Calandra's Mediterranean Grill Ratings and Reviews
I took my wife to M.G. for Valentines's Day celebration. The food was outstanding: Calamari was tender and juicy and the Surf & Turf -- lobster and steak -- was also great. I brought my own wine and the $12 corking fee was reasonable. To complement the evening service was excellent and the music provided by a pianist was enjoyable. Highly recommended.
This is our favorite Northern NJ Italian restaurant. Been here several times before and we will be back often. Food is always excellent. They also change up a "Specials" list every day. Service is there when you want and not bothering you if you don't want. Food, both from the regular menu and the specials menu is alway terrific. Enjoy! Enjoy!! ENJOY!!!!
We sat in the more formal dining area as this was a family dinner. The bar area was too noisy and cold. Very happy with Miguel, our waiter. Manager assisted in getting us seated in the back. Much appreciated. Food was great and unfortunately, upon exiting, there was no more bread left as a “favor”.
Been going to the Mediterranean Grill for years now. Food is very good but very pricey. Wanted to have a soup... soup of the day was cream of cauliflower, sounds delicious but didn’t order because it was $10 for a bowl!?
Really it’s only cauliflower. Some things are priced right and other prices for some plates do not make a sense. Otherwise very nice dinner.
It was my son's birthday and he wanted Italian, so we chose Calandra's Mediterranean Grill. The food is consistently good here. The pasta is homemade and oh so good, as is everything else I've ever eaten here. The servers are polite, helpful and very attentive.
Restaurant was busy that night. There was also a private party. Service was a little slow. Our waiter was distracted as he was upset with another table. Although he was friendly, it did resignate to our service. Overall, dinner was delicious.
Been here few times for lunch. We will be back again.
I was there on a weekday evening. The restaurant was quite empty so the noise level wasn't a factor and there were no issues with service. The food was quite tasty but I thought the minestrone soup had too many potatoes and the pasta dish, which had a garlic and oil sauce, was too heavy with the oil. Overall I thought it was good and would return.
I went here because they are so good to kids. My 9 year old daughter loves their olive plate, as do I. The big chocolate chip cookie they have her at no cost, was and always is a winner for her. Service was highly attentive, the manager is positively charming and top notch professional, and the food is good enough to engage in without being in a serious foodie mode.
This is our (my wife and I) favorite Italian Restaurant within a 20 mile radius of where we live. The food is always great, especially the pasta dishes, although my wife raved about the veal scallopini this visit. Sometimes around this time of year, they serve pumpkin ravioli which is to-die-for, although not on the menu this time. We'll be back.
food was excellent . server needed to be trained better. ordered champagne he did not no how to open .we had to tell him. He than poured my glass first and not my wife's. He than just left the bottle on the table. we had to get the bus boy to put it in a champagne bucket filled with ice. He also served me a bottle of beer with no glass. this is not a go go bar its an upscaled restaurant. Bring a GLASS !!!! the best was before our food even came the bus boy grabbed the salt and pepper off the table and took it away because they were cleaning up to go home. it was 8pm on a Saturday night . poor service will put them out of business for sure. will give it another try hope the service improves
We had 8 guests for our daughters Birthday Our server Elias set up a beautiful table for us dinner was amazing from appetizers to dessert. The manager Tom and our server Elias made sure our Birthday celebration was a success our family couldn't have been happier with the experience of dining at The Mediterranean Grill. We never had to ask for water or bread there was always a filled bread basket and new bottle of water on the table. The Chef even made a tasty vegan Spaghetti dish for us. We will return again!
The food and service is very good. A section of the restaurant is in the hotel lobby. This does not really affect the atmosphere. The only slightly negative comment is that although the piano player is very good, we found it to be a little too loud. Dinner conversation was just a little difficult.
Special birthday dinner. Disaster. As soon as we sat down, a diner at neighboring table got very ill. People gathered, EMTs arrived, consultations ensued. Feeling very badly for the person who was ill but restaurant never asked did we want to move. "Hot" apps were delivered. Cold. Took 15 minutes to get hot apps. Dinner arrived. Bland. No water refills. No bread refills. No birthday cake slice, previously requested. Disappointing.
Definitely worth the 45-minute drive! Maybe because it was our wedding anniversary, but we unexpectedly got balcony-seating that provided a view of the whole expanse of the restaurant. Service was prompt, waiter was very courteous, and tended to all our needs. Entertainment was very good too, singer sounded almost like Frank Sinatra. :-) But most importantly, food choices were excellent, and prepared completely fresh!
