Caffe e Vino
Caffe e Vino is a small Italian restaurant with friendly service and wonderful pasta. It is very convenient to Theatre For a New Audience and to BAM. The service is generally excellent, but this time the waiter forgot my wife's starter order.
I’m so disappointed to give this poor review. I have been going to this family run restaurant for years; it’s been my go to place before doing anything at BAM or Polonsky Shakespeare Center. But it has been going downhill lately. When the owner was on site, the restaurant ran beautifully, the food was fantastic, the staff was warm and welcoming. My understanding is he’s moved out of state. This last time, the restaurant was very warm. The waitress explained that the person the night before had forgotten to leave the air-conditioning on. As an older building, it does require a running start to cool. We were sweating so I requested ice for our water. The waitress’s response, “Please don’t kill me. The same person forgot to close the door of the ice machine.“ I don’t understand why they wouldn’t send someone out in advance of the dinner rush to buy ice at the local supermarket so they could take care of their guests. Finally, I ordered a salad and an appetizer. The salad came, our curtain time was arriving so I asked where my appetizer was, and the waitress looked at me like I had two heads. She completely forgot.
Lovely neighborhood restaurant. The food and the service are always good.
This place was a pleasant surprise. From the service, the ambience, the food, the costs......I can go on and on. The Tuscan Lasagna has to be one of the best Italian meals I ate in this city. Their meatballs....veal and ricotta! Home run here.
Good food and atmosphere, tarnished by rude employees.
Great pre theater choice. Easy walk to see a 7:30 at Polonsky Theater for new audience. Had the special a delicious fish stew with lots of seafood and a very generous pour of a glass of wine. Will def come back when when seeing a show or movie at BAM
Brilliant food, service and ambiance. A new local favorite!
Great pasta and ambiance for the price and my friend and I really enjoyed ourselves before seeing a movie at BAM!
Vino is what it is, good food in Downtown Brooklyn. The brunch is a very good option for a casual dining experience. With the open window the street noise and conversation does get a little much at times. Remember this IS BROOKLYN. Overall I love this place, yes, because it's Brooklyn.
We loved it! The cheesecake was to die for!
This has to be the best restaurant in Brooklyn. Everything was fabulous!
The restaurant was cash only. There should be warnings on Open Table before a reservation is confirmed
Food is good and solid, but not excellent. Location is very convenient and the vibe is relaxed.
This has always been a great favorite of a restaurant for us. It never fails, thank you very much!
What an amazing find! Great food, atmosphere and service. Close enough to BAM for a pre-performance meal. Reasonable prices, particularly given the quality of the meal. We will absolutely be back often.
Perfect for working lunch
I recently dined at Caffe e Vino with friends and enjoyed it very much. The food is very good and reasonably priced. The wait staff was attentive without hovering. This is a lovely neighborhood gem.
Cozy, authentic and delicious food with very attentive waitstaff. Will definitely come back!
Food was great, service perfect, ambience very nice...only negative was that the tables were small. Will definitely go back.
Really delicious and enjoyable.
Having dined here before we knew what to expect in all areas and that happened this visit
This was some of the best ravioli I've ever had.
Caffe e Vino is charming. The food was delicious. We sat in the front and the noise level was loud. The 2 women sitting next to us added to the decibel level. Perhaps the back is quieter or if you go at an off time.
If you just need to grab a bite before a show at BAM, this place will do. But it’s really mediocre on every level.
Terrific! Of the many Italian restaurants for date spots in Brooklyn, the value for what you’re getting here is unbeatable. Food is amazing, especially in all their traditional entrees, but what makes it special is that the servers are very friendly and really do want locals to come in and feel comfortable and known. This was our first time there and we are sure to be back!
Wonderful food, wonderful service, wonderful overall experience
On a raw winter night, what could be better than ducking into Caffe e Vino for homemade pasta with mushrooms and beautiful roasted pork? This place is cozy and warm, the service is professional and prompt and the food delicious.
It was nice
Fantastic food, charming place and excellent service. We will be back many, many times ASAP! One of the best new dining experiences we have had in a long time. They go above and beyond the call of duty to make you happy.
Great food, excellent service. Very quiet for a Friday evening. Great wine selection.
What wonderful service! And the food was amazing. We did not speak for the first five minutes. Just sad there nodding at our plates while we ate. Unbelievable!
I think this restaurant would be a pleasant experience for people not dining immediately before a BAM performance
Very good service, cozy, warm atmosphere. Some of our dishes like the meatballs and cannelloni special were somewhat flavorless although my wife’s lasagna and our guest’s shrimp dish were good. Desserts were excellent.
Overall I would recommend as a good neighborhood eatery.
Good menu choices attractively presented. Warm and friendly service.
Lovely neighborhood find! I'll go back again. Our food was delicious and service attentive without being overbearing.
I took my husband here for his birthday and it was so romantic and I loved the food sooo tastey even the bread and butter!!! Service was exceptional.
Very cozy spot, great for neighborhood pre-theatre dinners!
We had a totally enjoyable evening: warm ambience, excellent service, delicious food. Our only reservation was that the cost was higher than we had anticipated, and the credit card machine was out so we had to pay cash.
Rustic, cozy spot. We lived the food and the ambiance. The only thing I’d suggest is bring out a warm bread basket. Our bread was very cold.
Thee restaurant has a warm atmosphere with good food and service.
