Caffe Gelatto is always great! Our drinks, appetizer, entrees, and dessert were delicious and delivered in a timely fashion by a personable waitress.
We went for my wife's 30th birthday party. The service and food were spectacular, as were the virgin cocktails. Highly recommend.
Delicious hand-crafted pasta. Prices are reasonable and they offer free entre on your birthday. Outstanding!!!
Service was somewhat slow
Took my daughter to brunch for her birthday on a Sunday. There were 2 baby showers going on in the front of the restaurant so we were seated in a back room. At a table for 6 for only 3 of us, not much ambience in the room, and no bloody mary bar because of the showers. Check before you go to lunch on the weekends. The front of the restaurant looks lovely but was so disappointed I don't think we will try it again.
Have really enjoyed this restaurant for many years. Very surprised by desserts. Cheesecake and breadpudding were both dry and tough. Maybe just old. We will stick with the gelato!
Caffe Gelato's is my go-to restaurant for business meals, lunch, brunch, and dinner!
My family and I went for Easter dinner and to spend time our daughter who attends University of Delaware. The service was excellent and so was the food. I also enjoyed the atmosphere and decor. Will dine there again soon.
In the words of my college freshman daughter who we were visiting for Easter, it was underwhelming. We had eaten there before and had a great meal, so thought it was an obvious choice for Easter Brunch. The service was ok, but the food was disappointing compared to our previous experience. The menu was very limited from the regular menu, so the selections we had before were not even offered. My daughter ordered their version of a Western Omelette, but after picking it apart was having trouble finding the prosciutto which was supposed to be the main ingredient. My husband ordered the vegetable hash in addition to his omelette. Being a vegetable lover he was very excited to try it, but the roasted vegetables were very undercooked. I had Eggs Benedict which were just ok, nothing special like I was expecting. Finally, all of our food came out lukewarm. The bottom line is that we won't be going there for a special occasion again. Their regular menu on a normal day was a much better experience.
I have an allergy to white wine and the waitress checked with kitchen every step of the order. Thank you the food was great and I was able to "make my own" salmon order. Great staff.
Brought family together from Central PA and DC for my husband's birthday. We had a wonderful dinner, and Jose, our waiter, was a joy. We had one family member in a wheelchair, and Jose helped make it easy and comfortable for everyone.
All reactions to the food were uniformly positive - my scallops were cooked absolutely perfectly.
And try wine #150... Fantastic red wine!
(But desserts were huge... Might want to share...)
We like Caffe Gelato because of the elegant food and atmosphere. We appreciate the birthday discounts. Their Cesar salad is my husband's very favorite. They always cook the scallops perfectly. The risotto is to die for.
And, of course, the best gelato around.
The young woman who waited on us was patient and accommodating. Kids meals out first. Coupon was redeemed. Meals out quick and every demand met. Very happy with the experience. Food tasted wonderful. My whole family had a good time. Thank you so much
Always enjoy my lunch and the wonderful gelato. The menu selections are unique
Great food and atmosphere for a romantic dinner or wine tastings. Temperature in the restaurant seemed to be a bit too warm at times but we adjusted. Service staff are top notch! We really enjoy this restaurant and will be back again.
The food was great, as usual, and Craig, our server, did a very good job. He was knowledgeable on the food options and quick-witted and the timing of the appetizers and entrées was just right. We will be back.
Our company went here for a business lunch and to celebrate an employee's birthday. The food was excellent and the prices at lunch time are a great value. I high recommend this place.
Our server was excellent. The menu is getting tired.
Had a bad experience last week at Caffe Gelato and Ryan, the owner, reached right out to me to apologize and make it right. Not because I’m anyone special, just because that’s what good customer service. Anyway we went back again last night and had a really good experience. From the wait staff to the food, excellent. We started with the cheese platter because it looked good and I knew I wouldn’t have room for it after the entree. It was excellent! Next I had one of the nightly specials, butternut squash ravioli with dried cranberries; again excellent. My only quibble was the size of the portion. It was too much, but that worked out as it is today’s lunch. My wife had the beef filet and, again excellent. Stuffed to the brim we managed to share a gelato for dessert. We went home stuffed and satisfied, our faith in Caffe Gelato restored.
We have had many meals at Caffe Gelato over the years and have always enjoyed it. This time, however, the service was a bit off. Seemed longer than usual for beverages, and far too long before the table was cleared. Our server was very nice, just not as attentive as what we have enjoyed in the past. The restaurant was a little crowded, which might explain it. We won't let one experience keep us away.
