Amazing dinner and amazing service
Run by a really nice couple, the food and service were outstanding. All the dishes were authentic Italian food simply presented. It was my first time (even though the restaurant has been there 30+ years), but it won't be my last.
Our favorite place in SF! Be sure to try the fresh gnocchi. The owners make you feel like family

Wonderful experience from the hosts that make you feel like you are at home, to the tiramisu that is not to be missed. In between, the meatballs are amazing, the caesar was the best I've had in the City, and the pappardelle was the perfect al dente'! We will be returning for years to come.
We visit Caffe Mac as often as we can with our family. Feels like a place you’d find in NY, feels like home!

This place had great reviews so our expectations were high. This is clearly a neighborhood spot where a lot of the locals go, and the servers seem to know them. We shared a Caprese salad, which was delicious. We each ordered a special, him, the boar spaghetti and the fish linguini for me. Both of our orders were very bland and unexceptional. The spaghetti had very little meat in it and the sauce was thin. A boar pasta calls for a heavier sauce. My fish was okay, although the one bite of mussel I took, I spit out immediately. I asked the server for some cheese and he told me I could not have cheese because I was having fish, which I thought was odd.
On another note, this is not in North Beach, which is where I was hoping to go, and where I searched when we made the reservation.

An absolute favorite! Not only is the food great, but Mario and Stephanie make you feel like you are part of their family.
Food is the focus. The fresh anchovies as an appetizer and the wild boar and shrimp/sea bass pastas were excellent. The wine list is short and wines tend to be older vintages, and (as my wife is a wine cougar - likes her wines young) we requested and got a recent 2019 barbera which was very good. I personally would like to know how well some of these older vintages are. The ambiance of street dining is somewhat lacking and might actually be charming on a warm day. The 3 of 4 dessert wines we ordered were not exactly as advertised, but we were accommodated and the characters and personalities of the waiter and owner compensated for this. We've eaten here 4 or 5 times over the last several years and have always been pleased.

My wife and I come here almost every anniversary. It was tough missing out on it last year. It felt like going back home when we were able to return this year.
Had a few appetizers which my wife and I liked, my wife had one of the dinner specials (rock cod over spaghetti) thought the fish portion could have been bigger but flavors were good, I had the pork tenderloin, it was okay, Limoncello cake was fantastic! Waiter gave us a shot each of Limoncello, classy. Next time I go, I will have a pasta dish.
Remarkable, beautiful staff/owners...friends they are and the food/wine was so far above average you could not possibly have enough stars to rate them....
Fabulous off the beaten track experience in North Beach. No tourists. No crowds. Willing to modify to meet my paleo, low carb preference. Extra wild mushrooms with greens and salmon..no problem. Restaurant owned by lovely couple who made us feel like family. I asked what the other outdoor table ordered because it looked good and the man said, oh you want to try? I bring you some! Same with wine..you like red wine? I bring some for you to try? He bring two full glasses at no cost. Everything was delicious. Service was excellent - beyond friendly, almost familial. We sat outdoors next to a large heater. Dog friendly.
