Caffe' Torino Foothills
Music (new group) - excellent
Beautiful night to sit outside, and the restaurant had a jazz band outside. They managed the balance of volume that lets you enjoy the music and be able to have conversations. Food was delicious as well. 3 of us opted for specials: two scallops, one Mexican sea bass. Delicious. The other (an Italian) enjoyed lasagne.
Our meal was very tasty but our waiter was deplorable. He wanted to know everyone's name at the table and then kept talking and interfering in our conversation. He became very testy when we asked about our meal which had not come out over 30 minutes after we ordered. When it did come out it was put on the table and he and his assistant walked away without asking if we needed anything else like Pepper. When I requested it his assistant asked do you want a foot massage also? I thought that was pretty rude. It definitely ruined at the dinner experience and I doubt I would ever go back.
Always a great experience. Lovely staff, nice selection of wine and beer. And of course outstanding food!
Good neighborhood Italian. Food is generally OK to very good. Service was very slow this time. Kitchen seems to not be able to provide orders timely. Wait staff tries to please.
If good service is important to you, you will be frustrated.
Fabulous food, excellent service
The food & service were wonderful! And the entertainment was outstanding. I'm very fond of Sheryl Ann & that's why I came. It is a good place to meet a friend & I cannot say enough compliments about the food! The only negative for gigs outside is lack of stage lighting. You need a spotlight or general lights on the entertainment. Thank you for a wonderful evening & I hope to see you again soon.
Our favorite italian food!
A few minutes before our entrees were served the waiter announced that the kitchen had no gnocchi.
A substitute was recommended and accepted. When it was delivered it was not identical to that served to a second diner who had ordered the same dish (tagliatelle with sauce bolognese). One had almost no meat in the sauce. The waiter then delivered a side dish of a very meaty sauce. I had the risotto. I ordered it because the last time I had it here it was perfect. This time it was pasty and very mediocre. Like too many Tucson restaurants consistency is not its strong point.
We wanted to be seated on the patio but the Better Business Bureau was having an event. So who do you complain to when you have an issue with The BBB?
Café Torino is generally very good, best caesar salad in town, overall the food was good, but not quite up to normal standards. Our service was excellent and while we had a booth, the band was way to loud. I would not go back if they were to keep that level of volume from a band / singing group. Its to loud for a small place. Last time we were there the band/ singing group was much quieter and complemented our experience, this time not.
We had a terrific dinner at Caffe’ Torino Foothills. The entire experience was 5 star. Jerry did a fantastic job of recommending wines, entrees and generally making the experience top notch. The food was outstanding as well! We were referred to the Caffe’ Torino as the place the locals go. I see why!
Always Excellent....how fortunate to have a fine dining restaurant so near!
We were drenched getting to Caffe' Torino and when inside found that we were the only patrons.
But then the best part came as we enjoyed an absolutely fantastic dinner at the hands of the staff, cook and owner. We consumed it in its entirety!!!!!!!!!!!!
It has been too long since we have been able to make that statement in Tucson.
Always delicious chicken piccata. Veggies cooked so well
It was our first time eating at Caffe Torino. The atmosphere and food were both very good! Would definitely go back again!
Delicious food and great service! Comfortable seating.
A combo was playing on Saturday night when we went. They were inside making it very difficult to carry on conversation with other couple. Your room is too small to have live entertainment inside. Suggest that be kept outside in the future.
Great authentic Italian food and wonderful live jazz. Highly recommended!
One of my favorite restaurants in Tucson. Reliable in every way, always a pleasant experience.
Was in Tuscon for a work trip and in the mood for Italian. Since I hadn't eaten in over 12 hours, I decided to check this place out since it was close to where my meeting was and had good reviews. They didn't disappoint. The staff was very welcoming and Derek, the bartender/manager, was great. He answered all my questions, gave great recommendations and "read" me like a pro. He paid attention that I was having a working dinner with myself - he timed my food perfectly, wasn't overly intrusive but also wasn't absent. Derek really listened to what I was looking for and recommended great dishes and perfect complimentary wine without trying to upsell me. The food was great and the ambience very comfortable. Will def go back if I'm in Tuscon again!
