Cafe Vico Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
This is our third or fourth time dining at Cafe Vico. I rated the way I did taking into consideration the other visits, which were good. Based on this experience I wouldn't in confidence send a friend there. In the past the food has been good, ambiance nice, and service impeccable. It has been said before: You go for the food, you come back for the service. That's why I chose Cafe Vico for my birthday dinner. No, I did not tell them it was my birthday. Food was fine. My husband enjoyed his veal. I found the lasagna to be too rich with a LOT of bechamel sauce. We couldn't taste much of anything with the Caesar salad - but we added the bread dipping sauce to it and it was greatly improved. Bread wasn't quite fresh - had that microwaved feel where it comes out warm and then gets really hard. Service was fair. I'm always disappointed when food is auctioned off - especially when it's a table of two - and this is not Cafe Vico's way. We were offered a second drink, but were mostly done with our meal by then. We waited for quite a while after plates were cleared so we decided not to stay for dessert. I was excited for a cannoli but was tired of hanging out and wanted to leave. In the past service has been so wonderful that they would appear when you didn't even know you needed them (to refill a champagne or clear a plate). It was impeccable.
Granted it is Season... so they are busy. They offer a Groupon, which yes, we did use. I also made my reservation through Open Table instead of through them directly. Oddly, I always feel like when I use Open Table for my reservations I get a lousy table (in this case at the kitchen entry). So not a great experience. I will probably go back after time, but with greatly lowered expectations.
As always Vico is there... The kitchen was good, not great. Our server, was almost NON Existent... Being honest. We sat & waited almost 20 min. before anyone came over to us! A salad app. was ordered & was brought 2 min. before the main course was brought.
Waitress, never came back to check if we needed / wanted anything else. Not what we usually get there.....
The food was outstanding! We are outside on the patio, which suited our party's preference to be able to talk and not compete with the band playing in the bar. Service was friendly, maybe because we were sitting outside that it felt a bit slow at times. All in all, we will be back, the food will beckon us.
Cafe Vico is a standard choice for us. The food and service are consistently very good. It's a great place to go for happy hour; the bar is typically very lively and the entertainment is pleasant without being disruptive of conversation. The ambiance is comfortable and reminiscent of a cozy Italian trattoria. Overall, it's a great choice for a everyday dining as well as a special occasion.
Had been here before and was ok but thought we would try again. Went on a Thursday hoping is would be less crowded but bar was busy and loud. Overall our dinner and experience was horrible. We ordered salmon which was dry and broccoli on the side was cold (almost frozen) and a chicken rollatini special which was so over cooked the bottom was like wood where i could not even cut with a knife so sent it back. Then ordered eggplant rollatini which was not cooked. The ricotta stuffing was grainy and raw and served like soup. Horrible! Waiter never said anything to us or the manager apparently as no one apologized Or tried to make up for it. The waiter just tried to push more food and dessert. We asked for the check to cut our losses. Went to a local diner for coffee and dessert which was delicious we should have just had our meal there also and saved the money and aggravation. Cafe Vico is off our list forever.
Cafe Vico is my favorite Italian restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale (Broward County). On this occasion I dined with friends for lunch. It is my first time for a lunchtime visit. The menu offers a good selection and the food is prepared and as appetizing as dinner. The lunch menu is lower in price and the portions are suitable for lunch. I will enjoy more frequent lunches at the restaurant, not to mention the usual dinner experiences. Marco is a always available to greet and meet with the guests. The atmosphere is great and the staff friendly and efficient. You will not be disappointed.
