Normally this is a family favorite. We've been loyal patrons of this restaurant for many years but were there a few days ago to celebrate a birthday and - although it was Monday evening and not very busy - we had the worst service ever. And to top it off the food (normally consistent and good) was very hit and miss. People and places have their off days so I'm sure we will continue to eat here, but it's always concerning when a manager is made aware of service and food issues during the meal and does nothing to apologize or address the concerns. Such a shame.
Great food!! I love the choices and portions of food. Kind of hidden but that is part of the fun. Worth the price.
An amazing night with close friends. Stella is one of our favorite places in town, and the halibut and filet are ridiculously excellent. We have and always shall come back.
Would love more vegetarian options, but they had a few. They were delicious. Vegans should go elsewhere.
Cafe Stella hits the spot with all the right notes! A neighborhood gem with a vibrant and warm atmosphere. Cafe Stella transports you to a cozy Parisian bistro without ever having to leave Sunset Boulevard. A good go to when ever you are in town.
I was invited to join a small group for a birthday dinner and loved it so much, I returned two weeks later. The lighting, glass windows and decor created such a romantic setting. And the food was perfect, both times. Seafood and steak prepared perfectly.
This has the best Pasta in LA - the people are lovely, the atmosphere is great. They are warm and friendly. Great wine - great everything. 10/10
Always a pleasure dining here. Great ambiance and delicious food!
I have been to Stella I half a dozen times. The last couple times in the weight service has not been good and the place seems understaffed. Though it is charming this time I will be coming back. I was there two months ago and there was a price increase a dramatic price increase it makes all of the shortcomings of the place more apparent. My salmon was undercooked my rice was undercooked and dried out. The bus boys left stuff on our table. When the food was brought out it was not sufficient silverware to eat with. I had to get up and go get it. And though our waitress was very cheerful she was not around enough. It troubles me what this happened because Café Stella has been the players for a numberI have family celebrations. But not anymore.
The hostess was overwhelmed and we had to wait several minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. I had steak frites, the steak was fatty and it just wasn't worth the high price. Overall, underwhelming.
Had a first date there last night ;)
Entrees were expensive and the service was not commensurate with the price point. Nice waiter but had too many tables.
Food was excellent. A little cramped in there, but service was friendly & accommodating. Will be back
Perfect romanitic well lit French spot. Perhaps my favorite place in LA.
This is our go-to for a relaxed and sophisticated environment. The food is always tasteful and presented well. We love Stella!
Service (Alexander) was excellent! Food was very good - but also very pricey.
The staff was great, ambience was great, food was pretty good, and I really enjoy the overall vibe of the place. I go to Stella's about once a year and enjoy it every time!
Hadn't been in about ten years, but just went for the second time in as many weeks. At some point this went from being a cool locale with ok food and so-so service, to a cool locale with AMAZING French bistro food. AND really good service.
Alexander was great!
Always love this neighborhood favorite. Consistently great.
Hadn't been here in years. It was always a nice venue but with only so-so food and service. No longer. Food was outstanding, with friendly attentive service as well.
The bar is definitely a scene and great for people watching. The main restaurant is decorated well and the staff is better than a lot of other restaurants in town. The food was ok but the $38 steak au poivre was very thin and lacked both steak and poivre. For the price, I'd like to something more than 3/4" of an inch thick and maybe put some cream in the sauce. The jury's out on whether the wine pours were standard or short, though the wines themselves were pretty good. The chocolate pot de creme was the best part of the meal for me along with some very good espresso.
I'll pass and for the money, Puran's filet with peppercorn sauce hits the spot much more than Stella.
Dinner was just excellent on every criteria...Service, Food, Wine, Atmosphere....what a delight. A great French bistro you just can’t go wrong. Weekend are probably crowded but I can’t say.
My absolute favorite place for breakfast. A beautiful space tucked away in Los Angeles.
Cafe Stella and Bar Stella ROCK!
Love the food ,drinks and service.
The best in Los Angeles.
Service, ambiance, and food were excellent. Nth time dining here and it’s always a good experience. Most recently, my friend ordered four plates to share (hungry). Steak au poivre is a bit overpriced (small steak for $38) and the only rosé on their wine list was mouthwashy (the person serving us provides us a very good alternative). Recommend the beef tartare and halibut. Butter lettuce salad is good. Kir concoctions kick things off nicely. A must all aroud.
We had a great first experience. The hostess who seated us was warm and friendly, and we got a table in the indoor section that definitely mitigated the noise volume level so we were able to have a nice conversation without shouting to each other. The wine menu was extensive, and the food was traditional French and the dishes we ordered were executed well. We had moules frites, steack au poivre, and the confit de canard, and any one of us would order the same dish again. (My spouse said that he would go back for the frisee aux lardons alone). There is a parking lot next door, no small detail in this neck of the woods, that only charges $10.
All in all, a fantastic dining experience that we would repeat in a heartbeat!
The food is fabulous.. authentically French. The wine list is superb. It can be difficult to get a decent table on the weekends though.
Eclectic, friendly and most importantly - very good food.
Bar is cool, not a lot of food variety, not very exciting menu.
Great food and atmosphere. Service was good too. Just too pricey. Two appetizers and a cocktail, $78
Typical french cuisine with a great service! A neighborhood gem
Amazing French bistro
Food and service were fantastic. Food was slow to come out, but we weren’t in a hurry. It’s fairly expensive for the neighborhood, and VERY loud. Overall, we enjoyed it, but because of the price, probably won’t go that often.
Just a wonderful Silver Lake dining experience
Lovely atmosphere, experience, and food. No complaints. Sommelier excellent.
The food was immaculate and the overall ambience was also stellar. Thank you Cafe Stella!
one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles, a special gem in Silverlake for sure. This visit had some issues as they ran out of a particular dish but the waiter did his best to accommodate and make up for things. I look forward to returning again soon.
