Cafe Un Deux Trois
We were and still are frequented by American and European theater and film actors, as well as politicians, directors, local New Yorkers and tourists from around the world. You will find many a Broadway cast and crew member hanging out after the show on any given night.
We recently had a facelift featuring enormous windows and a new color scheme.
The food while still classic bistro fare has expanded to include a variety of sandwiches, hamburgers and an extensive breakfast.
We have also added a selection of savory and sweet crepes to our dining choices.

Great dinner as always!!
Un Deux Trois was a perfect place for our Sunday Brunch with a friend. It is a lovely restaurant with delicious food. Plenty of choices.
We had a wonderful experience!
Dinner was delicious and reasonably priced for nyc theater district. One person ordered al la carte and one person had the price fixed meal. Service was great and we did not feel rushed getting to the theater.
I have been dining here for 20 plus years, the food and service has been consistent the entire time. I love the roasted chicken and the chicken cordon blue. Others love the salmon, steak, salads. I don’t think you can pick a bad item on the menu.
Also we have had a person with severe allergies and they were great in accommodating the persons restrictions. They did not make the person feel bad about the special requests.
I would highly recommend you trying the restaurant, but make sure you have a reservation!
Classic old style French cafe in the Theater District. Reasonably priced $29 pre fixe brunch (drink, entree, coffee/tea). Additional mimosas were $13. Good food and great service (attentive but not annoying!) Perfect for pre theater!
Food was amazing… Except for dessert. Cheesecake was very stale. We chose price fixe , which is three courses, only took an hour. I felt a little rushed.
The ambience was beautiful however the food was mediocre. We were looking for a nice place before the theater and this was disappointing.
Two identical entrees that were as if they came from different restaurants: one wonderful tender, plump, perfectly seasoned Moules Frites with broth halfway up the pot; the second contained rubbery mussels that wouldn’t separate from the shell (those that opened) and a scant cup of watery unseasoned broth at the bottom. To his credit, the waiter acknowledged the sad state of my meal and offered to replace or comp the entree. By that time, my companion had finished hers and, frankly, my appetite for moules was gone, so I accepted the credit. Disappointing for a usually solid, predictable pre-theatre dinner.
Beautiful restaurant, great location for theatre, but VERY mediocre food
I use this restaurant as a go to place before a show when I am alone. It works. I usually order good comfort food and have a few drinks.
Classic French bistro fare, uninspiringly prepared and served with no specials or surprises on the menu. Chicken Cordon Bleu was probably half of a half chicken breast, pounded so thin that the "roll" had more gaps than meet. Seasoning in every dish was bland. Food came very fast (too fast for my taste); we were done a three-course dinner with wine in 35 minutes. Tables were very close together -- borderline uncomfortable. Clearly aimed at the pre-theater tourist crowd. Not a good value.
I have dined here many times before. The food is always good and I love the setting. On this visit, I just felt the service lacked the pizzazz of the more mature waiters who have served in the past. I described it to my friends as a beautiful setting with a staff who are experts at pre theatre dining. I would still return.
Wonderful time here before our show. Food and service were top notch!
Delicious food in a great atmosphere. Service was excellent. Great night out in walking distance of theater district.
Limited menu. Average food. Pate was the best thing on the fixed menu. Coffee good. No wow. Wouldn't return.
One of my favorite pre or post theatre stops
This was a great place to have a meal before our matinee. The restaurant is in a great location - right between Grand Central and the theatre district! The food was good - and the menu had lots of awesome stuff. I would absolutely recommend their Pre Fixe menu for the best value. The wait staff was kind, attentive and helpful. I will be coming back here for sure!
Nice atmosphere, but a bit loud. Reservation was honored and hostess was very pleasant. Runner delivered our food to another table before correcting the error. Although food items weren't auctioned off at the table, they were given to wrong guests and we had to switch plates. One of the items I ordered was missing from my plate and something else I hadn't ordered was substituted. When I questioned the server about it, he said they were out of the item I ordered and the chef just arbitrarily substituted something else. I wasn't asked and I wasn't told. It was just done. However, the server was attentive and solicitous and the food was ok.
