I treated my near eighty year-old aunt and uncle, and wife to my Birthday dinner - our rules say the birthday person chooses and pays. We had already dined at Cafe Terra Cotta several times before, and I thought all of us would enjoy it again - and we did. The food and service were excellent, but as "old timers" we chose to eat early - not to avoid the crowds, but to get to bed early. As such, this review is for early eaters. Christian, our waiter, was excellent and informative, and humorous. He deserved his "hefty" tip.
In retrospect, it was good to go early - at least on this night (Tues) - because a large party of men came in later and made so much noise, we couldn't any longer hear each other - so we left. That was okay, we were at the end of our evening anyway, but if that had occurred at the beginning, we might not have stayed.
Great place to eat and chat - at the right times. Will be back again, without doubt.
Overall a very disappointing dining experience. The most grievous crime was the noise. I couldn't hear my date. We were packed in close to other couples. The meal was too pricey for this sad ambiance. However the food was outstanding.
Wonderful meal! Cafe Terra Cotta never disappoints.
It was nice and the food was delicious but very little....
Great as always
Love this place...great fresh food made to perfection!
It was very noisy. We were seated at a banquet table and it felt like we were conversing with the people next to us. The bench side of the banquet was much lower than the chair on the other side. The sauce on the appetizer and the entree tasted the same. I failed to get the name of the server but he was excellent. Great timing and just the right amount of friendliness.
The vegetarian option wasn’t any good. Spaghetti squash and onions.
One of our favorite places. The food is always outstanding.
Great food and service on a busy Valentines dinner! The menu was amazing and a great wine menu. One of our very favorite places.
We dined at Cafe Terra-cotta for valentines dinner it was a set menue that nite...normally the food is excellent. I think we should have had Valentines dinner the night before or after. I ordered the scallops with a cauliflower purée of some kind. The scallops were fine but the cauliflower was tasteless. And to be honest I ordered this because of the side dish.
We live in this area and love Cafe Terracotta, it is our go to restaurant for any special occasion for which we prefer to remain closer to home, Valentines Day as an example. The prix fixe menu was very well done, we would have tried any of the offerings for the 4 courses. The service was excellent as always. We came early and enjoyed the quiet vibe, frequently this restaurant has a high noise level.
Great food and fun place, great for a nice date! Will likely be back!
We had another wonderful meal and it is a perfect place for a special day
Limited menu but good.
Way too loud for normal conversation.
Delicious food, exceptional service! Loved the quaint cozy atmosphere
Excellent food and service - highly recommended.
Good food and service but make sure you are ready to pay a lot for that! Tables are real close together and feels like you are having dinner with strangers. We even had some lady sitting next to us comment on our appetizer. Almost felt like I should have offered her a bite. Very loud and tough to have a conversation.
We have been 5 or 6 times and always have enjoyed the food service and ambiance. My wife had the short rib this trip and I had the scallops. Both were expertly prepared and served with outstanding sides.
Great food, service, & ambiance.
Wonderful food and service, but VERY noisy, hard to have a conversation. Nevertheless, we will come back!
We enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Cafe on Saturday, 22 January. This was a joint birthday celebration for 2 members of our family (we had a total of 6 in our party).
Christian was our waiter and made us feel incredibly welcome. From the opening champagne toast to menu recommendations, his service was attentive, warm, and helpful. We were able to enjoy a truly festive meal (more than half the table took advantage of the spaghetti squash entree) and still make our performance at the Town Hall Theatre down the street.
This is the second time that my sister-in-law and I have had Christian as our waiter - and we'd recommend him to anyone who dines at the Cafe.
Very good service. Food was solid as well. Will be back.
Cozy atmosphere, great food, attentive service...I had the scallops, my husband had the lamb chops both were excellent. We started with the mussels in a tomato chorizo sauce which was also excellent. Everything was so delicious including our cocktails and bottle of Super Tuscan. So we splurged for a no occasion night out and it was a bit pricy but well worth it. Definitely need reservations.
WE met some friends for dinner Saturday night and had a very nice evening. We all had different menu items and everything was very well prepared, service was good and the food was great.
The only problem is the Cafe TC is rather small and the background noise is loud. There was one table who were especially enjoying themselves and after they left the noise level was better but still difficult to have conversations without speaking up. It is more enjoyable when the outdoor area is open. Still a great place.
Although we had great drinks and meals, it was uncharacteristicly loud in the restaurant this time. Cafe Terracotta is usually a relatively quiet restaurant, but last Saturday was so loud that we could barely hear each other. Otherwise, it was a great experience - food, drinks, and very attentive wait staff!
For a restaurant that should tilt toward the high end, there were a couple of food problems. Number 1: The risotto in the scallops and risotto is sticky rice. A mass of rice in a clump. To me risotto implies arboreo rice cooked for twenty minutes, after being browned in oil to make a rice pilaf, slowly adding liquid to bring the starch out of the rice to make its own sauce. Arboreo rice cooked like this will not clump together. My 88 year old mother kept complaining that the food was bad, the rice especially. Good thing we had ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts for an appetizer, which were excellent, so I could add them to her plate of “risotto.” Number 2: The fingerling potato slices in my duck confit were burnt and black. The duck was good but the leg/thigh was very small. Not much meat at all. I have been to Cafe Terra Cotta before and like it. This dinner was disappointing.
Food overpriced and over cooked. Staff very polite, efficient and accommodating though.
THE MANAGER WAS VERY ACCOMODATING TO ADD A NINTH TO OUR TABLE. OUR WAITRESS VERY ATTENTIVE AND GAVE US SEPARATE CHECKS, WHICH WAS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Always the best... now, howzabout a chocolate dessert?
What a great restaurant for a special occasion or romantic night out!! In an updated historic house with 12 tables, some bar seating, and a few outdoor tables. Great entries developed by an exceptional chef. The bread, crab cakes appetizer, and short ribs dinner were superb. Even the house Cabernet was exceptional. What a find!!
Great restaurant in Downtown Littleton. Can't wait to try it in the summer when the patio is open.
My only disappointment this year is that they changed the Christmas Eve menu option and now charge for the 2nd course.
I wouldnt go here for dinner. Food and service were both terrible. Overpriced too.
Christmas Eve dinner - the food was mediocre which was disappointing since we’ve had better dinners there.
This is our favorite restaurant of all time. The food is fresh, inspired and creatively prepared. The entire staff is warm, knowledgeable and exceptionally friendly. We dine at Terra Cotta at least once a week, and always feel as if we are visiting family.
Met a friend for a holiday dinner. Good service and great food. One of my favorite restaurants. On Mondays all bottled wine is half so it was a added bonus.
Overly, I really enjoyed Cafe Terracotta. The food was tasty and well presented. Service was good. I found the food to actually be a little too rich for my taste but it was done perfectly. 1/2 price bottles of wine on Monday nights.
We have eaten here many times in the past but generally outside. Inside, on this night, the noise was just horrible. We could not hear each other talk. My ears were ringing. The food was just OK which was surprising. We had the chicken wellington and the halibut. Both were dry. Service was great, wine was great. We ended up eating as fast as we could and left to get away from the noise. In the future we'll just dine here when the weather is good enough to eat outside.
I Have been to Terra Cotta several times for lunch and enjoyed each and every one. This was my first dinner at Terra Cotta and it was delightful. Pleasant atmosphere, great service (thank you Rob!), superb meal, and delish cocktails. I have recommended this destinations to others for dinner as well as lunch!
