Calle Dao - Bryant Park
The cuisine, cocktails and décor of Calle Dao strive to transport our guests back to El Barrio Chino when it was at the height of its existence. Calle Dao has created mouthwatering dishes that seamlessly blend Cuban staples with Asian flavors. The cocktails, created by Mixologist Joy Daniel, also meld the old world with the new using historic names for libations with modern ingredients
Step into a bygone era and enjoy a modern dining experience at Calle Dao.
The food was amazing, but the drinks were too sweet & was very hard to hear the other people at my table.
Yes i would recommend Calle Dao to my friend. My waiter was amazing, the food delicious, the ambiance perfect, noise level good and the music perfect. Everybody is happy at this establishment
The food was great; but the service very very poor. We waiting over 25 minutes just to place our order and we were sitting right next to the kitchen. When they bought out the food they forgot someones order and had to rush back in to make it. Not thrilled.
So all we saw was the brunch menu and decided to go but we didn’t show up until dinner. This restaurant exceeded my expectations.
My boyfriend got the beef and broccoli- this was delicious and an unexpected treat- similar to a twist on ramen.
I got the roasted chicken, it was very good I would ask for some extra sauce.
The CAULIFLOWER was amazing!!!!!! I’ve never enjoyed a vegetable this much! Must try!
Bottomless drinks on Sunday amazing and very reasonability priced
It was an early birthday celebration but I truly enjoyed my first visit to Calle Dao. The food was outstanding.
We keep returning to this neighborhood gem. A wonderful fusion of Cuban and Asian cuisine makes for an inviting menu. We always start with the raw oysters during Happy Hour- fabulous! From there on, we usually get a variety of apps, the huge Tiger Salad, and share a larger entree. Never made it to dessert- no room!
The food was very good and the service was excellent. I would definitely return for brunch or a business meeting.
This was a great find! My friend and I chose it because of the location and that it was a fusion of Cuban and Chinese! I must say it was a gem! We were so pleased with the Happy Hour menu, especially the oysters and caipirinha! The Tiger salad was amazing, made with baby kale and bursting with flavor! It’s somewhere between a salad and a garnish. The decor reminded me of a bygone era, charming and nostalgic! The staff was all pleasant and welcoming. A special thank you to Justin for being such an attentive waiter and making great recommendations off the menu. We definitely will be back and maybe try the brunch!
Restaurant is very festive and fun appearing.
Drinks(margaritas) were over-iced but tasty.
Food was very good.
Great food, great service as always!! I brought a colleague with me this time and now he is hooked!!😉
Food was amazing and they have several vegan options which makes it great for everyone!
The environment was good for after work, busy and very noisy. Good for a drink with colleagues, maybe not for a date or wanting to easily hear someone. The food was just ok, the yucca fries were hard and dry, the dumplings were ok. Drink prices were $6 for a beer and $8 for a drink for happy hour.
Great spot! Good drinks and apps, loud for conversation but great for a get together
Fun atmosphere and nice mix of food and drinks. We shared an few small plates/side dishes (cashew cauliflower side was awesome). And then we had the shiitake mushroom lo mien bowl, which was very flavorful. no complaints and we would definitely go back!
Everything was great and food was so good
This was our first time dining at Calle Dao. My friends and I had a great time! Everyone enjoyed their food, but our server really made the experience amazing! We had a relatively large group of 6 people, which the restaurant was able to accommodate even though it was a busy night. There were some serious food allergies in the group and I was grateful that our server was extremely conscientious and kind. The restaurant was a perfect balance of a casual but fun ambiance and delicious food at a reasonable price, which is very hard to find in this neighborhood in Manhattan.
Very popular happy hour. Quiets down some after 7pm. Food is excellent. Mojito’s are great
Amazing Cuban cuisine, Great choiceWill certainly be back with friends.
Great service and food. We had chicken and seafood paella. Drinks were good too. The only issue is cramped seatings, I felt like I had a date with tables next to me. So if you are going for a date night - might consider smth else. And 3 ladies that were left from happy hour were extremely drunk, loud and annoying. I would give this place a try on a brunch but not for a date night
This restaurant offers cuban-chinese fusion and does it very well. We tried cuban sandwich spring rolls, lechon with bao buns, glazed salmon, beef with broccoli, cheesecake flan, bunuelos, and sangria.
