VERY small restaurant with only a handful of tables. Great services. Specials are.
Seating is really close and service was on the slow side. Food was okay though.
We had a great time. It appears you get a lot of repeat business and that is a very good sign. Food was very good, the ambiance even better. Very friendly, too. Thanks
We love this little place - great food and wonderful owners that make every meal special!
This is our favorite place for just a get together or a special occasion. We love everything about this restaurant from the food and wine to the owners.
A great place, every time I get to San Francisco I make it a point of stopping by. Great food, a bit small so make reservations. But well worth it.
Classic North Beach. I've been going to this place for 25 years and it never disappoints.
An amazing cozy place for dinner, the food was delicious! The service is great and staff are extremely friendly :) Would highly recommend!!
Fun place - great food and love the owners!
Waited was grudging and bitter.
Food has gone Way downhill. Soup was good
We had a wonderful meal at Caffe Macaroni! Everything was delicious - from soup to salad to entree to dessert! Highly recommend!!
Overall great but we did not appreciate the waiter telling us we could not have parmesan cheese over our linguine with clams... I appreciate them being particular about the end result of their dishes but the customer is always right.
small place. rally good food. we would go back in a heartbeat.
Would definitely recommend Caffe Macaroni. I took my wife and it is definitely a quaint restaurant. It is a little small, but that makes for an intimate night. Service was great and food was perfect.
Ravioli was served cold. Sent it back and server returned it just slightly warm, still not hot. We were never asked if it was okay. Soup of the day was described, we ordered it, and it came as a completely different soup. Server just said sorry. Appetizers arrived at the same time as the main dishes. Very small portions for the price, especially the pesto pasta and salads. Their internet was down so we couldn't add the tip onto the credit card for some reason. When we gave all of this feedback to the Maitre D, he became defensive and blamed our entire experience on the fact that their computers weren't working. We have been to this restaurant several times with a great experience, but we will not be returning.
Good meal. Our waiter, Claudio, made us right at home. We discussed everything Italy: coffee, travel, and food! Enjoyed a bite on the second floor in front of the BIG picture window with shared seating!
Many time visitor. Have enjoyed every occasion that I have been there. Owners, Steff and Mario, are gems and wonderful people.
We love this place and have been going there for years. We are there every few months. A great little spot on the edge of North Beach.
Top-orchard as always.
We have been enjoying this restaurant for about 15 years. We have taken many friends to Caffe Macaroni
and no one has ever been disappointed. The food is always fresh and unique. We always ask for red wine recommendations and have never been unhappy. Desserts here are to die for!
A memorable authentic Italian experience. My son and I were visiting San Fran for a few days and settled on this little gem after reading dozens of reviews for authentic old school Italian and we were not disappointed! Caffe Maccaroni is a tiny little place with room for 11 inside and four small tables outside. We started with Caprese and the best part was the amazing olive oil, very fresh and simple. I had a halibut special over al dente pasta with a light but very flavorful tomato sauce, all cooked to perfection. My son had a cheese and spinach ravioli and loved it. We closed with lemon cake very delicate, light and delicious. The staff here were all very good, all Italian, highly recommend!
We never miss going to this little joint whenever we visit SF. Seriously the best.
Promptly seated. Food was ok. We ordered a bottle of wine which was never brought. Probably a good thing. Overall just ok.
Great little gem! Make sure to reserve, small restaurant with few tables.
They were very nice and attentive but the food was just average.
Wonderful dining experience. Food was great, atmosphere welcoming and personalized by owners Mario and Stephanie. Definitely do again.
Authentic Italian food that was Awesome!! The sauces were incredible! Totally Great meal :)
Great little spot in North Beach. Picked this place off Yelp and we were not disappointed. Great food, great service, and memorable evening. Best spighetti and meatballs I ever had.
Great food great service low ceilings!!
Mario and Stephanie always provide a great meal, in a very friendly environment
Consistently great authentic Italian. This place reminds me of being in a cozy restaurant in Italy - great food, great wine and a friendly, entertaining owner/chef/waiter. Perfect.
I dined alone, as I often do and like to try new places but I like to sit by a window or within comfort level of other diners. I was placed upstairs in a dark room with low ceiling painted red and I was the only diner other than a group of six people facing the window from a curved table. I almost left because of the environment but I had read good reviews of the food so I stayed.
The bathroom, however, was NOT clean!! If I had known this before ordering I would not have stayed.
I did enjoy the "fifties" music and the authentic Italian vibe. It was a tiny place with its own kind of charm and I might have been happier seated in the downstairs environment.
Caffe Macaroni is always good - but I often don't go unless I'm taking someone from out of town. Decided to go for a carb-load dinner before a race the next day, and it was just perfect. Amazing food, great ambiance, lovely service, and a very special dinner date, even though we were just looking for simple pasta.
Stellar Service!!! Food and experience is authentic and all homemade. I cannot say enough good things. The owners are awesome people and really made it a special experience for our vacation.
This is a special place where the owner makes the patrons feel like family. I was shocked that we could get in as quickly as we did in a Friday night. The cheesecake was the best you will ever imagine and each dish we had was incredible. Super small place but you will feel like you belong there.
know the place since 20 years and its keeping its standards ans quality.
With Mario taken care of everything, there is not much more to add, besides coming back when being in town!
Mille Grazie Mario!
Tiny restaurant but very good food. We were waited on personally by the chef. But that doesn’t seem to be unusual in this little hideaway.
We had a fantastic time! We celebrated a friends birthday, and he was delighted with the food and service. The staff made us feel special. Thank you.
We were greeted outside the entry of the restaurant by Mario. If you blink you might miss it!
He sat us down at a quaint outdoor table for two. He immediately asked if we would like a glass of wine and promptly brought us his favorite - yum!
This restaurant might look like a tourist trap by all outward appearances, but believe me it is not. Authentic, fresh, & thoroughly delicious, the pastas & sauce were done to perfection.
The space is funky, tiny, warm, & fun. Casual is the vibe..
We thoroughly enjoyed the "local" guests sitting next to us (we are from San Jose) and also the feeling if eating over the hosts house instead of a restaurant.
Wonderful! We will be back!
We've been to Italy several times and the meal we ate at Caffe Macaroni was one of the most authentic Italian meals we've had this side of the pond. Pros: attentive service and excellent food. The fish/seafood risotto was phenomenal! The special fish of the night (halibut) with bread crumbs and pasta was delicious too. A disappointment, however, was the bread. By that I mean 2 things; 1) when asked if we wanted bread, we were not made aware that there would be an extra cost. When ordering in Italy its typical to be charged for bread, but not often in the US does this happen. They charged us $9 for 4 slices. 2) It was ordinary, soft crusted, mediocre bread, the type you can buy at any grocery store. Despite the issue with the bread, highly recommend for a great meal
