Caffe Buon Gusto - UES
RUN DONT WALK incredible everything. Marcello the waiter was caring, the environment was romantic and the pasta was the best I have ever had in my life
Place is so good I want to keep it for myself. Make a reservation or wait a while for a table. Will eat here every time we are visiting the city.
The best! Always delicious!
Food had way too much garlic - not as good as it usually is.
The food here was amazing! They were also running a special on some of their bottles so we got a lovely $90 red for only $45! Our server was charming and made wonderful recommendations for our dinner. Will definitely go again
Loved this place and can’t wait to return. Small, cozy, intimate dining room and a beautiful garden dining area outside back patio. Great food and amazing service. Had a special with whole wheat linguini, salmon, tomatoes, zucchini and pesto. My wife loved the gnocchi and pesto.
Very reasonably priced.
Medicore food at best. Rude and unprofessional owner.
He was insulting and not honest.
The ravioli was very nice. Bread was also excellent. There were only 3-4 active tables being actively served so the noise level was very low. I liked it overall.
Great pasta. But Small cramped and noisy.
Both me and my guest had the Ravioli (with different sauces: Alfredo & Marinara) with a salad (which was very fresh). Only comment is that you couldn't taste the spinach that was supposed to be in the ravioli squares (and maybe wasn't, which may explain why they were so deflated). Tasty sauces though.
For desert, I had the Tartufo which was superb, but my friend had the apple tart which she found too flabby.
The service was OK (the place filled up rather quickly after we arrived at 6:30 PM—with reservations—which really challenged the servers and prevented the service to reach at least 4-stars).
Pleasant decor, and noise level which rose as the quite small space filled up. Luckily we were in the back corner table and were able to converse reasonably well (having to repeat oneself about 25% of the time though). Overall the experience was good, and a future repeat is certainly in the cards (to check other items in the very extensive menu).
Great experience- nice atmosphere in the back of the restaurant.
Food was delicious and service was excellent. Portion size was a little small, but other than that everything about this restaurant is awesome.
The only problem here is trying to make a decision from this vast menu. Everything here is so delicious. Pasta are unparalled and salad specials are creative in a good way. We always bring friends and they love it.
Enjoyed it . Took a while for us to get our first drink but it was very busy for a Wednesday night in my opinion. It made it hard to hear one another . The food was delicious though and the waiter told us about their back patio-so we shall return.
A find on the Upper East Side. They will see me again and again.
Amazing pastas and very cute small outdoor seating
I know CBG in Brooklyn but had never been to the one on the UES. I insisted that my visiting friend try it instead of a very expensive restaurant that she had picked out. She loved this restaurant. So did I!! Food was great. Our waiter was fantastic. We shall return…maybe in a couple of days!!
We were pleased about every aspect of our experience. Food was well-prepared and delicious - no complaints at all.
Ambiance was very pleasant - we were early and selected the best outdoor seating.
Service was a bit slow, but friendly and helpful. The waiter’s suggestion re entree was spot on.
Noise level was not an issue - we were eating lunch outside.
We were very excited to try this place based on reviews and photos but we were very disappointed in the food and service. Even though the restaurant wasn’t very full, the wait staff were very slow and inattentive. There were ants in the bread basket, a slug slithering on the wall of the patio that none of the servers noticed. The gnocchi came inedibly undercooked. The chicken dishes were fine but not very flavorful and the broccoli on the side was undercooked. We will not be going back.
Love the back garden!
Wonderful experience as expected! The homemade pasta is fantastic. This is our go to place for a great meal that’s reasonably priced.
The pasta a la vodka blows my mind every time. This place is one of my favorites in all of Manhattan
Excellent local restaurant. I have been a regular for years.
Outstanding fresh pasta. Love the outdoor seating in the back. Great value and will return
Great outdoor seating in the back, attentive staff. Mixed up a dinner order but had it resolved within a few minutes. Friendly host and great vibe, quality pasta dishes cooked perfectly al dente. A go-to for any lover of an American-Italian dinner
very pleasant & quiet place. The lunch menu includes many different kinds of salads, which makes it easy to eat lightly... if so inclined. There are certainly more substantial choices.
We have been here several time. The pasta is homemade and excellent with plenty of choices. Wine by the glass was a very generous pour. My only complaint would be the noise level. It’s a small place, and a few tables of loud diners really had a negative effect on the ambiance. Go off peak.. probably much better then.
I really enjoyed the food but the service was odd...
Delicious food!! Wonderful service!!
Amazing pasta. The carbonara was our favorite followed by spicy vodka sauce. The service was slow especially the time it took to process the check. The restaurant was really small and cramped. But the pasta was so good that I can’t stop thinking about it!
I went here for my friend's birthday and the restaurant and staff did such an amazing job making the night so special. The garden in the back is a beautiful little spot for a romantic dinner, and the handmade pasta is delicious and affordable. I will definitely come back!
Been to restaurant a number of times and tried various dishes. I've never been disappointed and Wednesday I was treated as it was my birthday! Food as usual was delicious.
Tasty, the service was pretty good, and the owner/maitre'd is awesome. I loved my experience here.
L'endroit est magnifique, service très rapide et les repas délicieux.
In town from Chicago
The host was charming and extremely accommodating as a resource for food and desert selection. The food delicious!
literally the best pasta on the upper east. i order from here all the time and its always amazing. get the homemade pasta it's worth it
Love the quiet ambiance and wonderful food and service that caffe buon gusto provides to everyone!!
There are thousands of restaurants in NYC and I have never returned to the same one with the exception of Caffe Buon Gusto. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The selection of entrees is excellent and accommodates vegetarians and those who eat gluten free. Beer and wine are available, but there is not a full bar. There are a few outside tables and the evening we were there dining outside would have been lovely. We showed up with one more person than I reserved for (I can't count!) and everyone was seated. We literally closed the restaurant down because we were so enjoying our food and the evening.
Owner was rude. When my friend asked the price of a particular bottle of wine he said "what's the difference a dollar or two here or there". This answer is unacceptable for comfortable dining. The food was okay and the rest of the service was good.
