Great place. Delicious food and top notch service.
Vico’s is fabulous! I don’t usually take the time to write a review but after dining at Vico’s Sunday night, I felt like I had no choice. The restaurant is, like so many others in south Florida, tucked in to the corner of a strip mall on Federal Highway. From the outside, it doesn’t look like anything special but, once you get inside, you realize that looks really can be deceiving. It is a large restaurant that they have separated in to several smaller rooms. Each one feels warm, homey, and very “Italian like”.
Our waiter was at our table within a minute to introduce himself and take our drink orders. Fresh, warm rolls were served with the most incredible garlic & herb olive oil for dipping. (When I say garlic, I mean GARLIC! Yum!)
I had the eggplant parm, which was cooked perfectly with a wonderful, firm texture. It came with a side of spaghetti and the marinara sauce used in both the eggplant and over the spaghetti was so good I would have bought some to bring home if they sold it. It had a sweetness to it that you might not like if you prefer your tomato sauce more zesty, but I loved it. Also on the plate was a perfectly cooked piece of broccoli and a dollop of mashed sweet potato. (Sweet potato, at first, seemed to me to be an odd pairing with pasta but I decided to trust that they knew what they were doing and boy, was I glad I did. It was delicious when eaten with everything else on the plate. My boyfriend ordered the chicken Marsala and devoured the entire serving. (Both of our meals were huge and I took over 1/2 of mine home for dinner the next night. ) When he asked if he could order a salad instead of the broccoli & mashed sweet potato, I expected the waiter to say there’d be an extra charge or to at least, hesitate for a moment. But instead, his response was, “would you like a Caesar?” My boyfriend was one happy guy. :-) Not Only was our waiter attentive but the busboy was incredible as well. We’ll definitely be back! (Even without a Groupon. )
Third time here and once again it did not dissappoint. Friendly service....very accommodating to our gluten-free/dairy-free diets. The food was piping hot when brought to our table. Portions are very large.
All in all you cannot go wrong with Cafe Vico. It is one our go-to places when in Ft Lauderdale from Chicago.
We recently enjoyed a evening with friends at Cafe Vico. Once again, the service was gracious and efficient and the food was scrumptious. We all started with a salad; I particularly enjoy the Arugula salad for its earthy simplicity (arugula with some endive and tomato topped with balsamic vinaigrette). Our friends opted for a house salad with more
vegetables. After eating our salads and devouring the delightful freshly baked bread with garlic and oil, we were all pretty full, but the entrees were phenomenal. Our group coincidentally all ordered the Veal Francese (which was amazing - even though I don't care for Veal) and the Lasagna. Wow. WOW! I've never tried the lasagna at Cafe Vico...it is UNBELIEVABLE. I see why it was voted "Best In Broward". The entree is a very substantial serving (enough for two people or enough for leftovers) and is topped with the most decadent Béchamel sauce. Highly recommend!!! What a fantastic restaurant!!! We've never had a meal at Cafe Vico that was not superb.
Always very good with great consistency. Highly recommend
Food and ambiance/ entertainment was great. The one male bartender who served us was having a bad night but the lady bartender more than made up for his “attitude “. We will be back soon but hope the young guy has had some “training”. There’s more expected from the guests than just a good drink.
Lasagna was excellent!
Overall OK. Prices were a bit high for what I and my friend found to be mid-level food quality. However, I hear there's a specific chef that draws the crowds when hes on. I think it may have beem his day off. It was good though.
Cafe Vico has been serving up delicious food since they opened 20+ years ago. And it all starts with the greeting you get from owner Marco when you walk in the door. Great place!
Probably our 6th time there. Another great experience. The food and service were excellent as usual.
Really nice experience as always. Food quality is great!!!
The food at Café Vico, runs the whole gamut: from very good to pathetic. Twice I have had pastas that were truly bad. How? By the pasta being over cooked and the dishes being over dressed. On the other hand, the lasagna, the veal saltimbocca, and risottos tend to be very good.
My other complaint is related to the noise level. There neither draperies nor carpets, therefore the noise can becoming overwhelming. It is for sure not a place to go on a date on Friday or Saturday night.
The food was very good, serve by a well trained staff. Eating in this restaurant was comfortable and interesting. The staff did not rush us and the food was served in a timely manner.
Ordered the shrimp fri Diablo , Pasta was over cooked sauce was very watery and bland
Service was very disappointing and very uneven
Food was outstanding. Service was excellent.
Great authentic Italian food we will become regulars
All great ...just one negative,....we sat at the bar prior to dinner and the smell of chorine or cleaner was so very over powering.....made you not want to sit there or have a drink...maybe they just cleaned everything and bad timing on our part but if like that often then they need to do something .
Bad, bad, bad. Cafe Vico ripoff.
As a patron of Cafe Vico, with at least 30 dinners at this establishment, we selected Cafe Vico for a special occasion, and we were completely disappointed.
