This year I selected Cafe Troia for our company Christmas luncheon. I could not have been more pleased. Food was wonderful, service was attentive and friendly but not intrusive. Don’t miss great coffee selection and desserts were top notch!!

We topped it off by being able to make “coats for kids donations” right there!!! Happy Holidays to all.

Thanks Cafe Troia team!

The food was delicious, but the service was off. I took over 20 minutes to bring additional rolls, and another 20 for butter. All the help was polite and kind.

The food was very, very good. Waiter was friendly and attentive. The noise level was totally unacceptable. We expect a busy restaurant to be somewhat noisy on a Saturday evening. However, on this occasion, a party of six was seated in the middle of the dining area. They were beyond loud...they were obnoxiously loud. Seemed to have had too much alcohol. And...their waiter made matters worse by yelling and joining in. In fact, after they paid their bill, he sat down with them and joined in the bad behavior. Other waiters, including ours, just rolled their eyes and seemed to be embarrassed. My wife started to attempt to say something to them, but they were far too gone. The restaurant staff should have handled the situation better. Ruined an otherwise very good evening.

We've been to Cafe Troia a few times and had a great experience each visit. I particularly like that many of the meals come in two sizes, and I was able to get one of my favorites (a pasta dish) as an appetizer while trying something new as my entree.

I did feel that our server had a tendency to disappear between courses, though the restaurant did grow much busier as we were there. While we were eating our main meal, however, she was there frequently, filling our water glasses and making sure our drink orders remained filled.

I suggest leaving room for dessert! Cafe Troia has some very nice desserts and, unlike a lot of restaurants, they make them a nice size for one person. They aren't small by any definition, but you don't feel like you have to share a dessert just to finish it. I think they have a nice mix, too, so everyone can find something they like.

Not impressed. Espresso rubbed steak was bitter, and although ordered rare was overcooked; Caesar salad was tiny and had practically no dressing that would have earned that name, and the croutons from a bag were dry and tasteless as sawdust; seafood pasta that was described as having a garlic/anchovy sauce was so timid of flavor, I should have asked for double the sauce. Mind you, I’m no seasoning fanatic, but the food here seemed like Italian-lite. Ambiance and service was nice tho.

So good! We wanted a quiet special dinner and were so glad we picked Cafe Troia. From the rolls, to soup, salad, clam sauce, bolognese, dessert...all were fabulous. We were very satisfied and look forward to returning. Yummmmm!

I requested a good table and specified on open table I was bringing an out of town friend. Recd a crappy table though booths were open, waiter was completely distracted. No pepper fresh grated or
Cheese fresh grated. Bitter olive oil and stale bread. My cocktail was lovely, my wine was good as was my risotto. A very noisy foursome was obnoxious and distracting. I lost my necklace and returned to pu which I appreciated but overall, to bring a guest....I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED since my last visit.

Cafe Troia has been a long-standing favorite, since we moved to the Baltimore area in the mid 1980's. Usually a solid choice for good Italian food. But this past Friday night was odd: no one picked up the phone at 7pm-ish (on a Friday night!) so I had to leave a voicemail that we would be 15 minutes late, then there was no one at the hostess stand for 5+ minutes when we arrive at 8pm, the waitress immediately wanted our appetizer order and had to be prompted about taking drink orders, bread did not come until the entrees, and then a birthday party at a nearby table was so loud we couldn't have a conversation. Thankfully the loud party left after a while and the rest of our dinner was ok. But it all felt a little off, for a place that for a long time was solid and reliable.

From the moment you walk through the door, you think you've been transported to Italy! The sights, sounds and smells are incredibly reminiscent of the wonderful food we found in northern Italy. My husband, son and I went on the weekend and had a wonderful meal. The service is impeccable but not pretentious. For me, having access to so many gluten free pasta options was just incredible! Again, reminding us of our favorite restaurants in Italy where they prepare a surprising amount of gluten free food. My husband had veal scallopine which he said was better than mine. Our son enjoyed clams and spaghetti and I had a pasta with crumbled sausage, fresh tomatoes and herbs and some broccoli rabe. It was excellent! The cocktails were among the best in the town and the wine selection is truly Italian. You don't want to miss such a wonderful meal. We will be back.

An old standby that still has an interesting menu and creative food that would appeal to most diners. Too bad the alcohol prices keep rising. A glass of wine for $12-16 is not worth it. There should be an affordable house wine to choose from.

Café Troia offer authentic Italian food. They keep it simple with family type recipes. Just like going to my Italian in-laws, without the drama ;). The grilled calamari is so delicious with fresh herbs, tomatoes, olive oil and just enough lemon. The osso bucco; the veal chop; the eggplant parmegiano are all options that will make you happy. Reasonable prices, authentic taste, plenty of choices and a god wine list.