Normally we love Cafe Un Deux Trois. This time the service was extremely poor. Empty plate sat in front of us for more than 10 minutes and I never got the coffee refill i asked for. Truly sub-par. Food was good although they messed up my order and no one ever came by for me to request the wheat toast I’d ordered so I just ate the white.
Definitely a go-to spot for pre Theater meal. Steak frites never disappoints. Excellent bottle of Gigondas on wine list. Cocktails are average and expensive.
Service was terrific from the moment we walked in to being seated at our table. Our waiter was great, not intrusive but was there when you needed him. Great place!
We all had a fabulous meal with impeccable service. Plus, the $30 lunch was a great value,
Our family has been dining at Cafe Un Deux Trois for 35 years. Lovely staff, and excellent service every single time. Highly recommend!!
While we were not theater crowd, the staff was attentive but left us to catch up with friends. Great experience and decent wine list.
Party of 4 going to see a show. Dinner was plaisant and the food was good. The service was attentive and fairly fast but the noise level was extremely loud as the evening progresses.
Hadn't been there in ages. Absolutely would recommend. Got there after 1:00 and was able to sit and chat for over 3 hours. Muscles were great... ate, drank, chatted and had coffee and desert with a friend. perfect to catch up.
Pre theatre dinner with friends- we were greeted and seated early, without our full party, that was appreciated! The wait staff are friendly, knowledgeable and willing to check with the kitchen about special requests. We ordered mussels, salmon burger, hamburger and grilled salmon, everything arrived exactly as ordered and it was all tasty and well plated. Chocolate mousse was yum! Recommended.
Food is miserable. Ambience is ok, service indifferent, Prices absurd given the poor food quality Only plus for this place is proximity to theaters.
We always have dinner here when we are in NYC. The food is delicious and there's a great vibe to the place.
I have always liked Café Un Deux Trois. Both the food and the service is predictably very good. They are used to handling theatre goers which is a plus. The prices are in line with one expects -- in other words good value. The menu is standard bistro. The kitchen is fast. The waiter was attentive to our need to make a curtain in the most polite manner. I'll be back.
Great pre fixe lunch before a matinee. The chicken over salad was delicious!
One of my long-time favorite restaurants in all of Manhattan, I was overjoyed to realize that our hotel was just two blocks from Un Deux Trois. While the restaurant accommodates service animals, we let ours stay in the room and nap while we enjoyed a late night dinner. Owner/host Gerard was holding court and welcomed us like old friends. A delightful experience with an extensive and varied menu. We're going back soon!
Delicious food, good service and all at a fair price. It was an enjoyable evening.
They sent one incorrect order and forgot another order
The food was just ok, nothing special. The room looks like a big red cafeteria not a quaint cafe. It’s very loud and the waiter was lacking in service and professionalism but he did have an attitude. I would never recommend this restaurant and will never return. Disappointed.
Food and service were excellent. The noise level at the pre theater dinner was way too loud for comfort.
Perfect location, great food, good service. It’s really loud- but that’s standard for that open room style. I had a savory crepe that was really good. I had French onion soup which was amazing. So delicious. Recommend that- a lot. Perfect for pre-Broadway dining.
Wonderful food, service friendly and impeccable! Perfect if you are headed to the theater! The food arrives so quickly that you have time to enjoy it without being in a time crunch. We liked it so much that we went back for lunch another day.
I go to this restaurant at least 3 or 4 times a year. This was the first time I was there solo in a long time. I do think that the waiter had a bit of a challenge with a mature woman by herself -- difficult o get attention; assumed I was done as soon as I finished the main course.
Otherwise, as always, wonderful.
It is a regular stop for us when going to the theater. Always fast, always good and very comfortable.