Lovely food and music!
Excellent food and service. Also enjoyed the jazz trio.
A great, fun place to eat!
Delicious Italian chicken with lemon... Garlic level is great
Best Upscale Italian in Tucson!!
Unfortunately, we did not have a good dining experience. It was a very busy Saturday night and the
restaurant seemed understaffed or otherwise unable to handle the volume. When a restaurant knows
it does not have enough staff on a given day, it does have the option to limit reservations, but greed
gets in the way of good customer service. Knowing they were way behind in filling orders, they should
have let diners know that so people could make the choice to wait or not. We were seated immediately,
but, as it turned out, waited 65 minutes for our order without any attempt by staff to explain or palliate
the situation. We saw that other diners were also waiting, some making inquiries, others not. Good
customer service requires that ALL should have been attended to in one way or another. I had ordered
a glass a of wine and, since I really can't handle more than one glass, and like to have it with my meal,
I tried to tell the server to bring it with my food, but he rushed off to get our drink order. This meant
that my white wine, which I like cold, was quite warm by the time my food came. Also, the noise level
made adequate communication between servers and diners almost impossible.
Food was lovely & the service great. What a wonderful dinner.
Nice! Fish was delicious.
The band was outstanding! Turned a great meal into a wonder evening.
Great food. Great service. It a hidden neighborhood gem for sure!
The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The ambience was cosy and relaxing.
Very good neighborhood Italian restaurant. Ordered caezar salad, chicken piccata with pasta, seafood risotto, and tiramisu, all of which were very good. Salmon entree was just OK. Service was fine. Full bar and nice wines by the glass.
It was too hot that evening, but there is a nice outdoor patio.
Food was excellent. Had two of the specials for the night. Service attentive and all in all great evening.
Usually we would recommend Caffe Torino Foothills to friends and relatives, however until they improve the long wait time for the food to come out, we will not be visiting any time soon.
Food was excellent! Everyone enjoyed their meal. We were not I a hurry and not rushed. Would definitely go back again.
We have been to Caffe Torino many times. We went tonight to celebrate an anniversary. When we arrived we were seated and about 5 minutes later our waiter came to the table to greet us. We ordered drinks and then the wait began. 20 minutes later drinks arrived. We ordered and within a few minutes salads arrived.
Strike one: no cracked pepper was offered for the Caesar salad---not a big one, but an oversight nonetheless.
After salads were done, we then started wait number two. It was approximately 30 minutes before entrees arrived.
Strike two: I had to ask for parmesan cheese for the pasta; it wasn't offered
We finished dinner and waited for our plates to be cleared---wait three. Finally, the hostess cleared our plates. The waiter was MIA.
Finally, the waiter came to the table and said "I have your check". WAIT----what about seeing if we wanted coffee or dessert? I inquired about dessert and he told us the selections, but we were so put off by the feeling that he was trying to shove us out the door that we decided to pass.
Other points: Empty water glasses were never refilled
On a positive, the food was very good---as usual.
This is not a cheap restaurant. You pay good prices for good food and you expect service to be commensurate. Unfortunately, Caffe Torino did not deliver on the service front tonight. Far from it.
Food was good. Gnocchi much different than traditional however, tasted good and will have again. Waiter was ok, not very personable like others that work there.
We decided to go back to Caffe Torino after a few months hoping the service had improved. No luck! we waited for 20 minutes to get our server, we ordered a bottle of wine and appetizers, it was another 20 minutes before anything was served, knowing it was taking a lot of time, we ordered our food right after we got our wine.
We had to wait another 45 minutes and were thinking of leaving and told our server that, food appeared after 5 minutes.
Not going back there for awhile ! painful experience
Chris was our waiter and he was very attentive, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The food was fantastic as usual!
