Caffe e Vino
we were easily able to get a table for 7 people. They were out of the wine we wanted and recommended a different wine that was served too warm. They also charged us for the wrong bottle. This place is cash only and gratuity was include (probably because of our group size) so be prepared for that. Otherwise, the food was good though the portion size was on the smaller side for their price points.
Good cozy Italian restaurant.
This is our favorite place to go for dinner before a show at BAM. Very nice and friendly service. The food is very good.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. I live in Manhattan but come here often for Italian food. Everything is fabulous but don’t forget the very different and wonderful cheesecake!
We were a party of 7 so we were seated in the back room, which was really nice. We found the food was delivered at just the right pace for a social evening with friends. The food was enjoyable, we did lots of sharing ("oh - you have to taste this! no, taste this first!). All in all a great evening. :)
My only complaint, if you can even call it that, was they ran out of chocolate mousse before we ordered dessert. BUT the cheesecake was amazing and the apple dessert was delicious as well.
We enjoyed the food and the service was great. We were in a rush because we were headed to a concert and they were very fast.
Service is great and food is great! The small was a little awkward that specific day.
We have enjoyed eating here with family and friends for many years before BAM or TFNA. The spinach appetizer and bronzino this week were particularly delicious.
Food was delicious; service is stellar.
Open Table description should be updated to read cash only. This was super inconvenient since we didnt carry a lot of cash on this trip.
Focaccia table bread was nice and soft. Gnocchi was light and pillowy, but I thought the butter sauce could have been a little more developed. Pear salad needed a little more flavour/dressing. Parpadalle and tiramisu was delicious.
Food was good, as was service. But beware! This restaurant does not accept credit cards.
Online menu and actual menu should match. Can't wait to go back to try new items.
Everything was excellent. Attentive, friendly service. Very quiet. Cash only.
Saw the restaurant posted on Open Table and figured I would try it because I love Italian food. The food was absolutely delicious! I got a mussels appetizer, and a gnocchi dish that I asked to include shrimp. My friend got the chicken dish with eggplant and goat cheese. Both meals were so tasty and unique. The focaccia bread they put on the table came with this incredible tomato spread. The server was very professional and attentive. Highly recommend this place!!
I went for a family dinner we were 8. It was tight and there was no air conditioning. They tried opening windows but it was just too hot. The selections were limited. everyone was friendly and nice but I expected a more polished environment.
Nice cafe in a less-trafficked nook of Fort Greene. We ate with our friends who have a toddler and the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. One of them even picked him up and talked to him with a smile on her face.
Great food, service and ambiance, but no credit cards? Cash Only? Really?
I made a reservation for 11AM Sunday which I received a confirmation email for. However when we went there, the restaurant was closed and the manager came out to tell us it would open at 12. It would have been nice if they called us and gave a heads-up! :(
Caffe e Vino is a small Italian restaurant with friendly service and wonderful pasta. It is very convenient to Theatre For a New Audience and to BAM. The service is generally excellent, but this time the waiter forgot my wife's starter order.
I’m so disappointed to give this poor review. I have been going to this family run restaurant for years; it’s been my go to place before doing anything at BAM or Polonsky Shakespeare Center. But it has been going downhill lately. When the owner was on site, the restaurant ran beautifully, the food was fantastic, the staff was warm and welcoming. My understanding is he’s moved out of state. This last time, the restaurant was very warm. The waitress explained that the person the night before had forgotten to leave the air-conditioning on. As an older building, it does require a running start to cool. We were sweating so I requested ice for our water. The waitress’s response, “Please don’t kill me. The same person forgot to close the door of the ice machine.“ I don’t understand why they wouldn’t send someone out in advance of the dinner rush to buy ice at the local supermarket so they could take care of their guests. Finally, I ordered a salad and an appetizer. The salad came, our curtain time was arriving so I asked where my appetizer was, and the waitress looked at me like I had two heads. She completely forgot.
Lovely neighborhood restaurant. The food and the service are always good.
This place was a pleasant surprise. From the service, the ambience, the food, the costs......I can go on and on. The Tuscan Lasagna has to be one of the best Italian meals I ate in this city. Their meatballs....veal and ricotta! Home run here.
Good food and atmosphere, tarnished by rude employees.
Great pre theater choice. Easy walk to see a 7:30 at Polonsky Theater for new audience. Had the special a delicious fish stew with lots of seafood and a very generous pour of a glass of wine. Will def come back when when seeing a show or movie at BAM
Brilliant food, service and ambiance. A new local favorite!
Great pasta and ambiance for the price and my friend and I really enjoyed ourselves before seeing a movie at BAM!
Vino is what it is, good food in Downtown Brooklyn. The brunch is a very good option for a casual dining experience. With the open window the street noise and conversation does get a little much at times. Remember this IS BROOKLYN. Overall I love this place, yes, because it's Brooklyn.
We loved it! The cheesecake was to die for!
This has to be the best restaurant in Brooklyn. Everything was fabulous!
The restaurant was cash only. There should be warnings on Open Table before a reservation is confirmed
Food is good and solid, but not excellent. Location is very convenient and the vibe is relaxed.
This has always been a great favorite of a restaurant for us. It never fails, thank you very much!
What an amazing find! Great food, atmosphere and service. Close enough to BAM for a pre-performance meal. Reasonable prices, particularly given the quality of the meal. We will absolutely be back often.
Perfect for working lunch
I recently dined at Caffe e Vino with friends and enjoyed it very much. The food is very good and reasonably priced. The wait staff was attentive without hovering. This is a lovely neighborhood gem.
Cozy, authentic and delicious food with very attentive waitstaff. Will definitely come back!
Food was great, service perfect, ambience very nice...only negative was that the tables were small. Will definitely go back.
Really delicious and enjoyable.
Having dined here before we knew what to expect in all areas and that happened this visit
This was some of the best ravioli I've ever had.
