The menu choices were a bit boring, too much red meat, and pricey.
Need a better selection of appetizers.
Staff were great.
Service was quite inattentive, we waited approx 30 min for food order, and it was not complicated (2 breakfasts, one salad). Even had to ask waitperson to check on order. If it had been swamped it would be understandable but it was after lunch hour and not crowded
We went for Sunday brunch - disappointing
I ordered American breakfast which included 2 bacon and 2 sausage - there was no sausage - asked and she brought it later
My husband had shaved prime rib and eggs - beef was very, very tough
We go every year to celebrate 3 birthday. The best part was being together. The food was average and the service average.
Truly, the best fish and chips I've had in years. The faux newspaper was a wonderful touch, taking me back in memory to many fish and chip carryouts on greasy newspapers while living in Scotland and England.
My wife (it was our anniversary) had the lamb burger, and it was fabulous, too. Just being together and able to enjoy the wonderful view in a relaxed and friendly surrounding made for a perfect anniversary lunch. We will definitely return, and probably not wait a year to do so.
I also want to say a good word for Kyle who was our server. He was friendly and attentive, an excellent waitperson. Best of all, he reminded us of our oldest son, John-Michael, who also worked as a waitperson years ago at the Calcutta Grill. So it was almost like being served by our son, which was an added pleasure on our anniversary.
We went here for my Wife's Birthday recently. We also had family from out of town and were excited to show them the Calcutta Grill, as we have really enjoyed it in the past. Unfortunately, the dinner went down hill fast. Over the evening, this included:
- getting food out of order
- missing a salad for my daughter, then not being able to find our server.
- The replacement salad was obviously thrown together from scraps.
- my wife's dish being undercooked.
- Waiting 15 minutes for a replacement, only to get her original plate back, with half still undercooked, but the rest overcooked
- Not being able to find our server again for a long time
There was more, but we had really given up at this point. It is unlikey we will return.
Our experience was a bit schizophrenic here for a Pre-Valentine's Day date. We were seated immediately to a quiet table in the corner with a magnificent view of the golf course, Bellevue, and Seattle Skylines with the lakes in-between. We started with a bowl of French Onion Soup (pretty darn good) and the beet/heirloom carrot/goat cheese dressing salad (pretty tasteless). My wife ordered the Sea Scallops with White Beans and Chorizo and I ordered the signature dish 6 hour braised short ribs. The Sea Scallops were cooked nicely but if there were any more salt in the dish, it would be inedible. Overall, almost good, but not really. My braised short ribs were another story. I kinda knew it was gonna be disappointing when the black tennis ball-sized piece of short rib kinda rolled around on my plate instead of squished into tender pieces under my knife and fork. The potatoes au gratin were undercooked and had an apple like texture. Pretty disappointing. The cuisine this time was a fatal flaw for the Calcutta Grill, but view and service were both excellent. I'll mention that we've had good experiences in the Pub next door several times, but were pretty sad to not have restaurant side be similar. PS: To note the great service, I left my coat and had no issues getting it back the next day with a smile from the friendly staff.l
Went for the view with an out of town guest. The service was non existent. The wait person was OK but we had to ask for water every time it was needed and then the bus person would only fill up the glass for the one who requested it. Looks like they have a bunch of young, inexperienced kids there who don't know what their job entails. I wasn't even done as I wanted to look at the dessert menu and the server brought our bills.
A fantastic venue for a small 50th birthday celebration! Our food was fantastic- fillets, a chicken dish, a seafood pasta dish- num! The ambiance was perfect- not loud at all. Our server - Donte?- I think, was extremely accommodating and friendly. He had great suggestions and made us feel like the most important table in the room. The view is spectacular any month of the year. I highly recommend this restaurant for brunch, lunch and dinner. And those Bloody Marys? Famous!!!
Beautiful view ! Service is always slow but waiter was excellent. Food was delicious.
This is the second time the very same wait staff member who served us spilled food on our table and guest. Not sure if they are short staffed during lunch hour or if she is just always too distracted, but it really did not bode well at our table at all.
Service and ambiance were good. Food was very marginal for the price. Do not order steaks!
