Such a great brunch deal. Food was fine but the deal definitely made it worth it.
This was our 2nd time here. Service is great! Personally think the appetizers, cocktails, beer/wine, desserts and room are second to none. Guacamole and Sangria are the best! Especially great for a large party. Main dishes are authentic, but hit or miss. Fish was great. Expensive-ish, but you get a lot of food. We will be back.
Always consistently delicious food. Shrimp appetizers are excellent and entrees or main dishes can
often be shared after starter courses. Great desserts!
The food is great at Calle Ocho. It is too noisy, and the music is too repetitive. I wish there would be a la carte options for brunch, though our server did offer us a reduced price if we were not partaking in the sangria.
The food and service was excellent. It's a bit noisy, but then so many restaurants are these days.
Service was really slow. Could hardly get the waitress to come over to refill our sangrias. Food is great though.
Beauty & Essex is one of my go-to places for girls nights. Shareable plates makes dinner easy and the ambiance is everything you want to get yourself amped out for a long night out. Loud bass bumping music, a well-dressed crowd, and good drinks. The food itself is just ok but I still go back because the ambiance makes up for it.
Great place!! Wil definitely recommend to anyone!!
It was amazing and authentic! Our waiter was Alberto from Mexico and he was literally the best watier that I have ever had! His recommendations was superb and the food was spectacular. It even reheats well and the portions are perfect
This is my third time in two months to Calle Ocho, bringing different friends each time. The service and food are spectacular, and the minutia and guacamole are hands down better than Rosa Mexicano. This restaurant is a hidden gem; don’t know why they don’t do a better job marketing it. It’s impossible to know from the street that it’s there. Oh yes, fantastic music!
We came here for a Sunday afternoon brunch with friends. You have to reserve in advance, but it's well worth it ! We enjoyed the complimentary Sangria and delicious food in a festive atmosphere. Portion sizes are generous, so I suggest ordering different dishes and sharing. Was a great time!
I went specifically for brunch and it was a great environment. The sangria was tasty and there were many options. It was one of the most affordable brunches I’ve gone to in the city.
Great sangria for brunch!
Great location but a bit underwhelming. Sangria was not great - food was ok.
Great sangria but lobster salad had too much dressing. 2 peoples food was very late.
Great food and great service. We are from Houston, TX and the New York prices are a lot higher than we are used too but everything was great. We were in town to visit family and they are local to NY and they loved this as well.
No complaints everything was great
Every bit of our experience was superb, especially the hospitality. This family owned business treated us like family. The entire staff worked as a team to make certain that every detail was attended to. The ambiance of the glorious old Excelsior Hotel is a great setting for this eatery. The calamari was sublime and the paella passed the strict standards of my Latino guest. ¡Muy Autentico!
Wonderful evening. The food and atmosphere was perfect!
One of my favorite restaurants on the UWS. They serve my FAVORITE bread ever (but only at night). Would recommend to come for brunch over coming for dinner. Brunch menu is absolutely mind blowing and comes with unlimited Sangria (many different types to choose from).
We enjoyed our dinner, our waiter was a little "off" but there was a lot of other staff. We enjoyed our meals and it was a lively atmosphere for a Sunday night.
Never usually have an issue here, food and sangria are great. But this time the server was particularly rude.
I visit this restaurant often, it is always fun. Good food, good drinks, reasonably priced - enough said!
Everything was great just a bit to loud
I love Calle Ocho. It’s usually kind of hard to get a brunch reservation, but my friends and I were lucky to get one. The food and drinks are amazing.
Great time. Great staff and superb managements. Everyone has a fun time. Food was great and the assortment of breads was golden.
No wonder I was able to make reservation for brunch two days before. The restaurant has changed dramatically, in a bad way. Such a pity to see that
We had Christmas Ever dinner here. The food was great. I recommend the "vaca frita."
I've been dining at Calle Ocho since 1995 (beginning in their previous location) and it has remained one of my absolute favorite restaurants ever since. Their bread, which is to die for, is just as delicious as the first time I ever tried it. Their food has remained consistently good, the service, hospitality, and friendliness are incredibly warm, and their new location (8 years now), is one of the few nice restaurants in NYC that you can actually have a conversation in
Food was delicious! Loved everything. Only complaint is that I indicated it was a Birthday on my reservation and no one seemed to know that when we were there. Dessert cake without a candle. Otherwise it was wonderful! Great service, fab drinks and fresh flavorful food.
My girlfriend and I love Calle Ocho...best brunch experience in Manhattan. Food and Sangria on point
Brunch is awesome. Prompty service, good food, great sangria variety!!
Calle Ocho is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with a very creative "South of the Border" menu. Though a bit pricey and upscale, it's worth it, and is great for a special occasion. Try the mojitos, they're excellent.
Food was very salty, ropa Veja. Service was slow and unattentive
Good food, cocktails a little too sweet, good service
My experience was okay.... I’ve gone to calle before where they use to be so attentive with everything. We came on a Sunday and right when we sat down the waiter rushed over to us to inform us the kitchen closes @3pm. So already we felt rushed i just feel like if the kitchen closes at 3pm don’t sit people down at 2:30 and so forth. The waiter was standoff-ish and was no where to be found at one point. Didn’t check on us, it took us 15-20 mins to get a second round of drinks. We had to call over a different waiter to have him then call the attention of our actual waiter. From the moment we sat down I felt like they were trying to get rid of us. In and out where i bought my two girlfriends to this place to catch up. We were so ready to leave and take our business else where.
Fun brunch spot in the city. You purchase an entree for $30 & bottomless sangria is included. Great cuban food!
Overall Calle Ocho is a great value for a boozy brunch. It was packed when we arrived for out 1215pm reservation and everyone was enjoying themselves. The Sangria was a little on the watered down side for my liking but still good. I stuck with the reds made it through 4 glasses before calling it quits. Food was very good. I had the Vaca Frita and it was cooked perfectly. The only downside of the meal is the "bread" basket and the orange butter at the beginning of the meal. The "bread" was stale mini muffins that had no place on the table. Calls Ocho would be better off buying loaves of Cuban bread or Italian bread and slicing it and serving that to the tables.
