Cafe Vico Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We were in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea over the weekend. The friends that we were visiting there are not much for seafood. We wanted to take them out to dinner. It was going to be either steak or Italian. We decided on Italian. Vico's is very old and established. The atmosphere is very cozy even though in a strip mall. We were pleasantly surprised that there was live music in the bar. Our meal was very good. We had the meatballs appetizer and the calamari to share. My only comment is that the marinara sauce could be a little spicier. The meatballs were delicious and the calamari was tender and crispy. I didn't taste the lasagna but it looked great and my friend who ordered it was pleased. It was a huge portion. All of the portions were generous. Another of our party had a nightly special with seafood, black and white pasta in a red sauce. It was very good. The seafood was fresh and the dish was appropriately briny from the seafood. Two of us had the parpardelle with broccoli rabe and Italian sausage. The sausage could have been, again, a little spicier, but the dish was very good and on the lighter side from the other 2 dishes. We had tiramissu and creme brulee for dessert. Both were quite good and they also had an excellent brandy, which most restaurants, sadly do not, anymore. We had a lovely evening at Vico and left stuffed to the gills. I would recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Italian fare in the Ft. Lauderdale area.
Second time in a month my wife and I had dinner there. This time we brought two friends. Service was great. Food even better. Three of us had a seafood special. Before ordering was asked the price. Was told $39.95. When we got the bill, the specials were $42.95. I pointed it out to the waiter and said he was sorry for telling us the wrong price. He adjusted the bill without us even asking him to do so. The right thing to do.
I'll be back
This is my fifth or so visit to Vico.
I do love the ambiance and friendly staff.
The place is starting to look old and needs a fresh look. Did not like the lighting..too bright...maybe candles to soften up...
The food was ok..I had the cream lasgana but it came out in just 10 minutes or so. It was good but not great. Not sure what is going on but the place seems to be in decline.
And the prices are high so not a great value.
The owner greeted us which was cool....
Would I go back....most likely not...
A local in the area recommended Cafe Vico as one of the best Italian restaurants in the Fort Lauderdale area. We have been there several times since, sometimes eating at the bar, and at tables. The food is very good, classy Italian. I highly recommend the stuffed artichoke and tirmasu to start and end the meal. Those are my two benchmarks for good Italian. All entrees ordered were very good. The service is outstanding... very professional and friendly. Definitely give a try, you will not be disappointed and will would be surprised if the experience wasn't worth another visit.
Delicious, authentic food. Exceptional service. Made a reservation and had to wait a little for our table to be ready, but was compensated by a discount on an appetizer, as well as a couple pieces of bruschetta on the house. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend, and revisit when back in the area.
Cafe Vico has been one of our favorite restaurants for years. Especially for special occasions such as our recent anniversary. Marco and family are always so welcoming and we feel at home.
Now with the addition of the wine bar, it's also great for happy hour!
Great looking menu. However, one of the two appetizers ordered was forgotten and not served. I ordered the snapper served piccata style. The fish was mushy and not tasty. My wife’s dinner of a pasta dish with meat and mushrooms was prepared well and tasted good. We felt rushed as if they needed the table. But, they didn’t. The restaurant’s ambiance is good with the walls, even in the bathrooms, being decorated with pictures of famous personalities. Would probably give it one more try.
I normally just go to happy hour in the lounge, But this was my mom's birthday, so we dined in the dining room and they took very special care of us! The food and ambiance as well as the service were fantastic. They even brought a nice chocolate dessert with a candle to my mom! It was thoughtful and very delicious! My only comment was that it was a bit more pricey that I had anticipated. But everything else was perfect! I highly recommend! Especially their happy hours in the bar, great value and great entertainment!
Acted on a suggestion from our VRBO host. This is the kind of place you might miss, as it's located in the corner of a strip mall. It's not to be missed, as it delivered on all counts. Top notch service (they accommodate your pace), nice ambiance and spectacular food (carpaccio to start, then lasagna bolognese and spinach ravioli). The menu is large and full of variety. I still can't quite believe how good this place was. I wish I had something similar in my hometown.
Everything was good from the food to the service the only thing was I order the ceasar salad I was diappointed it was just lettuces with very little dressing for the price it should have been made better the other thing is when they tell you the special they should give you the prices so when the bill comes you not shock that the meal you just ate cost almost $50.00 dollars.
