The service was excellent! Loved the cerviche sampler!! So delicious! Very good service!
One of my favorite brunch spots!! Sangria and food is amazing!
Favorite brunch spot hands down!
Restaurant was in a different location than the last time I was there. Much smaller in size and not nearer as well attended as what I was used. The menu is also more of a challenge in that it is very difficult to understand the food description. The good new was that our waiter was very helpful in understanding the menu.
Absolutely beautiful with great food.
Great food.Great staff. Will come again
Great latin food in UWS! Tasty and all the staff is wonderful.
Food was great. Second time at this location . Will visit again soon
We went on a Sunday night. It was fairly empty, which was surprising, so it was rather quiet in the restaurant. Usually the restaurant is busy and on the noisy side. Food is good and portions are fair. It is not an inexpensive restaurant. Free sangria on Sunday nights!
The food is AMAZING. We had a party of 14 guest and the waiter Heather seemed a little overwhelmed. Beside that the drinks were good once we got them. The music is extremely high. We had to keep asking them to bring it down like 7 to 10 times. It also didnt help that our table was under two speakers. The manager was very friendly and assisted us when we had a problem.
Food and service excellent!!
Calle Ocho offers a fantastic dining experience. This was my first time attending their brunch with free Sangria. My group enjoyed it very much. We loved the menu options. Everyone raved about their food. We all tried different options. I have had dinner there and what I love the most is the ambiance. Love the Latin music in the background. I would highly recommend Calle Ocho. It's one of my favorite restaurants!
The hostess was friendly and welcoming. The servers were not very familiar with the menu and couldn’t answer our simple questions. They were, however, respectful and polite.
The food was tasty. We enjoyed it.
This restaurant was unusually dark. The Latin music they were playing was fantastic but more appropriate for dancing than eating a meal.
We were disappointed that the servers were not more familiar with the menu and a bit friendlier.
Overall, it was a good dining experience but we don’t plan to return.
Best plantain chips I've ever had! Shared a variety of appetizers with my SO and we absolutely loved them all. Highly recommend! Hidden gem!
Delicious food and the service was impeccable. The menu has a good and varied selection of dishes with Peru, Argentina and Mexico among other countries covered. Excellent cocktail menu with reasonable (for NYC) prices.
Came here with a group of friends for brunch for my birthday.
Food is good, everyone was happy with what they ordered.
Wait staff came by at regular intervals to check if we wanted refills on the unlimited sangrias.
Drinks were tasty
Ambience is great for a group - a bit loud, festive
You get a bread plate piled high with mini breads, like corn bread and sweet fried dough, when you put in your order. Yumm.
If anyone in your group doesn’t drink they will still have to pay for an entree which includes unlimited sangria. No alternatives - this makes sense (no one can cheat by getting a cheap dish and drinking someone else’s drinks) but also means u pay regardless of how little u drink.
Wait staff will come around to constantly check if you’re done - they are trying to clear tables for other groups, so understandable.
I thought there’d be something done for my bday since they’d been notified when the reservation was made. Nope. No bday song, no happy bday wishes, no bday dessert, no candle or anything with the one dessert my friends ordered to share. Nada. I enjoyed my brunch anyway but if ur expecting special bday treatment - don’t.
Overall a fun brunch but would only come with people who’ll actually enjoy having unlimited sangria and not for a special occasion/bday.
The food and service was excellent. We all ordered something different, ceviche, paella, duck and shredded beef with plantains. Everyone was happy with their meal. I marked it lower for ambiance because the noise level was on the high side. It is one large dining area. Everything else was terrific, so I highly recommend Calle Ocho.
Appetizers and main course were delicious and the service was excellent. Will definitely go back again
Awesome!!! I love bringing people here!!!
This is a must for brunch every trip we make to NYC!! Always so much fun, the food is excellent and we just have an all around great time, every time! Our server was extra nice this time and was able to score us some of the black bean dip that is normally only served with the cheeses bread during dinner so that was extra awesome! There were some mix ups with our entrees, but we decided to just keep what they brought and everything was delicious!
We were a group of 6 and we ordered several dishes from the appetizer and ceviche menu. Everything was delicious. We especially liked the grilled shrimp and the lobster ceviche. The plantain chips with black bean dip, great! The guacamole very good.
Went to brunch with coworkers on a Saturday. The food was good, generous where you don’t need it like heaps of rice and for price, I received curled halved shrimp rather than med/large sized shrimp. Lucky if there were three. Poached eggs were good. Everyone was for the most part happy with their food but maybe underwhelming considering a $35 brunch price. It’s inside a hotel and they served bottomless drinks. It’s a pint, they’re strong, and they do keep it coming. If you are not drinking, I don’t believe it’s worth the value and the rushed experience. Last brunch seating is before 3 and you have to put your food order in by 2:55. Drinks keep coming until 4:20/30. I wouldn’t rush to go back but worth it for the sangrias. Mixed crowd. Find people dressy, others like casual tourists. Gets loud for brunch. Been to dinner long time ago. Recommend the food and ambiance for then more.
Service took a little while, and the entrees were expensive but when you throw in the all you can drink sangria, it is one of the best boozy brunch deals around!
Awesome brunch spot! Drinks strong but still very tasty. Food is great value as well.
The experience is cool and the brunch sangrias are amazing really. My steak came out lukewarm as well as some of the rice too. The taste wasn't anything special also- but sweet plantains side was great. Then the service could've been better. It was fine but i expected a more attentive waitstaff - plates weren't cleared for it main course and felt like we were rushed a tiny bit.
We love the Chicharon, it keeps us coming back. The mohito is also excellent.
Food yummy, ambiance too dark for my taste. hard to read menu.
This is one of my favorite NYC restaurants. The ambiance is great! Love the music! The food is also excellent. Portions are HUGE so I always have a doggy bag to take home.
We had a fun girl’s brunch! The food was delicious as was the bread! The sangria was plentiful.
Great brunch!!! Sangria was amazing! Food was very good and original
I always come here for brunch and I love the food, especially the sangria. But this time the service was slow and when the food arrived it was cold! I’ve been coming here for over 3 years and I was highly disappointed! Hopefully they don’t lose their touch because they will definitely lose me as a customer.
The venue itself is really nice: large and with a good atmosphere. The food was unfortunately disappointing: the ceviche was not the best and it's hard to imagine how such a simple dish can be ruined. The service, however, was lovely.
Great service and food.
My friends were beyond excited!!
Would definitely recommend
Food was not Cuban or Latin like and menu was very limited. Missing several classic Cuban items and dishes.
I used to come here all the time. What happened ? The food extra salty, the ambiance was blah, and the price of it all... not worth it! Not even the drinks were good. We went on a Friday night and it wasn’t what we expected.
The restaurant is celebrating their 20th anniversary and I’ve been a customer since day one. I don’t get here as often as I would like, but every time I do come, the food and service have gotten better and better. It is an exciting dining experience every time.
Place is nice, service is good and ambience is good but the food is just awful.
I would recommend it to someone who likes Cuban food.
Celebrated my nieces birthday there. Everything was wonderful from the moment we entered. Special request of a round table was met and we were greeted immediately by a charming waiter who offered sangria on the house for each of us. The house dinner rolls were delicious ,baked fresh and served warm. From the appetizers right through desserts ,every bite was delicious offering a Variety if blended flavors. We will surely be back.
Was a little disappointed because I was told we could have sangria for two hours but as soon as we stated we didn’t want dessert the waiter never came back with more drinks. Was given the check 20 mins before the time limit too. Would like to try it again.
