Caleb's American Kitchen
Adjacent to Peddler’s Village in Bucks County, PA, Caleb's is open daily for breakfast, lunch and for dinner. Currently accepting reservations for dinner only.
Everything was great as usual. The only not so great thing was our server was not very pleasant. We have been to Caleb’s many times and this was a first!
My complements to Chef Jake and Caleb. It was a perfect setting for our ladies night out!
Foods and services were good.
We have enjoyed Caleb’s several times over the past six months and were anxiously anticipating a great later evening (7pm) Mother’s Day dinner. We arrived early for our reservation and were not seated till about 7:15. It took the waiter 20 min to take our order from the fixed price menu then we waited 25 min for our salads and another 35 min for our entrees. We only received our entrees when we asked the waiter about it. Our entrees were barely warm and the food was not at the quality we’d come to expect at Caleb’s. It was clear that they’d either forgotten our order or that the food was waiting to be delivered. The manager tried to make it right by discounting the bill and giving us an extra dessert but the overall experience was really disappointing. We won’t be going back anytime soon.
We started off with lobster and crab chowder which was absolutely delicious. Big chunks of meat in a creamy base warmed us on a rainy day. I chose the crab cakes and wasn’t disappointed. They were served with Couscous. My husband chose the salmon with coconut sticky rice and mango salsa. He too was pleased with his choice. Would definitely return to try their regular menu. Nice service and atmosphere.
I am gutted to have to write this. We really enjoyed this restaurant in the past but our experience was so negative that it has turned us off, possibly forever. I had brought my family including people from far away here for a heightened experience and what we received was anything but....first, the waitress was very terse with us from beginning to end. She tsk-ed when my son ordered a cappuccino. Strange. My wife simply asked if she could get chicken on a salad and the waitress looked at her and said, "we don't do that chicken on the salad thing here.." Then when we asked for the check in the end my wife thought the waitress didn't hear us since she never acknowledged the ask so she asked for it again and the waitress responded, ..."I heard you the first time..." At one hour in we still didn't have our food so I went up to the gent at the front (the owner?) and asked. He apologized and was very nice and then 10 minutes later it came out. However, the two vegan dishes were pitiful. Small and slight, they were at best appetizers. In all fairness everyone else's dish was very good and robust. When he came over to see how we were doing my wife was very honest about her dish and he again apologized but said he wanted to make her happy....he said, "I am going to bring you a desert and put it in front of you...I want you to be happy." We waited....and no desert came out. We paid and left. A very negative experience and a sad one at that since we really had high hopes for this place based on another time we ate there. Perhaps it was an off night for the waitress and the restaurant but I felt compelled to share.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Love Caleb's.
Great food, efficient and courteous service. Highly recommended.
We had a fantastic Mother’s Day breakfast and all of our meals were great and an awesome menu, need to go back all !
Always a great meal. Food is fresh and local. Caramel brownie dessert was awesome.
Cable's menu never disappoints. The choices are varied and hit a lot of palates. Our meal was served piping hot and expertly prepared. We are NEVER disappointed. Also, we love seeing Caleb out in the dining area interacting with his clients. Highly recommend this gem in the Village!
Excellent as always! Love Tuesday burger night!!
This is the second time that we have been to Caleb’s for the evening meal. We enjoyed it both times. We will be back. We will recommend the place. Caleb’s is an asset to the area.
The food was amazing as always!
Everyone should try the pork chop !!
The blondie sundae was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had!
This is one thing of my favorite restaurants.
My only issue is the service, I always seem to get the same server who acts like I’m bothering her by being there.
The subpar service won’t stop me from going back hopefully I won’t get the server again.
Delicious food and welcoming atmosphere. Staff was very attentive, portions were substantial and had a great dining experience overall for dinner.
One of the best visits at this restaurant and I’ve been here a few times.
Fresh food expertly prepared. A light, bright dining area. We will be back!
Consistently good food
We were there for dinner during Bucks County Restaurant Week and participated in the fixed price offering. Excellent choices that night and great experience for our group. Filet cooked as requested and several of out party selected the salmon that was also prepared as ordered. Will return soon!
Food is delicious, service attentive and chef/owner always present and personable.
It was Restaurant Week. Caleb's has been on my radar for awhile, and we finally got to experience it. There was nothing over the top beyond great ingredients and expert preparation. My wife had the surf and turf offering and I opted for the salmon. Starter course for my wife was a magnificent wild mushroom and brie bisque, as I opted for the greens salad with heirloom tomatoes, dressed with a strawberry balsamic dressing. Desserts for restaurant week was a sampling of three. The included raspberry cheesecake, flourless chocolate cake, and vanilla ice cream. Ashley, our server, for the night was great. We will be back. Oh yea; BYOB, but on this night we decided not to bring wine.
Caleb's was as busy as it could be but everything was supurb and while loud they've added some ceiling sound absorbers which keeps it bearable so you can enjoy the great food and service. Best BYO around.
