn't go back unless its a date, maybe.
They also bring out the food so quick (within 15 minutes of ordering ) so you will finish up fast and only enjoy 1 complimentary sangria.
It was wack.
The food was expensve and not good. We ordered way too much and could have used advice to that effect from our server. Instead, we wasted a lot of food and money.
Great food. Service lost focus at the end of the meal.
Fabulous spot for Latin cuisine and drinks. 8 different sangrias alone! Paella is wonderful and small plates sharing makes this a great spot for a group get together.
The food would have been better if it wasn’t cold.
This used to be my favorite place for brunch. So much so that we would make reservations months in advance and just work our schedules around it. I went this past weekend and they are no longer serving the pan de bono for brunch. It's not that they aren't serving it at all. They are just only serving it for dinner. This was the only reason I went to Calle Ocho and I am very upset about this menu change. Yes, I can go for dinner now, but I'm not sure I want to give them the satisfaction.
Many years ago Calle Ocho was a wonderful restaurant, but no more. It's so mediocre now, it's puzzling how it continues. The drinks were fine, the food bland and tasteless. We had 1) the skirt steak - Vaca Frita al Caballo - which comes over a huge bed of bland rice with an egg and small slice of avocado, a really terrible mess of a dish for the the best part of $30, and 2) the lechon, a large lump of sweetish pork with some odd plantain thing. The service was extraordinarily rapid, whether we wanted to or not we were back out on the street in less than an hour. AVOID.
Was unfamiliar with type of food so probably should have asked for help with menu. Consequently, was underwhelmed with flavors though food was of good quality. Yucca fries did not exactly blow me away. I guess just expected more spice and flavor.
We had a two thirty reservation and by the time they seated us they told us kitchen was closing in five minutes! Didn't have a chance to even look through the menu just picked the first thing so we could get our order in . Next time they shouldn't allow a reservation that close to kitchen closing.
One of our favorite restaurants on the Upper West side. Always great service, food and perfect atmosphere!
Great food...some of the best salsa verde (with shrimp) I’ve ever had! But as good as the food is here, the service even exceeds it. Great hostess, excellent bartender and fabulous waiters work here. I eat out a lot, and this place has the top 2% of excellent service of places I have dined at. The sangria is excellent both whites and reds. Camarones were tasty and the Paella was outstanding. I highly recommend this place.
One of my favorite places. I love to make a reservation but then just sit in the lounge area of the bar, order some white sangria and some pandebono (Colombian cheese bread...but it’s not cheesy), dip it in the black bean dip, and enjoy!! When I eventually order food, I take most of it home because I enjoyed the sangria and pandebono so much. But the food never disappoints.
Amazing, everything was delicious!
My boyfriend and I went for Sunday Brunch and had an absolutely wonderful time at Calle Ochoe. The waiter was very pleasant and efficient. We didn't have a wait between meals and the different selections of Sangria is a plus. I totally recommend.
I love Calle Ocho and the food is great every time I go. I was a little disappointed this time around, you have 2 hours for brunch and our reservation was at 12:30pm. By 1:55pm, the waiter was saying our time was already up. I mentioned I thought it was for two hours but he said "no" very rudely and said they had to get ready for the 2pm reservations. I guess if you go, book at 12pm or 2pm to get your full two hours....
¡Fantastic service & food is like Abuela made it!
I really enjoyed this restaurant. The sangria was amazing as was our food. The lobster mashed potatoes I want to go back and have again. My girlfriends and I were very happy and enjoyed our night.
Great Latin restaurant that plays classic salsa in the background and gives big portions in food. Pricey but worth it
Had not been to Calle Ocho in a while, and while I used to be a fan, I feel it has really gone down hill. The space and ambience are nice, but the food was really average. Had 2 appetizers and 2 entrees and all were just ok, but are priced for more than ok. Hope it gets better (again).
I went to Calle Ocho last night and I must say that I was really disappointed. Not everything went bad, but to start the food was room temperature, I ordered first as an appetizer the arepa, which was good on taste but I must repeat was room temperature almost cold. I had Vaca frita al caballo, and once again, room temperature and on top of that was tasteless, very very flavorless, unappetizing ugh! Not good at all! (My fiancé ordered the same, had the same observations). The only two things that make this review a 3 star (not 1 as it should be) was the Piña mojitos and my mother dish the lechón which was really good to be fair. My waiter was amigable, but forgot to drinks twice.
The reason I gave service 4 stars because I felt rushed by server to order. We were barely settled in our seats when he asked what we wanted to drink. I had to say can you give us a bit to get ourselves comfortable. Then it happened occasionally throughout time there. Nonetheless, food was delicious and loved the ambience. Will definitely return there.
OUR FOOD, BEVERAGE AND SERVICE WERE GREAT (EXCEPT FOR THE SURLEY HOSTESS WAS NOT SO NICE).
Absolutely fantastico, Bravo!!!!
Great experience! Great service! Will definitely be back soon! The food was delicious!Thank you!
