Caffe e Vino is one of our favorite places. It is perfect for a brunch dinner or meal after hours. It is a warm comfortable and ambient atmosphere. The service is excellent and welcoming and the appetizers, entrees, and desserts are delicious! It is a great place for friends, family, or bringing a date.
Always a wonderful meal, service and overall experience. I've been going for several years and the experience is consistently great. My business colleagues from around the country stayed in Manhattan but traveled to Brooklyn for what they described as a "fantastic meal".
On an oppressively hot Thursday last week, Caffe e vino worked their magic even better than usual with a special salad of mesclun with grilled peaches and walnuts, and a pasta special of linguine with smoked salmon, arugula, cherry tomatoes and garlic. Followed by their sensational torta di mele (order early). Bravi , tutti! Better than ever.
I always dined at Caffe e vino when going to performances at BAM or the Polonsky. Now I feel it's a destination in itself; and I look for things to do in the area just so I can go to Caffe e vino.
Terrific Italian comfort food. Like going to Grandma's for Sunday dinner.
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! We "fell" upon Caffe e Vino in March when we had our first trip to Brooklyn for the ACC Basketball tournament. It was SOOOO good!!! Everything we ordered was like nothing we had ever eaten before (spinach gnocchi is sinful!!!). The kids picked dessert and we were skeptical about the ricotta cheesecake. It might be the best dessert we've ever had. I decided to bring my daughter there last week after a day of sight-seeing in Brooklyn. Another outstanding meal! She kept saying " I've never tasted anything like this!" Pappardelle with mushrooms and the pasta with eggplant & mozzarella are our favorites (and the gnocchi... but it's so rich - you have to share that). ENJOY!!!
Food is excellent. Unfortunately, the idea of adding 20% gratuity turns me off. Plus, it's cash only, which you only find out when they bring the bill. Beware though, they are charging credit card prices, not "cash only" prices. This makes the food low value in the neighborhood, since the portion is on the smaller side. Will not come back.
I have to say we chose this restaurant by default BUT it is was the best choice we ever made - the food was truly unique - my Friend is not a eater and she finished her entire plate - that speaks volumes - we have known each other 30 years and I have never ever seen her do that - the food was unique and delicious - cannot wait to go back!!!! I highly recommend!!
This restaurant lived up to the reviews. It had a cozy atmosphere with delicious food. The service was great, even though the place was full we were allowed to take our time for our pre-show dinner. The seafood special, Italian bouillabaisse, was phenomenal and just the right amount. The tomato "flan" served with house-made focaccia was superb (I've been looking for the recipe ever since our dinner). A very enjoyable experience!
We were originally seated in the back room by ourselves -- we had called to change reservation to 9:45pm from original 9:15pm. Back room was cold and we waiting to be seated in front room.
No order taken -- so we sat in back room for about 10 minutes waiting for table.
Wonder what would have happened had we come at original time scheduled?
The service was quick and efficient but more very courteous. It's a cozy fit but comfortable. The food was freash and not over done. Attention to taste first, then presentation. But both were great. Had the bruschetta starter and stripped bass special for dinner. Didn't have time for the triamisu but intend to go back very soon. Love this place!
