Roberto and Chef Edward featured a new entree as special and it was fantastic! Branzino baked in parchment paper with mussels, clams and vegetables was delicious! I hope it will be an addition to the menu.
For the second time no now was there and the place was empty. Is it closed down?
I don't know what to say. I had a reservation for a special evening and drove all the way there to find them closed. It was very embarrassing to say the least. They are part connected to the Best Western hotel and the clerk advised me this happens all the time. They need to get their act together If closed they should say closed.
Will never go there ,food was not good crab cake had no crab expensive meal for what you got serve.
Roberto and his staff were excellent as usual!!
Cala di Mare is in dire need of a competent chef. Here is a very attractive venue with a welcoming staff, providing fair service with a great Jazz duo adding to the ambience only
to be dis-illusioned by the food itself.Tasteless,is the only word that comes to mind.We chose
Cala di Mare because we were fans of the Musicians, but we will never dine there again.
Superb food and service.
Food was flat tasting. Small portions. Would not go back
Cala di Mare
Excellent food, my wife enjoy salmon and
grilled shrimp special. My choice was roasted duck
and was absolutely delicious.
Definitely coming back!!!
I selected this restaurant according to the name because my wife likes sea food...
however, as a steak lover, my Rib eye steak was superb.
great atmosphere, friendly owner and free parking in the heart of the town, made our outing a very pleasant experience.
well done Roberto.
My experience was excellent and I will definitely be back. me and my girlfriend LOVED EVERYTHING.
The Mussels Adriatic appetizer was outstanding, recommended to all when it is offered. The Pork Tenderloin over Wild Rice entree special was unbelievably tender and delicious. Chef Edwards in the kitchen continues to amaze and please with his creations.
There was a limited menu when we ate at Cala di Mare on Valentine's Day. Normally that would mean the restaurant would be serving its best food and providing the best service. However, based on our experience that evening, we wouldn't go back to try the rest of the menu. Three course meal for $35 seemed like a good deal but it wasn't worth the money. Appetizers: single crabcake was small and had too much filler. Caesar salad OK but nothing special. Mozzarella and tomato, small portion, just OK. Mains: Ravioli fair, salmon below average, and the chicken was breaded which should not occur at any decent Italian restaurant. For perhaps the third time in 35 years of dining with my wife, she had to put ketchup on the steak. Dessert: average, but it's likely the chocolate cake and cheesecake were store-bought. Best part of the meal: the potato chips at the bar, which we grabbed whenever we walked by. Sorry, but there are much better options in Rockville Centre and surrounding towns.
Pleasant and enjoyable
The Veal Millanaise was outstanding as usual. If you love a great veal dish, it is a must try.
We had a great CHRISTMAS Eve dinner. We tried to get reservations in a few other spots, but wanted Italian with some fish. The service was impeccable. The food was good. The wine list was okay. They are very accommodating and extremely helpful. We had a 3year old with us and the busser (Alberto) was extremely nice and friendly. He was like a big brother to the baby. We would go back just for the service. It made our night. Thank You.
When it is offered as a special you must try the Grilled Shellfish Appetizer. Delicious!! The Monkfish Marechiara was great as usual!
The Veal Milanese was superb!! Frank O'Brian played many enjoyable holiday tunes.
The food was excellent! The staff was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. The home baked bread was phenomenal.
In spite of the 4-5 star rating on Open Table reviews, this is a restaurant that, at the time of our visit, was patronized by an older crowd. My table of 4 ranged in age from 52-60 and we were the youngest in the room by nearly 10 years! There was also live music provided by a pianist who took "requests" as long it was something he liked. and a lounge-grade singer. For my dining group, we tend to get into lively discussions and it appeared there were older patrons who did not find this amusing.
Aside from this, the food was excellent and the staff was very good as well.
If you're looking for a place to take your Grandparents, they will not be disappointe.
The lentil soup and veal Milanese were unbelievably delicious!
The Veal Milanese was spectacular. A must try for veal lovers.
The Veal Millanese was a spectacular culinary experience. Also, the PEI mussels in white sauce were great, as usual.
Just went back to this terrific restaurant to share it our neighbors..... And it was even better with friends! They loved Cala... We were treated so well...and the food was absolutely first rate. This is simply a great restaurant that is looks elegant but is comfortable, quiet, well- run, reasonably priced...and serves delicious food. Nicest serving staff in RVC. You'll enjoy your stay.
The spinach salad and Monkfish Mareciare were fantastic tonight!
The Zuppa Di Pesce and grilled Veal Chop were excellent special offerings tonight.
The seafood combo appetizer was fantastic! Frank O'Brian's piano playing was great for listening and dancing.
We were pleasantly surprised at the high quality food,
Zuppa di Pesci with lobster, Red sauce over linguine was excellent,
we definitely coming back.
This restaurant unfortunately is attached to a Best Western which probably turns a lot if people off. It shouldn't be an issue. Very pretty inside and food was excellent. The owner plans great things for the Fall, Sunday brunch and outdoor dining to name just 2. Please try it.
It was wonderful to discover a quiet spot with delicious well-prepared dishes and personal service. I would definitely return to escape the crowds and noise level of most other restaurants on a Friday night.
So disappointed. Had a 6:30 res for 7/6/14. Got to the restaurant and they weren't even open. I went out of my way with a party of 5 and had to search for a place to eat. I should have got a notification that I would not be able to done there that evening
The surprise was that it was in a Best Western. Food on a par with very upscale restaurants.
I was coming from the west coast and booked this for a rehearsal dinner. I booked it based on other reviews. The food, service, and atmosphere was perfect! The owner provided superior service and was very accommodating. He helped make a special occasion perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant.
It will be on my list on my next east coast visit.
The regular menu is deliciously outstanding and the specials offer a unique and flavorful dining experience. Try the straciatella soup. The service is the best in RVC!
Everything was perfect.
Dishes prepared and present
very well. Veal Romano was outstanding,
we are definitely coming back.
This restaurant is strictly for the hotel guests who either don't know of the fine restaruants in the surrounding neighborhood or just want to grab a quick bite before turning in. A very limited menu.
Wonderful food and very special service.
Loved the entire experience completely
Ribeye steak was Excellent
We really enjoyed eating here.
The food was excellent and service
was great. The staff was very friendly
and aimed to please. We had such a
good time that we booked a family
party there for November.
This was our second time
in Cala di Mare, food it's delicious
we definitely coming back.
The place was empty at 8 pm on Sat night.
Literally. We were the only couple in the place.
Food was well presented, but mediocre
