This was my first time here, after recommendations from friends. I LOVED it! The atmosphere was high end , but very charming. I had the roasted salmon since I am a big fan of seafood, and it was AMAZING! Our server was very attentive and we had a wonderful experience. Will DEFINITELY be going back!
A few friends and I were doing a post-grad meetup in Newark and wanted to go someplace a little nicer than our typical El Diablo or Grotto’s. I’m a pasta and wine lover, so I suggested Caffe Gelato. It was awesome!! I ordered the tortellini in Parma Rosa sauce (highly recommended) and my two friends both had the Lobster Gnocchi. The chefs really do an amazing job here no matter the occasion - I’ve gone here for casual lunches and more formal dinners and they never fail to impress.
We always enjoy our special evenings at Cafe Gelatto! This time we took advantage of the Summer Price Fixe meal and thoroughly enjoyed everything!
Cafe Gelato was good as it always is. Sitting outside a bit noisy for an afternoon. May reconsider to sit inside on my next visit. Service and food was great!
Our waitress was extremely helpful and making our lunch selections. She was very friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch.
Always top notch!
Our meal and service were just okay. I ordered a Caesar salad - the dressing was too fishy and for some reason there were nuts in my salad. Good thing I do not have a nut allergy. My husband said the mixed green salad was good though. I ordered a small plate of lobster gnocchi which was pretty good and very filling. My husband had the Chicken Milanese and said it was overdone. The atmosphere itself was very nice and hopefully we just hit this on an off night.
Our server was nice, but restaurant wasn't that crowded and I still had to ask for water. For the price, the quality of the food was subpar. It wasn't spectacular. I've been to Italian places where I paid a lot less for better food. Iwouldn't go here again. Also, the temperature was almost unbearably hot.
Casey, our waiter suggested excellent wine and entree. Little disappointed with greeting/seating. First table gave us a great view of the men’s room. Asked to be moved - much ado,..they weren’ busy . our Open table reservation was not acknowledged in the system and we received an email about how important it is to keep reservations (I agree). Had to send email back to open table that we were indeed there and acknowledged our waiter and meal. Gelato was melted when it reached the table. Disappointed really really wanted to rave about the place, but not this time...
I saw in the bathroom that it was 1/2 price wine night. The waitress didn't even know this. I also had a birthday coupon that I was told I couldn't use in conjunction with 1/2 price wine night. The coupon doesn't cover alcohol, so the rule is ridiculous. She continued with not bringing my friend her 2nd drink until we flagged her down, she took my coupon and never applied it, and when I asked to have my salad boxed and some extra dressing, she forgot the dressing and when she finally brought me some, it was the tiny bit left from my meal. I have been to Gelato before, but won't be going back any time soon.
The ambiance and food was marvelous. Our server was upbeat and professional!
Cocktails were outstanding. We took our time with some shared tapas, dinner entrees, a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, and amazing gelato. The staff didn’t hurry us and we felt very relaxed. It was overly noisy when we arrived about 7 pm, but had quieted down considerably by the time we left at 9:30 pm. An overall enjoyable evening.
The food was good but the service was mediocre. After receiving our food our server didn’t come back to check on us until my pasta was cold and I wanted cheese for my pasta so I was waiting to eat it. She then dropped the check off and said she’d be right back but then passed our table at least 5 times before returning.
Cafe Gelato is consistently an enjoyable dining experience- a variety of great entre's and attentive wait staff.
Good service. Food was Good. Homemade pasta was tasty , although the sauce was extremely runny. I am guessing it was a fresh batch.
But over all. Would return to cafe gelato.
Food is consistently very good, as is the service. A favorite!
Great restaurant with a fantastic menu. Highly recommended.
Alwaya a pleasure
WE were celebrating our daughter's college graduation. We got the wine cellar room and had a blast. It was a very special night for all.
The food was delicious and the physical atmosphere is nice. However they appeared very disorganized and their owner seemed extremely controlling of everything. Our reservation was not ready on time and we shuffled in and outside repeatedly while the extremely rude owner decided on a new seating chart. It seems the staff are excellent, but management and ownership, lack basic hospitality.
The beet salad and featured scallop salad were both very tasty. Loved sitting outside on a beautiful day — however, it does get noisy at times. Pleasant lunch.
Graduation day and Caffe Gelato was the perfect choice to celebrate. Food and atmosphere were great. The one drawback was martini Monday was only good at the bar.
Great time. Great service. It was my wife’s birthday. She was very happy. Thank you.
Always satisfied when I leave after a night of wonderful food and of course, homemade gelato. I like that the menu changes seasonally but then there are always weekly features as well to complement it. I had the crab and shrimp mousse crab cake and it was amazing. The crab meat was delicious but the shrimp mousse put an entirely different spin on it to hold everything together and enhance the crab.
We brought friends who had moved to Florida last year and commented on not being able to find a good MD crab cake in FL, but this one blew them away.
Our server was also the bartender so our experience was horrible. Took us a long time to get a table as no one was working the host stand in an already extremely crowded wait area. No one said even a Happy Mother’s Day to my wife or Mother.
First time dining at cafe gelato. The food was really good. Loved the atmosphere . Staff was very accommodating we dined on mother’s day for brunch.
Overall enjoyable meal!
We had reservations for 12:30, we got there and there was a host station set up outside & while everyone was waiting for their RESERVED tables in the pouring rain with their old mother who dressed up for this nice lunch, the host was inside staying dry when he could have been taking down our names & helping us get out of the rain. After
we were thoroughly soaking wet the gazebo dumped on my grandmother and then we left. We never even got to sit down.
Went for Mother’s Day brunch; had to wait in a line in the rain for 20 minutes past our reservation time. Not impressed.
They accepted Open Table reservations and then everyone had to wait in the rain outside for 30 minutes or more to be seated. We sat on the outside covered patio to try to speed up the wait. It took 45 minutes to get French toast and Eggs Benedict - which was cold when we got it. They need a bigger kitchen and a better managed process. They made food for large parties of 8-10 before our party of two. When I complained for the third time the manager brought me back to the kitchen to show me my ticket was next in line - with about 15 tickets in line after mine. I saw only two table with food.
Happy Mother’s Day!!
Restaurant was not ready for first reservation of the day for Mother’s Day brunch. French toast was cold and poached eggs were over cooked. Staff seemed flustered. Not the experience we have had at this restaurant in the past. Would not go again
Went for Mother's Day. The menu was unexpectedly slimmed down to help them manage the abundance of holiday guests (was really craving the crepes, but they weren't an option). I had the Eggs Aragosta with lobster - very good! The mimosa was great as well. I would like to return for dinner.
The food was good but we thought it was pricey. We were going to order salmon which was over 25.00 but no sides came with it. Pasta dishes were also high. It's in a great spot on Main Street but a little too expensive for what we got.
Creative Brunch - great food and the best Gelato in the Tri-State Area
Great as always. We love coming here.
Service was excellent, Carmen is always great.
Food was a little disappointing. May be too many people came for the special (?) It was quite crowded. The chef was too busy (?), even my favourite, lump crab and shrimp capellini was disappointing. Sweet potato fries were still good.
We dined at Caffe Gelato prior to attending grandson's Chorale Concert at the University of Delaware. Food was outstanding and we were not rushed during our meal.
We love this restaurant; we try to visit it as often as possible. The food is always very good, with a wide variety of options.
Great meal last night! Food was delicious and menu options terrific. Everyone in our party of 7 loved their meal.
Entrees were excellent and plentiful. Apps leave a lot to de desired. Outside patio seating could be more comfortable. It did not help having rowdy college students dropping the f bomb every other word. Will avoid during college terms.
