A friend and I stopped in to Caffè Buon Gusto's Brooklyn Heights location for dinner before a show. Cozy space, quaint if forgettable decor. Ask sweetly for extra pizza bread and focaccia, it's amazing! The shrimp and prosciutto appetizer was perky and tart, and the kitchen made me a hearty risotto. Desserts were passable but not memorable. Jen was an amazing waitress, so funny and sweet! Management was not able to figure out our OpenTable payment voucher and was pushy about selling us bottled water, but otherwise a passable dinner. Thank you!
My husband and I enjoyed the food. We plan to visit again.
Very simple, but amazingly good food. Very traditional Italian (and I know since I was in Italy last year). The eggplant parmesan is not breaded, like it is in Italy. So much better than Americanized eggplant parm. Chicken Fra Diavolo was awesome. For the price in a great part of Brooklyn, it is well worth the trip.
One of my “go to” places in Brooklyn Heights for a casual or a business lunch or dinner.
Good service, can at times be overly attentive.
Food nicely prepared, reasonably priced.
Pasta sauces tend to be French style, northern Italian. My preference is southern Italy, Mediterranean influence. .........dke
Food is very good. Well priced. Ambiance needs updating
I've had dinner at Caffe Buon Gusto several times. The food is fresh and very good. The service is friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend it as one of the restaurants to check out on Montague Street in Brooklyn.
Second time I've met an out-of-town friend staying in Park Slope at Buon Gusto. No more looking for nearby restaurants. This will be our meeting place. The food and wine was wonderful. Service cordial and attentive. Their fixed prix dinner menu was amazing. We ate with Buon Gusto!
They have a wide variety of good food. Nice wine. Service was just the right balance of presence and unobtrusiveness. Recommended!
Mixed quality of food. Menu listed scallops with pancetta, but they were wrapped with American bacon. Salad with beef tenderloin was actually with ribeye--a cheaper cut than promised. On the other hand, avocado, tomato, and mozzarella salad and pumpkin ravioli on the night's special menu were excellent. Also irritating was that they were out of the first two bottles we asked for on the wine list. Not good for a place that advertises itself as a quality Italian restaurant!
Our waitress was awful. We mentioned it was someone's birthday and she pretended to not speak English well to avoid having to do anything. We clearly saw her speak English to other tables.
This is my favorite restaurant in Brooklyn Heights! The food is delicious and the staff is so friendly and accommodating.
The server was clueless, kept dropping or spilling everything she carried to the table. Food was bland, unimaginative and poorly presented. Would not recommend.
It was a nice evening in Brooklyn Heights. Great neighborhood. We sat outside and enjoyed the streetlife.
