Caffe Gelato celebrates its 17-year anniversary. For lunch, look forward to trying our pressed panini on fresh baked sea-salt and rosemary foccacia, the featured salads, or a house crafted pasta. At dinner try the Herb Roasted Rack of Lamb, Pecan Crusted Salmon, Cider Roasted Pork Tenderloin, Pan Roasted Local Free-Range Chicken or any of our 6 House Crafted Pasta dishes. Weekend Brunches feature omelets, crepes, poached eggs, and Creme Brulee French Toast. Favorite gelato flavors are Bacio (Chocolate Hazelnut), Crème Brûlée Toffee, Dark Chocolate, and Stracciatella (Chocolate Chip).
Our appetizers were very tasty - we had the cheese tray and the bruschetta was to die for! My daughter's entrée, the seafood gnocchi was probably the best tasting thing I have had. My husband had the salmon which he enjoyed very much. I had the butternut squash ravioli and it was just "ok" as I did not like the sauce and the ravioli was a little hard. Would have sent back if the waiter had asked but didn't want to ruin the happy and festive mood we were all in during family weekend at Udel. The gelato was liked by everyone. Overall a good experience.
We love dining here! You can count on it always having excellent food, excellent service, and the most important factor...yummy dessert! It's worth the wait!
2nd time here . Love everything about it . Good fantastic and great wine .
We were outside for parent weekend. It was delicious! My only complaint would be that my butternut squash ravioli were supposed to have pignoli nuts and I did not see or taste any. Everything else was great! Very nice place. I would definitely go back!
Unfortunately last two times there have convinced me that the food quality has gone down hill and we will not be returning.
It was the first time I have been there for dinner on a while. Was disappointed to see that the wine glass was not clean. I initially thought it was a design until I touched it and realized it was dried on food. The food and cocktail (French Martini) were good but the service was a little spotty.
We love Cafe Gellato, it’s always excellent service, awesome drinks and fabulous food.
Our server was great! There were 5 of us dining to celebrate our friends birthday. Two of us were disappointed with our meal. I had the beef tips and tortellini. The beef was dry and tough. The same with the tortellini. I enjoyed the dessert. Salted caramel brownie sundae.
Very warm inside.
Circular booths are uncomfortable.
I have ate at this establishment over twenty times since 2012 and also used their catering service for two bridal showers. Our last trip was very disappointing due to the drastic down sizing of the two cocktails I had . The first one was small the second was smaller than the first. It appears the price per drinks didn’t go down with the sit. I don’t think I’ll be returning.
Food, as always, was fresh and delicious. We were a little disappointed that we made a reservation with a request for an outside table and we had to sit inside because they took walk-ups before reservations.
Went for dinner over the weekend. Sat at a table outside and ordered drinks. Had not yet received menus, but they came eventually.
Had the charcuterie board as an app. Nice selection.
Wife ordered a pasta dish and liked it very much. I had a salad with chicken and was not as impressed. Dressing was bland and chicken was dry.
We did not have any dessert.
It was a fine evening, and I would come back to sit on the patio.
I don’t know what was happening last Saturday night at Cafe Gelato. This is a restaurant I’ve been to before and although I don’t love the menu, all in the party would leave happy- not so on Saturday. The restaurant was NOT crowded and plenty of servers and staff were on hand, however we waited over 30 minutes for drinks from the bar- 2 of which were bottled beers. Our appetizers came before our drinks, a long time before our drinks. The server apologized for our wait- but that was ridiculous. We then waited another HOUR for our entrees, 2 of which were fillets that were way over cooked. Again- I don’t know what in the world was going on, I couldn’t figure out if the bartender was mad at our server or if the chefs were new or what else could be going on with this staple restaurant on Main Street. The experience was poor from top to bottom. The only reason my review is higher than straight 1’s is because I’ve had previous experiences that were better.
Visitied Caffe Gelato for first time this past weekend since our daughter is now at University of De. What a wonderful experience! Food was great, atmosphere lively. Martin, our server, took excellent care of us and even had the kitchen staff prepare my daughter’s dinner again when the desired leftovers were accidentally thrown away. We will certainly return!
