Cafe Testarossa Ratings and Reviews
I go to Cafe Testarossa frequently during the week and always sit in the main dining room. On Saturday, at 6:30, they stuck us in the other room which was hot and so noisy you couldn’t hear or breathe. Evidently you need to request the main dining room no matter how good of a customer you are. FYI.
My group of six women had a very enjoyable evening. The food arrived in a timely manner and it was nice and hot. We were moved, by our consent, to a quieter, more private table in a small corner room. We were able to comfortably eat our dinners and have good conversations. I will recommend this restaurant to anyone,
We were a group of 9. Service was very good as was the food. Everyone enjoyed their meal, including family from out of town (Seattle area). The swordfish special was really good, as were the many pasta dishes ordered, the bronzino, & even the chicken. Still a goodie!
I booked a reservation for 7 people for my fiance's birthday.. the food was very good and the service was good with good attention paid to clearing finished plates.. there was a little card wishing a general happy birthday to a generic someone.. but not even the smallest token or acknowledgement from staff with singing happy birthday.. a cupcake would have sufficed.. for meal over $300.. it seems like I am not asking to much
We went during restaurant week and it did not disappoint ! Always wonderful prompt attentive service . Several selections to cover all diets and appetites even though it was restaurant week . We’ve always eboughed the food here - continental fare. Would definitely recommend and return again. Definitely a neighborhood gem !
I’ve been to this restaurant many times over the years. I do like it very much, but this past time I was Disappointed. I ordered Gnocchi with sausage and basil in a tomato sauce for an appetizer. The gnocchi was ok, but the sausage was almonds st no existent, as was th basil.it was just a gnocchi with a marinara sauce. I ordered shrimp and spinach dinner, which was presented well, but taste was lacking.
Service was ok,but it also just was not as good as normal. It will be awhile before I return
We went for restaurant week. We had heard good things about the Italian food there and thought this would be a good opportunity to try it. We were not able to get a restaurant week menu beforehand as they did not disclose it. We initially had a reservation for friday night, but luckily found out beforehand that they weren't honoring restaurant week after 7pm on friday and not at all on Saturday. Glad we didn't try to book on opentable, wouldn't have known till we were seated, There were a lot of salads as appetizers and not your typical italian dishes as entrees. Not impressed with any of it. I wouldn't return and pay there regular prices for what we got.
Dinner was very nice and delicious. We weren't seated in the main dining room even though it was mostly empty. Not sure why. The table where were seated was directly under a speaker so the music was a little louder than necessary but overall excellent service.
Pros: The baked clams stood out and the gnocchi was tasty. Octopus appetizer was good however the octopus itself would have had more flavor if it were sauteed with the rest of the ingredients rather than just being placed on top of them. Halibut entree was tasty and the fish seemed fresh. The caramelized banana Napoleon desert was by far the star of the evening, one of the best I've had in a long time. The espresso was also solid and traditionally short not long and drawn out as so many places like to serve it.
Cons: The "house made" warm fresh mozzarella was lacking flavor and texture and appeared to come right out of the refrigerator. If one is touting house made mozzarella it should, in my opinion, be made fresh that day and be soft and "milky"; there's no shortage of good delis in the area that make this fresh daily and one can tell the difference.
Our waiter was nice enough and competent; the bus staff could have paid better attention to our empty water glasses.
The decor is tired (circa 1990's) and one can tell. The wine list was dated and not well thought out.
Overall a solid (reasonably priced) meal that did not disappoint. Although this would not be my first choice for a date night I'd certainly return with my parents (70+) and/or children.
Service was outstanding, however can not say the same about the food. The Manilla clams tasted great but only 6 tiny clams were provided, the mussels were good, but two dishes of crispy chicken didn't make the grade. Sorry, the area has too many great places, would not return here.
The service was excellent. We weren't rushed, therefore, we enjoyed our time there. The food was amazing. I tried the halibut for the first time and it was cooked to perfection. I've been here many times and I'm never disapponted. I would highly recommend this place for newcomers. Thank you to the staff and chef for a wonderful evening.
Went to Testarossa for date night. Was greeted by a very friendly manager. Started with a pear and red beet salad! The ingredients were very fresh and the salad was delicious. For dinner we had the halibut and the lamb chops everything was cooked to perfection (compliments to the chef) and the service was outstanding! My water glass was never empty. For drinks the toasted coconut martini was our favorite! I can't wait to go back and try out their happy hour menu and other items on the dinner menu!