Cafe Troia is in our neighnorhood, and we're so glad it is. We took a friend from Philly there and he was blown away, considering it the best Italian food he's ever had anywhere! Everyone's food was splendid: home made pasta, superb marinara sauce, salads with a melted gorgonzla dressing The desert, a lemon Napoleon, is fabulous, a lemon curd between sheets of crisp and thin phyllo dough with pure whipped cream. That alone is worth a repeat visit. We recommend Cafe Troia to everyone, and congratulate the Troia family for creating such a fine restaurant.

How could we have lived in Towson for a year and not found Cafe Troia sooner? We moved to Towson in Jan 2016 and have enjoyed eating our way across Baltimore County where there are more than enough really amazing places to eat. Cafe Troia, however, for my husband and me, was the best find. True, we are extremely fond of all things Italian, but having been to Northern Italy twice, I can say with confidence that the food is authentic and delicious. The service was awesome - always there but not intrusive. The interior was warm and welcoming conjuring memories of nights spent in Tuscany. So if you are in the area and want to explore some really authentic northern Italian cuisine, don't wait a year to get there. By the way, as many Italians, I have Celiac disease and the chef was able to accommodate me in most delicious ways.

Fresh baked bread with olive oil was incredibly satisfying. My only suggestion would be providing an additional plate so olive oil could be put on that instead of bread plate. Makes it easier to share as,well. Calamari was ranked as better than average by my friend. Arancini were delightful in their textural lightness and flavor. Brachiole with gnocchi had a well Sean one flavor and delicious marinara. Gnocchi were cooked well and not to heavy. Goat cheese ravioli eas refreshing, different and we both agreed 'sparkly' on the tongue. Don't miss yhat dish!
Dessert was a lemon napoleon. Not exactly a napoleon in the traditional french way but nonetheless zesty, tart lemon was the main attraction.
Service was attentive but not overbearing. Room can be a bit loud if filled but not oftputting. Overall a good experience, pricing is on target and valet is free.

Went here for dinner on a Saturday evening. The service was very attentive but not hovering. The Bistecca special was very good. The steak was cooked to the temperature requested, and had been trimmed of most fat. The grilled potatoes were much nicer than the normal baked potato. The sauce was flavorful, but a bit too Tabasco tasting for my wife. The risotto was nice and creamy, but the accompanying pork tenderloin was so dry we left it uneaten. All in all, not a bad meal, but nothing that would bring us back.

We have been to Cafe Troia several times and have always found the food to be exceptional. For starters I had the Calamari Vesuvio. It was a bit chewier than I've had in the past. I should have ordered the Grilled Calamari which is much better. My wife had the Carpaccio which she very much enjoyed. I had the Pappardelle Bolognese and my wife had the Braciole with Gnocchi for the main course. Both were fantastic. My wife tasted my Bolognese and humbly admitted that it was much better than her version. I wisely didn't comment except to say that they were both delicious.
For dessert, I has the Lemon Napolean (delicious) and my wife had the Tiramisu (disappointing). We have found that many restaurants have changed how they serve Tiramisu. No longer a stack of layered ladyfingers with cream and cheese. Now they seem to be serving it in a "sundae" glass. It's just not the same and you get less.
A slight disappointment was at the start. We were served a warm roll with a bottle of olive oil. There was no offer of butter or herbs to flavor the oil and were told that their policy was that we would have to ask for that. There was also no separate dish to hold the olive oil. One had to either pour it directly on the roll or onto the same plate that held the roll. I believe these things should be provided (or at least offered) by the staff rather than putting it on the customer to have to ask for them.
Otherwise, the service was as always excellent.

Our table for 8 was ready on our arrival, so we didn't have a chance to spend time in the inviting bar. Our table was in a quiet area, allowing us to talk. Appetizers and entrees were all excellent although a bit pricy. Our waiter was excellent, never hovering or pressuring us. A nice Saturday night dinner with old friends in nice surroundings.

We went for a quick dinner before seeing Garrison Keillor perform at Goucher, and the waiter, upon being notified we were on a tight schedule, did a great job of getting us in and out on time. But we left wishing we could have lingered longer over the delicious and creatively prepared food. I had the goat cheese ravioli with an orange reduction sauce--what a lively and scrumptiously unusual combination of flavors! And the pasta was clearly freshly made. My daughter had the Agnolotti Piemontesi--more traditional, but equally tasty and also prepared to a very high standard, with fresh pasta. My vegetarian partner had the Penne alla Norma. I didn't taste it, but he said it too was excellent, although the pasta was not freshly made. We didn't have time for dessert, but we surely will make time when we next visit. I'm a foodie, and this is the best Italian food I've had in a long time.
