I couldn’t understand why the chef couldn’t make poached eggs for the crab Benedict well done. The waiter gave us the reason I won’t even tell you what he said made no sense. I also saw the table next to me return the eggs Benedict and ordered something else. Not happy.
Our Easter family gathering was ruined by attempting to celebrate our holiday meal here. After two hours, and seeing all tables around us be seated, served, and leave, we were forced to finally leave the establishment as meager attempts.were made to rectify the multiple failures at service.
We went for the Easter meal. Instead of having a brunch due to the pandemic, the Grill had a special menu. Food was great, and view spectacular in light of the weather. Service was ok. Due to the added burden of waiting on tables attention to patrons wasn't as good as it could have been.
What a great experience! Now it was not the restaurant itself - because of the snow on Valentines weekend that shut them down they did a Valentines Re-Duex the next weekend that we lucked into.
5 course pre-fix menu with wine pairings. We showed up at 6:00 and turns out it is in one of their ballrooms so table can be spread out. We were first in so got our choice - right up at the corner windows to see Seattle, Bellevue, both bridges and the sun set.
Dinner was awesome, wine pairings we great and super accommodating and attentive staff.
It was such an awesome experience. Totally loved it!
This is our 'go to' place that has it all: great view, food, service and never feel rushed so always a very enjoyable experience.
It's an old-school fine dine. Don't have high expectations. Though the dessert was fantastic. Or maybe the only part that I personally liked.
Excellent choice for food and service. View is outstanding, great getaway from city and tables are spaced such that there is no concern about Covid transmission.
Has a beautiful views and we had a wonderful sunset!
52nd wedding anniversary and the patio dining and view at Newcastle has become our favorite anniversary place over the years. We were a little worried with this Covid thing but we chanced going out to dinner for first time since Feb to celebrate. Big Kudos to Newcastle mask wearing and table distancing...and for awesome friendly service...and good food!!!!
Beautiful view. Food and drinks GREAT. Service awesome.
Such a beautiful location. Wish the cuisine was decent.
A glorious setting, breath taking view, wait staff friendly and accommodating, spotlessly clean, lovely place to celebrate a birthday lunch! I will be back soon.
I had my daughter and son-in-law from out of town to dinner and it was excellent.
The Miso salmon with noodles was very tasty and crunchy with the vegetables. We were the only ones inside so felt very safe. Lily our server was pleasant and attentive. The sun was in my eyes for some of the time. Pleasant, quiet atmosphere most of the time. A very enjoyable evening and raspberry sorbet was a hit with everyone. The panna cotta not so much.
the meal was average, service was average, the view was pheominal
We had visitors in town and we wanted to share the experience of dining at Calcutta Grill. Beautiful views, excellent service and tasty food and drinks. It was a wonderful and memorable evening.
The staff was super friendly!
First mother/daughter dining out since February, 2020 pre-COVID. Special in every way!
Amazing view! Unfortunately not possible to make outdoor table reservation, even when you ask for it at the time of booking. We came and had to wait for over an hour.
This is always our go to place for special occasions. Food was good, just too bad we were in the back of the house but that was because they had to space tables out due to covid-19.
Wine Wednesday’s (1/2 off select bottles of wine).
Our waiter was fantastic. Attentive, polite and personable he made the evening that much better. The food was good but the menu was limited and we headed there for signature dishes that were missing. Otherwise it was a beautiful night and I highly recommend The Calcutta Grill.
Great service and food
Calcutta was a perfect quiet venue for a party of three. The food was excellent and very hot and fresh from the kitchen. The risotto was creamy and delicious and the smoked chicken was moist and accompanied by perfectly done vegetables.
I highly recommend Calcutta. A beautiful setting!
Amazing service from Donté. Amazing attention to detail. We were able to watch a snow/sleet/hail/thunderstorm with just lightning and a spectacular view.
I have been to this grill many, many times over the years. It is not as good as it used to be. The portion sizes are much smaller and the prices are much higher. I ordered fish and chips and got to palm sized pieces of fish, some fries and a little silver cup, you know, the ones that condiments go into? Yea that one. A silver condiment cup of slaw. Definitely not worth the price of $20.00. Waiter, Donte, seemed as though he could not care less about us. He only rarely looked at us when he came to the table, he kept staring off somewhere. One good thing, the view is awesome.
Food has deteriorated since a year. Expensive but quality of food not good. They don't carry good cocktails even something from their own menu. Extremely disappointed. It felt like giving away money for free for bad food.
Great meal and great service - thank you! We had a wonderful experience.
We're so happy to hear that and we hope you'll dine with us again soon!
I did not get the window seat as I requested, but did get a table next to the window seating area. There were two open tables by the window, but I guess they decided to reserve those tables for 4 instead of 2 people. Overall, it was a good night out with my wife. She enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The dessert was a tad bit bland, but the service was great.
They got a new chef and updated their menu about a year ago +/-. The food I have during that time seems very good - maybe even an improvement. Always consistent great food and service.
Thank you for the recommendation, worldtraveler7! We're glad to hear you enjoy our newest offerings.
Delightful Valentines Day dinner. Excellent food and service. Noise level was OK despite this being a very busy dinner evening. The views are much better in the summer but we still were able to enjoy some view in February.
Thank you for spending Valentine's Day with us, Joe! We're glad you enjoyed your night.
After church favorite:)
The salad and the veggie burger were amazing. Brussel sprouts were not the best too much balsamic and not spread evenly.
Lunch with an unmatched view. The food and service were excellent.
We had a wonderful server but man the food is marginal at best. The worst german choc cake...dry and yucky.
I cannot say enough positive things about the really outstanding waiter that we had for this New Years Eve dinner. Dante was such a pleasure to get to work with and he made our experience at The Calcutta Grill as wonderful as the venue and meal!
We will be sure to share your kind comments with Dante. Thank you for dining with us, Terri!
The kitchen staff were extremely loud and negatively impacted our dining experience. The food portions were small and when we requested a side of extra hollendaise sauce we could hear the kitchen person complaining about it.
I brought two young granddaughters as a special treat. Our waiter Dante was terrific with them and helped us get through the meal without any accidents.
We’ve been here a number of times, and it’s always good. Service can’t be hit and miss, but the view is spectacular. It was Christmas Eve, so we were a bit disappointed they weren’t offering their brunch menu. Maybe an idea for next year.
Great place but would like to see more food selections such as nachos, burger options and pasta too. Otherwise good place.