Our waiter was very polite and helpful. He was coming around and making sure we didn't need anything. More people like him and there would be night's out!
We had made reservations and still waited 25 minutes for the table to be ready because the hostess was also the one cleaning the tables and setting up. It took another 15 minutes for someone to come to our table and this was AFTER we had to flag a server down. Getting our drinks was a joke and then half the food came out okay and the others came out cold while one meal came out 10 minutes after the others! Oh, I probably forgot to mention the girl rushed away from the table before taking that order and when we went to tell her someone didn’t order she insanely rude. There was absolutely no organization and it’s unfortunate because this is typically a nice place to go.
Had a short wait, even though we had a reservation. Busy Saturday night, so rather noisy. However, got a corner table for 4, which reduced the noise somewhat. Everyone's food was good I had beef tenderloin tips tortellini. Salmon and ravioli others had was also good. Great selection of gelato flavors for dessert.
Crowded and loud on a Saturday night. The food was sooo average and pricey. You definitely do NOT get what you pay for. There are many, MUCH better restaurants on Main Street. The service was great. Otherwise, I would give Cafe Gelato a 2 Star.
Caffe Gelato has always been a favorite of mine and never disappoints. I took a friend there for her birthday and she loved it. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared, and the wine was awesome. The menu changes seasonally and there are always new creative choices to keep it interesting. Our waiter, Jose', was wonderful. Very congenial, professional and took the time to add a candle to my guest's dessert in honor of her special day. Parking is easy and close, and the restaurant validates your ticket. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent food! Great atmosphere and perfect spot for a date night.
Had the short rib and polenta and it was excellent! Boo had the tortellini social and we couldn't stop dipping bread in the sauce!
Overall very enjoyable. Food is first class. Service was slow and inattentive. Noise level was very high, mostly due to the violin player who was only about 10 feet from our table. Been there many times and will definitely go back Food was great.
Visited the restaurant on February 14 Valentine’s Day. Service was good , food was excellent. Very comfortable setting. My only small complaint would be violin player was a little loud.
The short ribs and polenta appetizer was great. The entrees, however, were not good at all. They lacked flavor, the filets were overcooked, and they were very over-priced.
The waitstaff was great and attentive and we liked the atmosphere, but I cannot recommend this restaurant based on our meals.
I was pleasantly surprised. This restaurant is a gem and you must see for yourself. The service is the best I've had in some time and my meal was Delicious.
First time here. We sat in a cozy booth and enjoyed a delicious wild mushroom & truffle omelet. Delicious menu selections, made to order, great for brunch. If you like gelato, this is the real deal. I'll definitely go back!
We believe this remains as the best restaurant in this small town. We find the menu to be creative and diverse. Great wine list. Wonderful desserts. We strongly encourage newcomers to the area to try this restaurant. No one has been disappointed yet!
Great dinner.. Food and service were excellent.
The food was delicious, the staff were nice and we even got a free dessert!
Every dish was delicious and memorable. The gnocchi was superb as was the filet. The cosmo was wonderful and it included gelato!
Very crowded and loud but excellent as usual
Caffe Gelato is a great spot for lunch with girlfriends. I've done Mondays with friends and really enjoyed the $6 salads. Of course, after a salad, you don't feel guilty splurging on gelato. Hard to pick a favorite flavor, though the creme brûlée toffee might be at the top of my list! I've also done the $6 paninis on Thursdays with friends. Their lunch specials are a great deal! Today, I went with my husband and we had the featured salad of the day - pan seared sea scallops on mixed greens - it was delicious! They validate parking and service has always been friendly and professional! If you want to impress company from out of town, take them to Caffe Gelato!
We visited Caffe Gelato on January 20th during Newark's restaurant week. We arrived a bit early and tried to get a drink at the bar while we waited for our table. The bartender was so backed up that we didn't even receive drinks before we were seated 15 minutes later, and we cancelled the order and sat down. Once at our table, we sat and waited about 10 minutes before someone (not our server) brought water and bread, then ANOTHER 10 minutes went by before another server finally noticed that we weren't being waited on and asked if our server had been by, then went to find her. When we FINALLY got a visit from the server, she explained that they were short-staffed and apologized for the wait and took our drink orders. Our dinner took a VERY long time, and we watched a family at the table next to us give upon waiting for their server and leave the restaurant before they could order. In a situation like this, I would have expected a manager to have come to visit our table and be circulating the dining room trying to keep customers happy, and really, if they were so short-staffed, someone should have told the hostess to stop seating people. The food was all very good, but sadly, with so many other great dining options in Newark, we won't be returning.