Food took a while, waitress was not super attentive, asked for extra item in salad and did not get that, two salads asked for dressing on the side did not get that. Food was very good though and servings were bigger than expected. View was tremendous.
Caprese salad had only one piece of cheese with 5 slices of tomato. Not a great value for $13. And the salmon was over cooked. To top it off, we were given someone else’s food - twice; they did at least acknowledge their mistakes right away. Beautiful facility in a great location; if run properly I think it could be a gold mine. Oh well.
We spent over 200 and the food was just mediocre. Very dissiponted with the French Onion Soup, Short Ribs, seafood Pasta (so fishy the seafood was not fresh) and the desserts tasted like they had been in the refrigerator for days. Our bottle of wine was good. Such a sad experience for a place that sits on top of the world.
Great food, service a bit slow but nice people. View is spectacular
The food and service were not as good as past visits. The signature Short Ribs dish was tender as usual but very salty. Also, there seemed to be confusion on getting correct food to our table. Maybe they were short staffed over the holidays.
My family enjoyed dining at Calcutta Grill. Overall our experience was great. We would definitely return and the view was great.
Always takes a bit of time for service. Pretty pricey, but it's always been. A bit of a limited menu. Ordered an appetizer which did not come before the meal. Came with it...appetizers should come first. A friend's fish tacos were very tough and a salad which came with the portobello mushroom sandwich was very wilted.
Friday evenings with Bagpipe makes this a remarkable experience for out of town guests,
Food was great, my mom is vegetarian and they made custom sandwich for her and it was better than a regular sandwich most of the shops offer. We had wonderful time
Ok food but not great. great service tho
My guests thoroughly enjoyed the fare and the scenic view. We came early afternoon and avoided the crowd. The waitress was great and attended to our needs. Allix was very sweet and accommodating to take pictures, so was the receptionist!!!
We love taking guests to this place.
Our niece will be celebrating her b'day at a private lunch in the Spring!!!
Thanks for providing our out-of-town guests with a wonderful lunch and setting!!!
You simply cannot beat the stunningly gorgeous views here! The food is good, although not stellar. Service very spotty with untrained, inexperienced wait staff, nice but not gracious nor adept. Good spot to grab a bite but don't expect an extraordinary dining experience.
A great place for business lunch my customers always enjoy.
Three friends celebrating a birthday. Food, seating location, waitress, and atmosphere were nice. Plan to dine again.
Accommodated our party as requested.
Although I have been very happy with the quality of breakfast at Calcutta Grill - Golf Club at Newcastle, on my visit 11/18/2017, the french toast was gooey inside and the bacon under-cooked. Service, ambience and view great, but food this time was not up to the usual high-standard I have come to expect.
One of the best views you will find on the Eastside. Great menu, excellent service, and a beautiful setting.
it was a beautiful night with the lights and snow. Food for the most is good. Calamari was not the best. Breading was too heavy and the sauce was not good.
This is a place we bring all our out of town guests; the view is incredible and the food is good. And this is a quick and easy go to restaurant for us because we live so close. The prices do seem to have gone up making this a more expensive quick dinner option.
Service was sub-par - we wanted a really long time to get anything, but that speaks to our server and not the restaurant as a whole. However, food and ambiance of the restaurant were great!
Pepper was no good. Not cooked enough. Needed meat.
We eat at this restaurant often and has been getting worse a little at a time. Disappointing the last 3 times we have eaten here.
Enjoyed the view and the beautiful sunset. Service was smart and the food was very good. Prime rib was excellent.
We had such a fantastic time.
Great view, excellent service, and a delicious meal!
overall a good experience but desert took almost 20 min to arrive ...beautiful view with great ambience...really enjoyed the bagpipes player at sunset.
Our waitress was awesome...an absolute sweetheart. Felt bad for her (and us) to have to be around the totally foul mouthed and inappropriate table of six beside us. First time we have been around this type of behavior at NCC. However it is otherwise one of our most favorite places for special occasions (49th wedding anniversary) so I am sure we will be back in spite of this hopefully one time disturbance.
waitress did a great job, great attitude and friendly
