Caffe Niche Ratings and Reviews
Great experience this time - we’ve been to Cafe Niche a few times and the food has always been great, but this time, the waiter, Steve, really added to the experience. He had the bar make me a drink that wasn’t on the menu, since the drink I initially tried I didn’t like. He was really good-natured and pleasant. - the food was excellent - we will definitely be back.!
This is one of my favorite (actually maybe my very favorite) neighborhood restaurants. We have never been disappointed by the food or the service. Everything is different from what you normally see on other menus. The preparation is pure art. The portions have gotten bigger, too, I think. At our last meal we shared the shrimp and grits, which was fantastic and highly recommended as a starter. My wife had the glazed salmon with sweet potato mash and bok choy -- wonderful dish. I had the Morgan Valley lamb, which came on top of spinach and with baked potato wedges -- very satisfying and delicious. We topped that off with a tasty dessert. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive, and also extremely pleasant. This will always be my go-to place.
Super disappointing. Staff needs training. I am not surprised they do because the manager does as well. Menus brought to table dirty and tattered; only got excuses when pointed out; I was argued with. I may give Niche another chance. Next time, do not bring it to me dirty please.
We have always liked Niche as a good neighborhood restaurant, but our meal the other night was really above and beyond. Excellent menu choices all around (my steak medallions in marsala sauce were cooked perfectly as I liked them - rare) and very good value for the excellent quality - you would pay much more in similar restaurants in the downtown SLC area for food similar to Niche.
We enjoyed our meal. I had a salad and the salmon. Both were delicious. Good portions, not too little or too much, and the sweet potatoes were amazing. My husband had meatballs and the wedge salad. They were very flavorful and filling. The wedge had shrimp and was entree size.
Caffe Niche has an excellent, limited menu. You can expect your dish to be perfectly prepared with nuanced combinations of flavors and textures. I have been here over 20 times and have always been very happy and feel the food is a good value for the quality. I guarantee you will always be pleased with the chicken, lamb, beef or fish preparations. They are always cooked perfectly, never over or under done. This is a skill I have yet to master, hence, I eat here and let Chef Andy do it for me!
The menu is limited and the ingredients are always fresh. I have never been disappointed at Niche, and the prices are very reasonable. One tip is to always leave room for dessert, because it is "to die for!". Andy is an amazing chef, and I love seeing her in the open kitchen, she really knows what she's doing. The entrees are thoughtfully put together with unexpected flavors that work well together. The fish, beef or chicken is ALWAYS cooked to perfected, never over or under done....perfect, perfect, every time!
Great service! Cafe niche is my favorite brunch spot. The food is delicious and there are a lot of healthy options, and plenty of comfort food too! They have a really nice tea selection and some of the best staff in the area. Would definitely recommend for a date, it's quiet, cozy, and the patio is beautiful in the spring.
Disgusted. We ordered dessert to take out. We waited well over half an hour for the waitress to bring it to the table. Inexplicably the take out boxes were covered in greasy marks and finger prints--as though they had been taken from the garbage. I inquired why. The response from the wait person was the chef wanted to close the boxes. What? I was so embarrassed. I was trying to impress my guests and one of them ended up wiping the box with a napkin. The wait person brought 1 fresh box (we had ordered 3 different desserts and all were in comparable condition.) It was so unappetizing. What on earth was that? What happened? We had already waited so painfully long that we just paid and left and ended up throwing away the dessert because it seemed so fishy and as though they had been dropped or as I said pulled from the garbage. I will never return. The wait person surely could have seen they were in bad condition and changed the boxes before bringing them to our table. What on earth would possess a restaurant to present something in that fashion and make us wait that long? I can only imagine the worst. Ugh.
My family and I went to Niche for the Mother's day brunch and the food was VERY disappointing. The choices for the buffet were very limited and nothing much at all for such an occasion and for the price of the buffet.
We had lunches at Niche in the past with much better results but Mother's Day Brunch was not to their usual standard.
I chose this place based on the everyday menu, I was excited to try their vegetarian options. When I received a call to confirm my reservation I found out it was $30 per person for Mother's Day. When we arrived they tried to sit five of us at a 4 top in the corner, my dad is 6'4 and this wasn't going to work. We asked for seating elsewhere and the hostess put her hand up as if to quiet us and was really short with us. She was not happy about having to move us and made some snide comments towards my mom.
Our waitress was wonderful, very knowledgeable and personable. She spilled drinks all over my husband but was prompt to correct it and paid for his meal. It wasn't even a big deal but she felt terrible. She really was a great and friendly server.
The buffet was $30 per person and had eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, French toast, yogurt, granola, and a couple salad options. Not the best selection but the food was good.
Dined early evening before too crowded. Exceptional service from a most congenial member of the wait staff...very helpful with menu recommendations and wine selection. Have yet to experience a bad meal whether brunch, lunch or dinner. Great place for off-hour dining. Neighborhood location can make parking availability a challenge at times.
This was our first trip to Caffe Niche but it definitely won't be our last. We made a reservation and were seated promptly when we arrived. Our waiter gave us the special and some helpful info on the menu that was clearly not off of a cue card. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and casual but not too casual.
The meal was extraordinary. The dessert was extraordinary. The espresso was extraordinary.
The only complaint was the menu made it hard to decide just because it all sounded so good. We will definitely be back to try the rest!
We dropped by for a wine and light food on a Sat. night around 9. The place was fairly empty. It took awhile to get any service. Wine list never left with menus and had to request one. Waiter seemed bothered by this.
I used to love this place but I won't be returning.
