Our new cafeteria-themed menu is a modern interpretation of classic soul-satisfying American dishes prepared with organic grass-fed beef and lamb, free-range chicken, the freshest seafood and organic, local produce. These properly raised ingredients
behave perfectly with a new world of herbs, spices and culinary techniques to create deeply satisfying comfort food for the new millennium.
The new lighting in Cafeteria is so depressing. Way too florescent and bright. Please bring back the old warmer dim lightning. The rest of the renovations look & feel pretty nice!
Was tough as they were out of gluten free buns
I frequent cafeteria and love the food. They updated the dining room and suddenly a club soda costs $6!!!??? When I mentioned it to the staff they shrugged their shoulders. I could buy six cases of club soda for that price. Cafeteria- that needs to be adjusted! The mark up on soda in any restaurant is high- $6 is a joke.
My boyfriend had his first drink spilled all over his shirt for our Valentine's Day date. The ambiance was depressing because there were very few people there.
Loved it! Great food and drinks. Perfect brunch spor
I have dined here before and my past experiences have been more pleasant than this time around. Our waiter seemed to be annoyed and in a bad mood whenever we asked a question about the menu (we were asking about sweet potato fries and before I finished my question and quickly answered “no we don’t have it” in a rude manner). I do understand that this item was not on the menu but I still asked just in case. He just seemed upset and gave a bad service. I ordered a burger and it was dried and tasted old. If i ever go back, it will mainly be for drinks during the summer time.
Our server Jason was perfectly attentive, pleasant and informed. The chicken Milanese was incredible. Food was timely and hot.
It was way more expensive than before and very noisy. The service was good but I probably would not go there again or recommend it to friends. I liked how it was before the renovation.
Great atmosphere, quick service as always! And of course delicious food 😊
Had meat in my food we are vegetarian. Food was way over priced. I have had expensive priced food before and I don’t mind paying for it but this was not worth the money they charge. Side note they charge $2 for a side of mayo and 2$ for onions.
Went for brunch. Waiter service quick and hostess very good.
Bar drinks good
Food was just ok. Breakfast pancakes arrived cold.
Has to Ask for butter and syrup for pancakes
I thought the brunch dishes were quite expensive for what was served.
Will go again for drinks probably
They could fix the heater but the food was great.
Formerly one of my faves on Newbury has only disappointed recently. Ambience is no-existent. The lower level feels like an airport restaurant wedged into a sports bar with zero decor going on and very dated and ragged furniture competing with the large screen tv at high volume. Upstairs has great windows but the tables and chairs are ridiculously wobbly and the white table tops are so horribly stained from years of use it was troubling. Service on both visits (one lunch time and one evening) was super slow and orders were messed up (bacon on the egg sandwich when ham was requested, etc.) When their new linen napkin left my dress literally covered in white lint from chest to knees I got a shrug and a weak apology until I asked for a better solution and was given a roll of tape. Their outdoor dining is probably still great but I don't see myself coming back again after two back-to-back disappointments. Sorry to see this. I've always liked this place.
What an incredible experience a cafeteria! Best morning cocktails I’ve ever had. Best steak and eggs breakfast in Boston hands-down. Can’t wait to get back. Incredibly friendly accommodating staff on all levels. Just a solid cool place for a Saturday morning brunch.
Opentable had reservations available for Christmas Eve at 6:15pm, so I booked a table for 5 for my family. When we got to the restaurant, it was closed. Given it was Christmas Eve, it was hard to find an alternative at a moment's notice. Very disappointing to experience first hand the disconnect between Cafeteria and OpenTable.
It was very poor since when we got there it was closed and we were never infirmed
Kitchen turned out fantastic food as always. Terrible waiter and the bottom floor was freezing.
It is a lovely restaurant. Great brunch and location.
We sat by the door and it was really cold. Everything else was great though!
Food was good but not amazing service decent but not amazing. It’s solid but nothing out of the ordinary
poor service. mediocre food. waitress messed up the cocktail and still charged us for it. we split an appetizer and a pizza and left hungry. The prices are high for what you get. I will not be dining here again.
A bit of a disappointment. Last night in Boston after some memorable meals - this wasn’t one of them. Food was good...but the ambience was pretty poor.
Entered downstairs - just felt cold and down at heal. Asked to move upstairs - better but no real ambience - glad there was a table of about 10 to liven things up. Windows grubby etc. Just needed sharpening up and some thought to creating a better vibe.
Quick and easy. Great food.
Nice place, unfortunately had horrible service and food was cold.
While eating dinner at Cafeteria me and my friend watched two mice run across the floor of the restaurant. We politely told our server about this and he did nothing about it and didn't even seem concerned.
We tried Cafteria BOSTON for brunch based on reviews and loved it! Service was great, food was delicious, cozy ambiance!
Very nice staff and a nice venue. However the prices were a tad inflated given the quality of the food. Essentially $9 food with a $17 price tag. Wouldn't recommend eating your time here.
Extremely overhyped, expensive, and very plain environment
Food was bland. Roasted beet salad was really bad and terribly overpriced. It was basically a pile of (pickled) beets with a small layer of salad. Mac and cheese lacked salt and was $17. For bland pasta! Hanger steak had no flavor. I don’t recommend
We had a group of 8 and were seated in one of the high booths which worked out great for conversation and being a bit separated from the rest of the restaurant. The service was good and everyone enjoyed their meals. Our reservation was at 2:30 on a Sunday so once we finished eating we were able to linger long after without any pressure to turn over the table.
Our service was subpar and I tend not to complain. Our waitress was not only inattentive but also lacked a positive and welcoming demeanor. It may have been a busy time for her but she could have at least checked in. The food was good but average and it is very expensive for the quality of the meal.
Yummy ! McKenzie is an awesome manager !
Love Cafeteria! Service is great and our waitress was very friendly. Food was delicious, however I am giving it a 4 out of 5 as the menu had pretty standard meal options and I could have gone for a few more choices for brunch. Overall great experience, great food, and I definitely recommend!
We ate outside and the bees were constant! Made enjoying our breakfast difficult.
Meeting up with a college friend!
We live in the neighborhood and it was our first visit. We stopped for brunch and ate on the patio. The food was nothing special and the service was pretty poor, had to ask 3 tines for a refill on our water. There is so much choice in this neighborhood we won’t bother going back.
Okay place for brunch, restaurant is pretty cute. If it's warm outside, I definitely recommend the patio seating; however, it was cold when I visited so sadly, didn't get to do that. I came with a group of friends, and we made a reservation, so we got seated very quickly. We got truffle fries to share as an appetizer, super delicious! And I got the breakfast pizza, which was more like a flatbread with ham, arugula, and egg. It didn't really seem like there was any cheese on it? Pretty good, but I wouldn't say it was worth the price. I'd love to try some of their other items to try and change my mind.
