We have dined at Caffe e Vino regularly when attending theater performances at the Polonsky Theater. The restaurant continues to offer very well prepared foods and excellent wines, as well as attentive, knowledgeable service.
I wish it were a little larger, but that is a minor detail. I will be back soon.
This was our 2nd time dining at Caffe e Vino. Both times the food was well prepared. The value was excellent. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Since it was early on a Thursday night the restaurant was quiet, so conversation was easy. Next time we go to Fort Green, we will happily consider this restaurant again.
This is real Italian comfort food, and not the kind that is smothered in marinara. Honestly, it is not easy to find such throughfully crafted and carefully prepared anywhere, including Italy. I tasted everything - there were three of us - and each item induced an extended ahhhh ... For example, the fennel salad was almost all fennel, which had been marinated in a mild vinegarette - maybe even blanched - so that it was soft and well flavored, yet still had a crunch. The stuffed chicken was unlike any I have ever had; I don't even know what was in it other than eggplant, but it was extremely flavorful. And the desserts....good gawd, save room for dessert! The staff were courteous, friendly and attentive, but not overly so (nobody asked us how our first bite was....), and the service was fast; we had a rez 90 min prior to the start of a nearby show and were able to enjoy a relaxed meal with dessert and coffee.
Friendly staff and wonderful food!
Food was good and price was reasonable. Our clothes smelt like food for the next 3 days. We did not like that. Probably won’t come back sadly.
Tasty food. Best tiramisu! Close to BAM. Glad they were open on Christmas Day because everything else was closed.
Reservamos para poder celebrar la Nochebuena. Eramos 11 personas y teníamos el salón para nosotros solos. La camarera nos atendió muy bien, nos recomendó gnoquis y raviolis muy buenos los dos platos. Fue una cena muy agradable.
really disappointed, not a real Italian, the web site is really different that the restaurant. Poor portion and if you are a group you can paye with you cart. i will never come back
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, and the staff got us out in time to make our theatre reservation as requested. Nice wine choices, nice entrees. We'll be back, I'm sure!
Very nice atmosphere and great food. Small place but it was great for 8 of us to sit together comfortably and have conversation.
Delicious food and excellent service. Very cozy. I had the salmon which was delicious
Caffe e Vino is one of our favorite places. It is perfect for a brunch dinner or meal after hours. It is a warm comfortable and ambient atmosphere. The service is excellent and welcoming and the appetizers, entrees, and desserts are delicious! It is a great place for friends, family, or bringing a date.
Authentic Italian food, great service, small intimate venue. Staff tuned into pre BAM show customers who need to leave before showtime.
Always a wonderful meal, service and overall experience. I've been going for several years and the experience is consistently great. My business colleagues from around the country stayed in Manhattan but traveled to Brooklyn for what they described as a "fantastic meal".
Cafe e Vino is a neighborhood gem. Great for pre/post shows at BAM, but also perfect for low key a weeknight date. Don’t skip the tomato flan that comes with the bread - so unique and delicious!!
Excellent food. Great home made Italian cheese cake and pasta. Very accommodating with great service. Need to update their wine list.
This is an excellent restaurant for dinner before a BAM performance. The food is excellent and the service is prompt.
Italian food done right, good wine selection too, attentive service - all in a cozy setting. What else one can wish for?
Food is always expertly prepared, wine excellent, and service about as friendly and personable as it gets. I have been eating here for years, and never left disappointed.
Nice, cozy restaurant. Excellent food. Good Service
A small, cozy Italian restaurant that cooks good Italian food and has a nice atmosphere. Sort of a local gem.
Good choice if you’re going to BAM. The best Tiramisu!
While the seating is a little tight when this busy restaurant is full, the food and hospitality are great.
Great food, we had a Sunday night dinner and it was excellent. Great neighborhood place.
We have dinner at Caffe e Vino at least once a month. The food is always delicious and the service is warm, welcoming and attentive. A hidden gem in the neighborhood.
1st time visit and happy to find this small and personal restaurant close to Barclays center. Had an early seating and were happy to see the small room fill with regulars that were greeted by the owner. Good food and prices. Only negative was no A.C..
On an oppressively hot Thursday last week, Caffe e vino worked their magic even better than usual with a special salad of mesclun with grilled peaches and walnuts, and a pasta special of linguine with smoked salmon, arugula, cherry tomatoes and garlic. Followed by their sensational torta di mele (order early). Bravi , tutti! Better than ever.
I always dined at Caffe e vino when going to performances at BAM or the Polonsky. Now I feel it's a destination in itself; and I look for things to do in the area just so I can go to Caffe e vino.
Terrific Italian comfort food. Like going to Grandma's for Sunday dinner.
One of the best Italian restaurants in Brooklyn. The food is well thought out and fresh. Many varied and original dishes.
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! We "fell" upon Caffe e Vino in March when we had our first trip to Brooklyn for the ACC Basketball tournament. It was SOOOO good!!! Everything we ordered was like nothing we had ever eaten before (spinach gnocchi is sinful!!!). The kids picked dessert and we were skeptical about the ricotta cheesecake. It might be the best dessert we've ever had. I decided to bring my daughter there last week after a day of sight-seeing in Brooklyn. Another outstanding meal! She kept saying " I've never tasted anything like this!" Pappardelle with mushrooms and the pasta with eggplant & mozzarella are our favorites (and the gnocchi... but it's so rich - you have to share that). ENJOY!!!
Consistently good food and wonderful service. We go frequently before theater and the specials are always excellent! The ricotta cheese cake is probably the best I have ever had!
Food is excellent. Unfortunately, the idea of adding 20% gratuity turns me off. Plus, it's cash only, which you only find out when they bring the bill. Beware though, they are charging credit card prices, not "cash only" prices. This makes the food low value in the neighborhood, since the portion is on the smaller side. Will not come back.
Service was very attentive, but food was lackluster.
Love everything.!!Will come back again
Caffe e Vino is part of the pleasure of visiting Brooklyn to see shows at either BAM or TFANA.
They never let us down.
I have come here for pre-theater in the past, but I was pleased that it is open for a late lunch. Very good lunch choices, though a few more salad choices might be a good idea. Typically fine attentive service
I have to say we chose this restaurant by default BUT it is was the best choice we ever made - the food was truly unique - my Friend is not a eater and she finished her entire plate - that speaks volumes - we have known each other 30 years and I have never ever seen her do that - the food was unique and delicious - cannot wait to go back!!!! I highly recommend!!
This restaurant lived up to the reviews. It had a cozy atmosphere with delicious food. The service was great, even though the place was full we were allowed to take our time for our pre-show dinner. The seafood special, Italian bouillabaisse, was phenomenal and just the right amount. The tomato "flan" served with house-made focaccia was superb (I've been looking for the recipe ever since our dinner). A very enjoyable experience!
We were originally seated in the back room by ourselves -- we had called to change reservation to 9:45pm from original 9:15pm. Back room was cold and we waiting to be seated in front room.
No order taken -- so we sat in back room for about 10 minutes waiting for table.
Wonder what would have happened had we come at original time scheduled?