All of the dishes had excellent presentation, quality, and taste. We dined early before the happy hour crowd arrived, so the noise level was not very loud. This was an excellent dining experience.
Food was fantastic. Every dish we ordered was great. Friendly stuff. Overall experience was excellent.
Nulla di speciale , cibo non ha soddisfatto le mie aspettative . Servizio ottimo.
Thanks to Calle Dao for remembering my birthday with a delicious flan, compliments of the house.
We all thought the food was very good. It is a fun menu and we ordered several appetizers to try - we liked everything including main courses that were cooked very well. Unfortunately, they do not have enough servers, the restaurant was packed and I only saw 2 waiters on the floor, the buzz boy was helpful. This is a place where you need to speak very loud to have a conversation.
The waiters were absolutely nice and that translated to the customers being funny and kind. Great drinks as well!
I loved the “outdoor” seating. I was meeting with my sisters and we just loved it. Went for happy hour and stayed way into dinner hours. The Sangria was delicious! I would go back.
The ambiance is amazing!!! Food excellent!! Service could’ve been a bit better but they were very pleasant.
Meh. The food was okay, but for the concept (Cuban Chinatown) not that inventive or flavorful. Despite a nice looking bar, the cocktail menu was simplistic (Cuba Libre!). Good for a casual meal or drinks with friends but not a destination.
I work in the area so I’ve been here numerous times. The hostess that works during the week during like happy hour time isn’t friendly or welcoming at all. I was actually happy to see she wasn’t there on Sunday when I went for brunch. Overall it’s a great spot with great food and good drinks. Other than the hostess, I’d give it 5 stars!
The menu was interesting so it was worth trying once, but a novelty restaurant I wouldn’t care to go to frequently. The portions were very large (we would have preferred half the size at half the price!) very convenient to Grand Central Terminal.
Fun ambiance. Wait staff helpful and attentive. Food delicious. Highly recommend the cauliflower as an appetizer. Each person had a different meal and thought it was wonderful. Great cocktails made the way you like or try their specialty drinks. Great location. Highly recommend.
Went for Sunday lunch. Was initially disappointed that the menu was a brunch menu. But all our appetizers, dishes and desserts were creative and delicious. Would definitely return for brunch. And can’t wait to go back and try regular menu.
Cute spot, great drinks (we had mojitos and sangria), for appetizers we had the spring rolls and ceviche - both excellent. As was the paella I shared with my daughter (can't remember what the others had - but they were happy too). Our waiter was very friendly and efficient!
Friendly service, good food. Had the soup and sandwich lunch special—good black bean (needed some salsa for heat) and a tasty (if not totally traditional) take on a Cuban sandwich.
Good spot near Bryant Park and the library.
Great service from host and bartender. They were really nice and welcoming. The food was delicious; had pork dumplings & mushroom lo mein. I’ll likely be back. The cocktails looked really good.
My close friends and I came to celebrate a promotion for brunch and had a fabulous time! We loved the lively jovial ambience where we could still hear the conversation amongst ourselves. As a vegetarian I had a great meal! The caipirinhas were great and deceptively strong (wink). The shiitake spring rolls were delicious. My friends had the oxtail croquetas and really enjoyed them and could have easily had a second order. All of our entrees were tasty: mushroom sandwich, steak and eggs, chorizo and garbanzo hash and the salmon with the mixed green salad! We also shared a side of yuca fries with two yummy sauces. For dessert we shared the bunuelos (fried small donuts) with chocolate sauce. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely come back! The service was excellent and the servers were attentive.
It’s my go to place; the food is amazing and the ambiance is just right; not too noisy but not boring either; great crowd too; you get to see a very diverse crowd;
This was my 2nd brunch at Calle Dao and it was even better than the first! Food is amazing... drinks are delicious (and the wait staff definitely makes sure you get your money's worth with the bottomless), service was great! This is one of my favorite brunch spots anytime I'm in the city!
fun place with friendly service and very good food!
