Good eats!
I arrived and was seated right away. The server took my coat and made me feel very welcomed. The food was amazing. I started with a green olive tapenade, then had the Salmon in a lemon butter sauce with mashed potatoes and garlic spinach. I finished with a nice cup of coffee and a molten chocolate cake. It was a great experience overall.
Lovely atmosphere, delicious food. Perfect location.
I chose Cafe Soleil for Valentine’s Day because it always seemed nice from the sidewalk and it had seats available on OpenTable. I chose poorly. The food was fine, but dull, and the service was friendly but haphazard. Our seat by the window was so cold we went elsewhere for dessert. Maybe I’ll sit at the bar for lunch, but I won’t eat dinner there again.
Service was outstanding but the food was subpar.
Good service but way overpriced for what it was. Ordered the scallops and puréed potatoes, both were drowning in so much butter I couldn’t finish it.
Cafe Soleil was a very nice lunch experience in a very convenient location. Throughly enjoyable experience.
Good food options. Good for business lunch. Great service.
The food is always reliably good. What makes the restaurant special is the terrific staff and service, the lovely room and windows, and a noise level that permits real conversation.
Food is amazing but the portion is small. Beautiful environment.
We tried to order an omelette with sausage, cheese and mushrooms. We got a weird mixture of ham, peppers, mushrooms, the random sausage bit and cheese. We never got creme for the coffee. Food was decent but nothing special.
A lovely, slightly fancy place to eat not far from the food trucks and salad bars.
Very good meal, excellent service.
Except for tables being on top if each other, it was wonderful experience.
Little over price for the quality of foods served. the Christmas music was too load
It was dead but I really loved my food! It was a nice place to eat if you need to hear people talk and bond with them!
My first time at Cafe Soleil for dinner. The menu was varied enough for all appetites and health preferences. Very pleased with what I got. I loved that the muscle appetizer came with french fries! I'll definitely get that again. My colleague raved about the french onion soup. Portions are generous so you get enough to eat and my have some to take home. I got the half roasted chicken with garlic spinach and mashed potatoes. A good hearty and healthy meal. Although I was a little disappointed in the chicken. It needed a bit of seasoning and was leaning toward dry. But not a deal breaker. I especially liked the atmosphere. It was quaint and cozy. Even though the dining room is close to the bar and music plays in the background, it was easy to have a conversation. Good option when friends want to get together for a meal and actually talk to each other or when you need to have a business conversation over a meal.
if you're looking for a quiet place for a nice business or social lunch/dinner, this would be the place. The only offputting aspect is that because the restaurant is affiliated with the hotel next door, you have to go up one floor to use the restrooms. Having said that, the elevators are quick, so it's really no big deal.
One ofy lunch time favorites.
Great service from Marco and company. Good selections. Always accommodate special requests.
We had an excellent meal and the service was fast and unobtrusive
Convenient location and generally quiet. Food is hit and miss.
Very nice restaurant great atmosphere and service food was delicious
This was my first time at Cafe Soleil. I met up with a friend - she had the lamb burger and made some adjustments in the order, which were handled just right. I had a salad with chicken. We also had the green olive tapenade appetizer. The only drink ordered was an iced tea. The price tag with tip was $58 for both of us. This is about right for the neighborhood and a weekday lunch with white tablecloth, stemware, and a couple of formal wait staff. It's a bit of a splurge for me because I generally bring my lunch to work to stay within a budget, but again, it's about right for the neighborhood. Tables are a little tight and it might get noisy if it's full but it wasn't too busy when we were there. So, food was good, service was good, ambiance was good. I'll try it again and flesh our my review further with more info.
This is the third time I have eaten here. It may be the last. In the past, had been seated in the front dining room. This time was in rear, and it was dingy. Servers were much slower, and our lunch which consisted of a burger, salad and soup took a while to arrive. Further, the burger was overcooked, and cheese on top of Onion Soup charred.
Unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired I had scallops with mashed potatoes and heirloom cherry tomatoes. The scallops were good however the mashed potatoes tasted dry and old and the heirloom cherry tomatoes were cold and just stuck in a stick. A friend of mine had their ravioli that was so dry it was difficult to eat. He had to order extra sauce to make it palatable. The service was good.
Amazing food and amazing staff! We will definitely be back!!
I would not visit the restaurant if not for open table points. This is my second time in two weeks because the waiter cancelled my reservation and therefore I was able to get points!!! Food is mediocre, service is ok, ambiance is typical for a so called bistro.
We had a wonderful time and I highly recommend Cafe Soleil for any occasion. Looking forward to a return visit the next time I am in Washington, DC.
Service not great. Tables oddly configured not conducive to private conversations. Server tried to not provide credit card receipt. Gratuity added for a table of 2. Very shaddy.
Great location and service, but food mediocre to be kind.
My steak was over done, closer to medium well versus medium rare. The vegetables were not hot and the frites were also less than hot. The experience was good overall but I was a bit disappointed in the food presentation. Service was great and ambiance excellent.
This was my first visit to Café Soleil, and it was a fair / good one. The food was good, however the service was a tad slow and impersonal.
The experience was nothing special. We returned the calamari appetizer because it was overcooked and rubbery. The menu claimed it was accompanied by aioli, but whatever the soupy sauce was, it was definitely not aioli. A quaint, French inspired dining room would be better served by bistro type jazz or French music, not 80s pop songs. We will give credit for the crab, avocado, tomato stack as being a good dish, but nothing else among our entrees was inspired or a standard setter.
Food was excellent but highly over priced
We had indicated in the reservation that we wanted separate checks and upon arrival hostess/server was clueless on going about executing this - after insisting we do it it was executed well.
We wanted bread for the table while waiting for food to be prepared and we had to ask for it and only some of us were given the excuse bring it was still being heated up.
Food was excellent but highly over priced-
A huge price tag for the quality of service.
We picked this based on the menu online and the menu was completely different. Left ya with very few choices
Great ambiance. The lamb sliders were good but not memorable good. The servers were veery nice and attentive.
Server had no idea how to serve a bottle of wine. Service pace too fast or too slow. Food was good not great. Open air at the entire front of the restaurant on a 90 degree day made it very HOT at our table in the back of the room.
The food was fabulous! However, the service was lacking to some degree in that the waiter was not attentive and did not offer bread to my table or check back to see if we needed anything.
Met a friend for weekday breakfast at Cafe Soleil. Neither of us had been there before and we were pleasantly surprised. One of the chief benefits is that it is right by the Farragut metro and convenient to the bus lines. Inside the restaurant is quite charming-- definitely had a European cafe feel to it (sidewalk dining is available but we sat inside due to the heat).
Breakfast had a nice range of choices. My friend ordered the Salmon and Eggs and found it delicious. I had the French Toast and it was some of the best I have ever had. An extra bonus was that the side of fruit was fresh and plentiful. I had ordered bacon on the side which was forgotten. Comically the waiter returned with a dinner plate full of bacon-- maybe to make up for the commission? The extra bacon was very appreciated by my friend and me. We lingered over breakfast and I was pleased to see that the staff didn't seem to mind, but also the restaurant was close to empty.
I would highly recommend the Cafe and I would have given a higher rating except for two things-- the service could have been better. Although the restaurant was not busy we had to call out to staff for things like refills and to get the check. Also, as much as I hate to say it the coffee was undrinkable. Given the European flare of the Cafe and the quality of the food, this was extremely disappointing. The coffee served tasted old and bitter.
I would recommend Cafe Soleil -- I'd love to try it for lunch someday-- but I would bring my own Starbucks if I came for breakfast.
Lovely food - perfect portion sizes and nicely cooked fish and veggies but please serve more than one brand of beer.