We asked for lemoncello after dinner which has always been provided gratis. Much to our shock, our bill showed a charge of $9.50 for a shot glass size drink of lemoncello. That is $19.00 for a very inexpensive drink. To make it worse, the restaurant added an automatic 20% gratuity on top of the dinner cost and taxes, not allowing us to make our own decision as to the quality of service.
Upon leaving, we stopped the manager, explained the charge was outrageous, and he said tough. He further went on to say if the lemoncello was offered by the server, it would be gratis. If we ask for it, there is a charge. The manger said he could do nothing as that is how the owner wants it to be. We told him we felt we were ripped off, and as long time regular customers, we felt it was just wrong. He said tough. We said we would never return and he said he did not care.
How pathetic the manager has such a bad attitude and can ruin a restaurant and dining experience. Be ware of the rip off tactics of Cafe Vico.
It’s always a near-perfect dining experience! Pasta comes to the table super hot and the garlic/olive oil bread dipping concoction is highly habit forming.
Excellent cucumber jalapeño martini, very good corn clam chowder and crab cakes as well as pasta
Service slow and forgetful would go back as food was excellent
Our favorite restaurant to go to for any occasion, the food is always great and is family owned.
Marco and his wife do a great job!
It was my boyfriends birthday and everything was puuuurrfect. We’re already planning our next date there. He got the lasagna which looked like a double. I got the ravioli and it was delicious, cooked to perfection. Our server was so nice, the restaurant was slow since it was a Thursday night but he still came out to sing happy birthday and brought out a complimentary dessert. We’re still talking about it!
To describe our experience as mediocre would be generous! I selected Cafe Vico for my birthday dinner based on reviews and accolades, but was tremendously disappointed. The live music was in competition with what was playing over the speakers and just came out as distracting noise. Service was disorganized. I asked multiple times for a simple glass of water - ultimately, my husband had to get up and fetch it from another server. Ridiculous! My entree was incredibly under-seasoned with a side of over-cooked pasta with sauce that tasted like it came from a can. When it came time, I didn't even want to consider dessert, I just wanted to leave! Nobody once asked us how our food was - I guess they knew better. Ambiance = fail. Service = fail. Food = fail. Need I say, we will not be returning?!
Excellent, as always! I enjoyed both happy hour and dinner 3/28. The happy hour servers were not very attentive or polite. Unusual for your establishment. Dinner was GREAT!
Great food and service...
Food was good but not anything special. For the prices I was hoping for something a little more special. This restaurant is $3-5 higher for same item as much better restaurants. I used a groupon and would not come back without it. I was also charged automatic gratuity for a party of 4 and when I questioned it waiter said register puts it on automatically. Really?!
Being a recently moved local to the Fort Lauderdale area, I am constantly trying to find new restaurants to visit. I came upon café Vico thru open table recommendations and a friend who frequents the place. I found the linguini with white clam sauce to be fresh and not canned. The drinks were pleasing and the waiter gui was fantastic in all aspects. I highly recommend the restaurant!!!
Food is excellent, service fine and friendly. We had a quiet corner table for 7 which was very nice. Noise level in bar very high. We would definitely come again.
Best Italian in Ft L.
We have been going to Café Vico off and on since it opened. Still very good food and the service is excellent.
Excellent restaurant food ambiance. The whole experience was fantastic. Will certainly return
Eggplant was undercooked. Didnt taste fresh. Fiancee lived his veal.
Great service good food definitely recommend
Love this restaurant. Has tons of delicious gluten free options, including pasta. Great atmosphere always great service.
Delicious food, friendly staff, great service ... but outrageously priced. $17.00 for a shrimp cocktail with THREE shrimp? Ridiculous.
Our friends and my husband and I LOVE CAFE VICO !!! The owner/chef always comes around to all the tables to make sure everyone is happy with their food and drinks! We are enjoying Cafe Vico so much that whenever someone wants to go out....we wind up there!!! I am Italian and you cannot get any better food or service anywhere!
Cafe Vico is CONSISTENT! Wonderful menu selections that never disappoint. Service is spot on. We live returning to this local gem.
We went to Cafe Vico for an early dinner prior to a show at Broward Center. It was our second visit and it remains in 1st place for our favorite South Florida restaurants. There is live music provided by a talented soloist while diners indulge in the delicious fare at Cafe Vico. The ambiance of this establishment is so welcoming and the staff is truly gracious and efficient. Our server, Fernando, was such a gentleman and very knowledgeable about the cuisine and menu selections. The freshly baked rolls and outrageously delicious garlic and oil blend are so scrumptious- it is challenging to avoid the urge to over indulge before the meal is served. The complimentary bruschetta is very enjoyable as well. We ordered the Clams Casino (best ever!) and a Burrata, Tomato, and Crispy Prosciutto (sooo good!) appetizer . Both were splendid! Our entrees were also delightful: a yellow-tail snapper served with artichokes and a chicken ravioli dish topped with cherries. We learned about Cafe Vico through an acquaintance...probably the BEST restaurant recommendation ever!
Amazing experience, the owner is personable and food was amazing
