lovely steelhead dish, highly recommend the cauliflower side dish, nice atmosphere for conversation
The gnocchi with mushrooms and truffle was excellent.
I tasted two reds to decide which to have with dinner. One of them had gone bad, which the waiter should have noticed before bringing to the table.
I really love Caffe Dolce as a neighborhood classic, and a place you can always depend on having a fun yet classy and funky ambiance. However, I am always a little disappointed with the limited dinner menu, and how overpriced it is for what you get. Food is good but usually a little oily and so many different flavors, it's hard for your pallet to process. I think I will try Brunch next time.
Generally speaking our family enjoyed the dinners. In particular my ragu was very salty and I did not finish it. We all liked our salads. Our server was attentive and pleasant. Of course she introduced herself by name, something that would be laughable anywhere else in the world.
We always try and have a meal here when in Missoula. Good service, food and very friendly staff
One of my Dolce favorites is the house salad (now almost $10, a glaring example of price creep). Have ordered it many times. This time it was tasteless, drenched in oil, lacked pecans, and also lacked the sort of delicate greens that usually make it delicious. Should have sent it back but didn't want to make a fuss. Have had this sort of experience at Dolce many times. That said, the entree was very well prepared and very tasty. Have had that experience often too.
Went to Cafe Dolce with my fiancé for dinner. The food was amazing with lots of local stuff. Our server was Jarad and he really made our night. He was fun knowledgeable and not over bearing giving us just the right amount of attention. The duck was crispy and juicy, the salads were fresh and well built, cheese plate was local and well proportioned and the wine list was eclectic and extensive. We sat in a lovely corner and had a great time together. They also have a whole different day time thing going on with a coffee shop feel. We went there also for coffee and had cinnamon brioche toast. I crave it still. Try this place you won't be disappointed.
Introduced our best friends that are new to Missoula to the short rib ragu and they loved it
We started our new year's eve celebration with Caffe Dolce's prix fixe menu. While a bit pricy by Missoula's standards, the chef's course selection, creative use of local and seasonal ingredients and artistic presentation made our meal more that worthwhile.
I've eaten at Caffè Dolce several times and enjoyed every one, but the meal I had most recently was particularly outstanding. We ordered all of the vegetable sides, along with a steak, and the food was delectable. I can't say enough about the roasted cauliflower, or the Brussels sprouts with fish sauce vinaigrette, or the mustard-glazed root veggies, or the roasted squash (which was, honestly, the best squash I've ever had). The house-made gluten-free bread is incredibly good - had I not known it was GF, I never would have guessed.
The service was of disappointing quality and quite slow. A relatively slow night and it took us 2 hours and 15 minutes to have dinner with no appetizers ordered. Found ourselves having to flag down the server multiple times.
The food was excellent and the service friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was sparkly with Christmas lights , but very high noise level made conversation amongst the four of us difficult. Definitely go there for delicious food!
The food and service have been better. The servers are much less polite and professional than in years past. As we were seated the server told us the food would be slow that night (not particularly crowed). Again, the large bottle of Perrier were out (this happens way too frequently). I hope the restaurant will return to better service and organization.
Rustic Italian with a modern appreciation of farm-to-table. Chef Adam knows what he is doing and isn't afraid to raise the bar when it comes to food. The Wine list is impeccable and pretty much 100% Italian and French. Beautiful.
We eat at Cafe Dolce often, probably once to twice a month. The service is usually very good. However, Friday night our service was sub par. Our server was friendly, and was accommodating to my husband and I splitting our meal. When we got our appetizer of clams, she brought us a bowl in which to put our shells, but didn't bring any appetizer plates. She gave us the tiny forks for the clams, but our bread plates were gone. When she brought our entree, also no extra plates. She didn't come back to the table until we were almost done to check on our dinner. My husband had to eat the short ribs with the clam fork call my because she didn't leave our silverware after our salads. We will return to Caffe Dolce, but I will say it was a little disappointing
We have found Dolce up and down over the years, and this time it was down. Instead of the usual tasty rolls, the waiter served rolls that were one or two days old: inedible. Should have sent them back but didn't want to make a scene. The house salad came with no pecans (contrary to the menu) and little of that dreamy goat cheese, and was drenched in vinegar. Nine bucks for that. Also should have been sent back. The pasta, however, was good.
We come to Missoula to visit our kids & grandchildren & this is the restaurant ov our choice.
Professional, ambient environment. Cheese tasting was very good, the entrees were not for me. The gelato was very good.
I have eaten here in groups from 2 to 10. The food is always superlative. Usually the service is terrific, but on the most recent occasion - a relatively quiet Wednesday night-, the service was atrocious. It took too long to have our drink orders taken and served. We thought our food order had been lost. At the end a second server came out to apologize that our server had gone home after her shift ended, and that she did not know who had ordered what! This was very surprising based on my previous experiences, and , although I will always come back, might dissuade others from returning.
Last two times portions were small for the money spent. Left hungry.
Being a one-of-a-kind dining experience like Cafe Dolce has a special allure for visitors (like me) who want to capture the Missoula vibe while enjoying outstanding cuisine. Makes me want to be a local!
Excellent food and great service. Quiet, unassuming place in a quiet residential neighborhood. Open style seating - like eating in a large living room. But, tables are far enough apart to be private. Christina was an excellent waiter. Attentive but not obtrusively so. We had the specials - a seafood pasta and my pal had the salmon. Both were outstanding. Definitely a good place to spend a quiet dinner.
Dolce at its best. Everything delicious. Dolce has been up and down in the past. Let’s hope they keep it up.
Great lamb burger. Menu is more limited than in the past,
Wonderful meal, terrific service, amazing staff. Our favorite place to go - morning, noon, and night!
Cafe Dolce has a unique, almost an old-world look and feel. It is not an intimate setting by any means, but the ambience is very nice. The service was great, our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was excellent. We had the wild mushroom, goat cheese, bread & butter onion pickles bruschetta and then both ordered the pasta special; fusilli with heirloom tomato, seafood ragu, grapefruit & herbed mascarpone...delicious! When and if we get back to Missoula, we will definitely go to Cafe Dolce!
The food is good, but not great, and it's pricey. There was a special Middle Eastern chef event, which is why we went, but the menu was very limited and meat-heavy, so as a vegetarian, I didn't have a lot of choices. Also, the reservation was for 3 people, and all 3 of us were there, and the hostess took us to a table for ... 2. Hmmm.
We have dined at Dolce much less often as the quality of the dishes grew spotty even as the prices went up. This time all was quite good, though.
One peeve all the same: many favorites of mine have disappeared over time from the Dolce menu, such as roasted chicken, squid ink pasta, and a pasta with mussels. Even a particularly good green salad is gone.
Delicious! We had a great dinner at Caffe Dolce. Our waiter was excellent, the food was delicious.
Good place to eat.
