Cafe Vico Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
The food was outstanding! We are outside on the patio, which suited our party's preference to be able to talk and not compete with the band playing in the bar. Service was friendly, maybe because we were sitting outside that it felt a bit slow at times. All in all, we will be back, the food will beckon us.
Cafe Vico is a standard choice for us. The food and service are consistently very good. It's a great place to go for happy hour; the bar is typically very lively and the entertainment is pleasant without being disruptive of conversation. The ambiance is comfortable and reminiscent of a cozy Italian trattoria. Overall, it's a great choice for a everyday dining as well as a special occasion.
Had been here before and was ok but thought we would try again. Went on a Thursday hoping is would be less crowded but bar was busy and loud. Overall our dinner and experience was horrible. We ordered salmon which was dry and broccoli on the side was cold (almost frozen) and a chicken rollatini special which was so over cooked the bottom was like wood where i could not even cut with a knife so sent it back. Then ordered eggplant rollatini which was not cooked. The ricotta stuffing was grainy and raw and served like soup. Horrible! Waiter never said anything to us or the manager apparently as no one apologized Or tried to make up for it. The waiter just tried to push more food and dessert. We asked for the check to cut our losses. Went to a local diner for coffee and dessert which was delicious we should have just had our meal there also and saved the money and aggravation. Cafe Vico is off our list forever.
Cafe Vico is my favorite Italian restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale (Broward County). On this occasion I dined with friends for lunch. It is my first time for a lunchtime visit. The menu offers a good selection and the food is prepared and as appetizing as dinner. The lunch menu is lower in price and the portions are suitable for lunch. I will enjoy more frequent lunches at the restaurant, not to mention the usual dinner experiences. Marco is a always available to greet and meet with the guests. The atmosphere is great and the staff friendly and efficient. You will not be disappointed.
Love the overall atmosphere. Live band was playing in the bar area which was nice but we preferred to be seated in another room which we did. We felt our table was squeezed into the room too close to other tables but didn't let that bother us. This is the third time that I have eaten in this restaurant. All three times, I thoroughly enjoyed my food. I like the bread with garlic/herbs/oil for dipping although the garlic was a bit overwhelming. This time I ordered the veal francaise ($30.95)which was very tasty although a little more chewy than I like. It came with steamed broccoli and a side of pasta. (Pasta came out cold so we had to ask to have it heated up.) My husband ordered one of the specials, the veal osso buco, which had no price listed on the menu. He said it was good but not outstanding. He didn't care for the risotto surrounding his plate. We were shocked when we saw we were charged $49.95 for the osso buco! But, it was our fault for not asking the price before ordering. He would have ordered the lasagne if he had known the price of the osso buco. I had a glass of Sonoma Cutrer (chardonnay) for $14. So, our bill for two entrees and one glass of wine came to 100.59 including tax. We added a 20% gratuity to this. Although I would return to Cafe Vico if I was in the area, I would definitely pay attention to the prices of anything I ordered.
Because the food was excellent and our regular service even better, we overlooked Vico’s reputation for stealing his staffs’ tips. Well then he fired his top two servers after New Years without giving them notice or severance. Won’t be going back but will let labor authorities know. And Vico, when we ask about what happened to our regular server, don’t lie to our face and say he moved to Coral Gables.
The Italian food was fantastic, and the service was impeccable. The menu had traditional Italian dishes and my eggplant rollatini was a mixture of cheeses wrapped in tender slices eggplant with a light tomatoe sauce. This appetizer was easily shareable.
There was plentiful dinner rolls with a garlic infused olive oil.
My entree was Saltimbocca and the veal was tender and plentiful and have a wonderful brown sauce with melted cheese over it. There's also a side order of penne pasta with a light tomato sauce.
Overall between the appetizer and the entree I could not find room for dessert but the dessert tray brought to the table was extremely enticing.
The service was impeccable and friendly and the owner seated us at the table. I felt comfortable and not pressured. Cafe Vico is definitely on my list when I get back to Fort Lauderdale.
We went after the Christmas Pageant matinee because of the location. There were 8 of us and they had early seating available on a Saturday evening which was perfect! The food, service and entertainment (live) was excellent. The overall experience was wonderful. It is a little pricey but I can say that the food was worth it.
Café Vico was my girlfriend's request for her birthday dinner. I've tried this place a few times, and to be honest, I really don't know what all the hype is about. The food was ok, not overly flavourful. They serve what I consider "mainstream Italian". If you're looking for Italian like you had when you were dining in that small village in Italy, this isn't that place.
My seafood risotto wasn't terrible but wasn't memorable either. The risotto, to me was a bit too al dente. My girlfriend enjoyed hers, which was important, but then later she told me she thought the service wasn't great at all. I didn't say anything because it was her birthday, and I wanted her to enjoy the place she picked, but I felt the same way.
When I made the reservation, Open Table asked if it was a special ocaission, and I indicated, it was a birthday. We showed up with gifts in hand, and not a person acknowledged it. Very disappointing. I don't need/want the group of waiters standing around singing Happy Birthday, but at least make SOME effort. This isn't an inexpensive place to dine, so my expectations are that the food and experience should match the price. Overall I left this place, as I've left it in the past, "meh". People rave about this place, but I had dinner at Il Mulino just down the street a couple days later, and felt that the food was as good, and the service much better.
This restaurant is one of our favorites. When we have business guests in town, we only take them to our favorite, always good, restaurants.
When you are foodies, like we are, it is hardest to please those people who eat only standard foods. They know what they like and are content to eat it over and over again. This creates another issue in that they compare restaurants with great vigor. Cafe Vico did not disappoint. Our guest ordered chicken parmigiana and promptly declared it the best he had ever had. “YES”. So thanks for our wonderful meal and the ability to please our guest.