Plenty of parking space. Prompt attention as soon as we walked in. Bernard our server was elegant and took our order and was there at just the right time. Everything was great. The Kennett mushroom pizza was very flavorful and my wife’s scallops were spot on. The gelatos were worth another trip soon as well.
We have never eaten inside before and it was lovely. The candles and dim light make for a romantic evening. Service was impeccable (I believe his name was David and he had an incredible baritone voice). Pork and mushroom risotto was to die for and the fillet was cooked to perfection and so tender. It is pricy, so we will reserve this for special occasions only and only with a birthday coupon.
Fantastic! Great service. Lobster Ravioli special was great!
Small place. Great good. Cute little tables. Really enjoyed the evening.
Very flexible when it comes to the menu. Everything is made to order, and pasta is house made
Mixed drinks were poor, but we were not charged. Half of the food was great, but the other half was average.
Excellent meal. Good value for money. They create a great ambiance. It always feels like a special treat.
Took some visitors from out of town for Sunday brunch. All of our meals were excellent and service was top notch.
Ate brunch outside on a beautiful day! Food & service were very good!
Beef Wellington as a special. $36. Ordered medium rare, came out well done. Waiter returned and we asked that the kitchen knew medium rare. Again came out well done and center was still frozen. You do not microwave steak. . Why have it as a special. 4th year we have been coming to this restaurant, worse meal ever. Has ownership changed?
Delicious seafood in generous portions and good service. Appreciated the Buy One/Get One entree from signature selections on Wednesday’s.
Had a surprise birthday dinner for a friend and it was perfect! Service was impeccable, food delicious, cocktails tasty, and half price pasta on Sunday was a treat we all appreciated! Special shout out for the lobster and shrimp gnocchi...it was the star of the night!
We had a fabulous time! The good and the service were excellent!
I had never been to cafe gelato but have always heard good things. When we walked in the ambiance was really pretty and great for a date night, the music choice was pretty odd. Very clubby sounding. We ordered drinks and they were very weak and tasted like flavored water. Our calamari appetizer was decent but nothing special. When our pasta dishes came out I can honestly say they were the worst, most bland pasta I have ever tasted. Boxed pasta and a jar of sauce from the grocery store at home would have been better. It was not what we expected for a nicer date night out and we will not be going back.
Graduation from police academy
Great night. Food was terrific and our server was really good.
Excellent food, and the Wed BOGO special made the evening very affordable. o
Our waitress was wonderful.
Tuesday lunch is half off all pasta offerings, which we did. Tasty and a really good value.
Amazing experience and friendly service
We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed our Brunch
Joined a friend for Sunday brunch. We had a lovely breakfast on the patio. Service was great and the food was light and very good. It was a Sunday morning in July so noise level and foot traffic were low. Overall great.
Service staff went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. But food preparation and presentation was disappointing. Italian dinners lose something when served in bowls (vs plates) - not mentioned on the menu when we ordered.
I got the special salad with boat scallops and there were only two scallops on the salad...very disappointing. When my meal was brought out, the waitress took my parmesan fries without even asking if I was finished, which I was not. After waiting for 20 minutes for our bill, we got up and walked in the restaurant to pay at the register by the gelato. They were very slow, so I saw now reason for it to take this long. The salad and and the fries did taste good.
good as always except they ran out of scallops, my favorite dish there ever :(
Enjoyed our meal and series’s great. Can’t wait to return!
The food was great and reasonably priced for the quality. Our service was horrible though. There was a large party in the back room and we were completely ignored the entire night. Our hour dinner turned into two hours due to the 20 mins we had to wait for our server to return in between each course. Will NOT be returning.
One of our favorite spots, generally. Top of the line food, usually very good service. Unfortunately on this day, our server Matthew although very pleasant, was below par for Gelato. My dad was served an obvious 1/2 a bread stick, while the rest of us received a full stick, three things were forgotten, my father's dinner portion was noticeably very small .
I had ordered the same dish he had lasted th and it was much bigger . Dinner took over an hour to be brought. Everyone is entitled to a bad day and it won't deter our visits. Unfortunate though.