WOW! Every time we have eaten here the food has been amazing. Clearly one of the top restaurants in the area in terms of perfectly cooked food with a innovative flavor profile. On top of that they have reasonable prices and it's a BYOB to boot.
Food was delicious and wait staff was very attentive.
Perfect, as always!
Caleb'S IS ONE of the best restaurants in the area, if not the best. The food is always fresh, beautifully presented and delicious. I have dined at Caleb'S for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Caleb'S never disappoints.
lots of great options on Monday local's night - appetizer, main dish which was quite generous and dessert was perfect (small but absolutely delicious)!
Great Easter brunch! Good selection of entrees and reasonably priced. Loved the BYO mimosas and bloody Marys!
We have been coming to Caleb’s since it opened and have never once had a bad meal. The flavor combinations they create are unique and delicious, and the presentation of the food itself is mouth-watering. The meals are also affordable because it’s a BYOB. Relaxed but upscale ambiance. Always a wonderful experience!
Excellent food and creatively prepared! Never disappoints!
We always enjoy meals at Caleb's. Food is always well prepared and presented so well. Service is great. They are all so nice and treat their patrons well. Very professional. And more important...great food!
We love the imaginative food and ambience at Caleb’s. We simply have a problem with one server that we seem to get far too often. She is terse and rude when waiting on us. When thanked for serving us for instance, she walks away without ever replying you‘re welcome or any common courtesy reply. Last time, she wouldn’t even tell us the specials saying “I know what you’ll order so why bother telling you the specials”. From the first time we went to Caleb’s, she was aggravated that we didn’t order the more expensive entrees! I presume she was most interested in a bigger tip! She has consistently appeared to dislike her job and in particular-us and therefore makes our dining experience less enjoyable. We dine out often, usually have a pleasant time, and find her attitude so off putting. When we’ve had other wait staff, we totally enjoy our meal. When Kimberly waits on us, it’s a downer. We didn’t want to complain to the owner because we didn’t want to make a scene and we love his restaurant but we hate to have to deal with this waitress!
Monday Local's Night was fantastic and exceeded expectations. Chef Caleb greeted us at the door, which is a rarity. The server was very attentive and accommodating. She gave me options that were not on the menu for dessert as I am dairy and gluten free. They do a Burger night so we will be back to check that out as well. Its BYOB so the only thing I would say is the server really did not offer us drink options. She brought water immediately and asked if we needed wine glasses. We replied no, as we were not drinking that evening, but she didn't offer any other beverages, also did not offer coffee or tea with dessert. Missing the boat on that.
Would have given 5 stars as I had thought in the past except for one annoying practice regarding the food which is the total lack of vegetable side choices. Last vist had the Cowboy pork chop which I often get which as usual was excellent (although a little smaller than in the past). It comes with "the vegetable of the day" labelled roasted vegetables but what I call Zuchini-squash crap especially toward the evening when it is woefully overcooked perhaps from sitting in the pot too long. When asked about a substitute the server nicely said only what may be served with the other dishes which except for a cold brussel sprout slaw all came with the zuchini crap! Come on Caleb, whats it take to have a few bags of broccoli, green beans, peas and or carrots on hand-don't think it would be a budget buster-Wegmans sells them for 99 cents a bag and you can even micro wave in a few minutes. Would be a very customer friendly thing to do.
I came here with friends for brunch and there was a party going on so the noise level was high, though that wasn't the issue. The service was incredibly slow as a result, it took over 45 minutes for us to get our food. When we brought it up to the waitress, she was unapologetic. The food also came out incorrect - wrong temperatures on meat and incorrect dishes.
Very busy for Sunday Brunch. Clean, modern, bright setting. Interesting menu. Been on our get there list, so glad we did.
Always a wonderful experience. Food is delicious and well presented. Service is consistently helpful and pleasant. Thanks for a terrific evening!
We were seated promptly Friday night and the waiter came over, rattled off the specials and took our wine glasses off the table. He then asked us if we were ok. My wife told him that she was bummed out now because the wine glasses were removed and I told him we were going to need them since we all had brought some. Guess he didnt see our wine totes on the floor - probably because he was in such a hurry. To his defense, the restaraunt was full. Still... He promptly set them back down and scurried away without a word. The rest of the night the service was minimal at best. Guess his knickers got in a twist and he didn't pay much attention to us until it was time for the bill and he was suddenly polite again. Sorry, too little too late. The owner and the rest of the staff were nice. The food was ok but nothing great. BYOB made the evening with good friends nice.
I take my parents to this restaurant when I come up for visit from Maryland. Food is fresh and tasty. Ambiance is inviting. Staff is friendly and professional. The restaurant feels trendy with a touch of comfortable local joint. Really enjoyed the whole dining experience. The chef/owner (I think) gave us a free dessert liquor which was icing on the cake.
