Caffe Portofino Ratings and Reviews
As always, the food does not disappoint. However on this occasion, even though the restaurant was only half full, it took over an hour to get our main course. Another larger table that had been seated after us got their food before us, and we didn't order any specials. Too slow! I don't know if the problem was in the kitchen or with the wait staff.
I don't want to leave a positive review because this place was so good, I am afraid too many people will want to go, which will make it more difficult for my wife and I to find a table the next time we want to go. But I have to be fair to them. This place was outstanding! The lasagna I had was probably the best lasagna I've ever had. The portions were perfect too. I can't say anything negative about it. We loved it!
Caffe Portofino is the kind of restaurant you go to knowing you will have a guaranteed great meal every time. It is imaginative Italian cuisine with very fresh ingredients.
The service is always friendly and impeccable. Although the restaurant is in a shopping center once you walk in the door you completey forget that. Very charming ambiance. Every night they have several very interesting specials. I highly recommend it.
Food was excellent, as was everything else: with, for me, one exception. Noise level is not simply "energetic." The place on a Friday night was just plain loud. I don't want dinner in a tomb, but in this case, conversation was difficult. There must be a way to cut back on sound level: ceiling tile, maybe?
The (2) Chicken Marsalas were excellent and the Veal Chop off the specials board was cooked medium rare to perfection. Best chop I ever ate. Medium rare on the inside with an exterior crispness. Perfect.
With tax, tip and a bottle of wine the bill came to $175. A good value too.
