Cafe Tallulah Ratings and Reviews
Great location. Close to Lincoln Center. Food was very good with nice size portions. We had the fish and it was cooked perfect. Service and staff were excellent. We had purchased a Living Social deal for the restaurant which was a very good deal including a glass of wine which was excellent. We considered getting another glass so I asked our server how much it was. The manager came over I think concerned that we did not like the wine and we immediately corrected him saying we loved it and were considering another glass. He was very happy to hear that and proceeded to treat us both to another glass of the wine. Nice gesture!
The food was delicious and the service impeccable. We had a tartine which was excellent; two of had mussels which were excellent. Two of us had salmon, Each of us ordered it to be prepared differently and they both were outstanding. The service was excellent and the maitre d' kept checking to see how things were.
I made a 930 reservation through opentable. Food was good. Had the beet watermelon salad as an appetizer. My bf had the pasta with spicy sausage, which he enjoyed. I had the moules frites, also good. Big portions, come hungry. The creme brûlée dessert was fantastic. What got me was the service. No smiles from our server, no personality, only one check-in through the entire meal. Had to ask the busboy to order since our server wasn't around, even though kitchen was closing. I wanted to ask for an aioli for my fries, but wasn't able to. Server dropped the check when dessert was dropped. I understand it was close to closing time and I would have asked for the check anyway when we got dessert - I'm in the industry so I understand he wanted to do his checkout and go home. But he dropped it with no "thank you" or any words at all- just left it as he quickly passed by. I Always tip at least 20%, and we left 18% for the unfriendly service we received. If service was better the entire meal would have felt so much nicer and more comfortable and I'm sure I'd come back. Now I'm not sure I will.
We have been going for years and went this past Saturday night. We had a great waitress, however the food was not good and the kitchen didn't know what they were doing. Our meals were brought before the appetizers and the steak (ordered medium) was very rare and tasteless. The waitress continued to apologize as there was mistake after mistake and the manager finally came over and gave us a 50% discount due to all of the issues. The restaurant was less than half full- - - concerning for a Saturday night!
My wife and I visited while on a business trip. We were seated by an open glass door with a view of passersby. The crowd was varied from older couples to young families and while we weren't seated at the bar it looked like a great place for a before dinner drink or as a place to enjoy dinner.
Before Lincoln Center dinner. No rose bottles of wine listed on wine list, but two roses offered by the glass. We asked if available by the bottle and then confusion ensued, one but not the other but had another, didn't know price by bottle, had to go ask...didn't quite compute to price per glass but by then needed the wine so bought the bottle!
Had mussels normandie, not frites included, just toasts.
We had a lovely brunch, there were great sweet and savory options on the menu. We had the Lobster salad and the Quiche Lorraine and both were very nice. This is a great place for a daytime date or friends lunch, lots of light and nice "french bistro" ambiance.
Solid brasserie food inn a pleasant setting in the heart of the Upper West Side , a block off enteral Park and a five-minute walk from Lincoln Center. A short. Interesting menu of casual favorites. Try the salmon or the bucatini. Skip the weird lobster burger, a small burger, topped generously with lobster meat, finally garnished with a fried egg. All on a ro,lol, making it four inches high and cumbersome. Otherwise a terrific, fun, well priced earl.
This is my "go to" place for lunch. The food is very good-I have had the Quiche Lorraine a few times, my friend just had the seafood salad. The waiters are friendly and accommodating without being overbearing. There is no out door dining but the front is totally glassed in so you feel like you are outside.
The restaurant is right on the corner of our apartment, so we have been there some times, but maybe this was the last one. We order 2 steak tartares which was not cut correctlty, they simply add a weird sauce on the top of the meat and it was a disaster. I couldnt eat mine! Definitely not our option anymore
We have eaten at Cafe Talulah many times and never disappointed. Food is wonderful and service is always attentive. Bartender knew it was our anniversary and sent over a glass of wine. Long walk for us, but always worth it. We highly recommend the restaurant.
One word: AMAZING.
We came here after work (around 5:45pm) for a 6pm reservation and were seated immediately. We had the choice of an outside table, by the open windows, or inside table, we chose outside so we could people watch. We were seated by the hostess and our water glasses were filled instantly.
We had a Groupon and our server took a quick look at it, then let us know all of our options as well as their specials. We got the complimentary bread for the table pretty quickly.
We ordered drinks and, while ordering our appetizer, our server actually recommended a nicer, higher priced app to get a better value for our Groupon...How amazing is that?!
Drinks came quickly and were amazing!! I got the Fraise Sauvage and my companion got the New York Sour. Both of them were flavorful and strong!
The app (Veggie tarte flambee) was so well done. Our entrees came almost as soon we were finishing our app.
Entrees were flavorful and heavy. Very well seasoned and done!
Our water glasses were never empty and everyone was so polite, courteous, and attentive.
I'm bringing everyone I know here, everyone deserves to eat here!!
On a 91 degree day they opened every door and window to the sidewalk. The place was empty and we literally sweated for the entire time we were there. Since it was a business meal I didn't suggest we leave immediately upon entering the sweltering restaurant. When we couldn't take the heat anymore we asked to be moved to another table which was not much cooler. I ordered an omlette which for some reason took over 30 minutes to arrive and when it came the eggs were so overcooked I ate 3 bites. My business companion did not fare much better and only ate half of her salad. To add insult to injury the wait staff actually started closing all the doors and windows when we paid the check and finally had the AC going. Was very embarrassed to have suggested the restaurant and have been spreading the word for friends to stay away.
It was a disappointing experience. We went to Cafe Tallulah for a Sunday Brunch. Two out of four plates that we ordered were wrong and had to be prepared anew (no special requests, they just made the wrong thing from the menu). We had to ask three times to get the condiments. The poached egg was really hard boiled, and the French toast was cold and dry. Also, the online menu is misleading. There was no Bloody Mary cart and descriptions of some of the plates did not match the reality, all the while having prices you might expect at a much better restaurant. I do not recommend this place at all!
