Like always the beat Hog Fish ok Key West!
We always enjoy dining at Cafe Sole. The food is outstanding, understated excellence and just damn good.
Can't think of a better restaurant despite years of travelling. The wine can be a little pricey but there are good choices at every level.
I read about Cafe Sole on Key West Finest FB page and made a reservation right away since we were going to be here. We timed it for the early bird special (although they don’t call it that) and we were not disappointed! The Caesar salad had anchovies with a great flavor and the Conch Carpaccio was delicious and very light! We both had the Cafe Sole Hogfish - fantastic! The side items were a wonderful blend of colors and flavors and portion size was perfect. Of course I had the amazing key lime pie while my husband had the mango sorbet. Wow just wow! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience - one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time.
One on the BEST in Key West! Great atmosphere and exceptional food! A MUST every year we come!!'
Good , nice place
I love this place! Hadn't been there in about a year and forgot how good everything is. The Hogfish is simply outstanding and the best I've ever had.
I don’t recall seeing anything beforehand that they had no liquor license. So it was wine and beer only. But that wasn’t a real issue. Wait staff was not really aware of the menu specials and couldn’t explain them. Neither were they very attentive. Given the prices and the so so quality of what we ordered I would rate the value below average. There’s better options in Key West.
Hadn't been to Cafe Sole for a couple of years, so thought we'd give the $33 3-course dinner special a try. We each chose the portobella mushroom soup, then one duck a l'orange entree and one rack of lamb (ordered medium rare) entree, and for dessert, the balsamic glazed strawberries with whipped cream and the mango sorbet.
The portobella mushroom soup was tasty but lacked seasoning, and personally, I think a little dash of sherry or brandy - offered as an option - would have upped the flavor considerably. The duck skin (a leg & thigh portion) was properly crispy, but the meat itself was not tender. The orange sauce on the side was fine. The sides (some rice, baby Lima beans, and a swoosh of mashed potatoes) were welcome, but were not hot temperature-wise, and rather bland. The rack of lamb (four rib slices) were quite a bit beyond medium rare (I was not in the mood to send it back, but probably should have), and the meat was tough and under seasoned. Accompaniments were sides similar to those served with the duck portion, with the addition of a tiny baked tomato. Again, sides were not hot, and were bland with the exception of the tomato which provided a nice little acidic kick.
The desserts were enjoyable, with the mango sorbet served in a chilled metal martini glass taking the prize for presentation and FLAVOR!!! The surroundings were amiable and service was very pleasant and attentive. Couldn't help but feel sorry for the waiters/waitresses struggling with the door between the outdoor and indoor eating areas while juggling food plates and drinks. Didn't seem to bother them, but rather annoying for us diners to watch. Surely SOMETHING can be done with that door to please everyone???
Best restaurant in Key West. Period. Best food and not the most expensive prices in town
Excellent food and great service. I can see why the Hogfish is famous. Delicious. Our waiter, Jean Pierre was terrific.
First poor meal I’ve ever had at cafe sole... we are local and go frequently. Our friends soup was cold, my salad was very nice. There were three blackened tuna dinners ..... tuna extremely overpowered , vegetables just ok. One of us had the lamb, also just ok. This was the pris fixe dinner. There is just too much better food for less money in key west for a meal to disappoint.
This is one of my favorite Key West restaurants, but unfortunately this visit wasn't as memorable as previous ones. We had dinner reservations at 8:15, but were not seated until 8:40. Also, a large party of rowdy patrons created a loud buzz in the normally quiet outside dining area. On the bright side, the food was fabulous as usual.
The waiter was great. The food was very good although a little pricey.
Excellent risotto and key lime pie to die for. Do not recommend the salmon.
The hogfish was wonderful as usual. The clam pasta was sitting in a puddle of oil.
Favorite dinner in Key West. Their signature dish, hog fish, is absolutely the best
Thank you for a really enjoyable experience. The food was amazing, the server was friendly, and very attentive. It was a lovely night overall. Would definitely return.
Love Café Sole. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Key West. I would recommend it to everyone! The food, service and ambiance are all fantastic. 5 starts plus for sure!
Five of us, four visitors, had an excellent dinner on the $33 three course menu. Three had the snapper, a specialty of the house. It was moist and perfectly sauced with a modest amount of tasty vegetables. Two had the lamb, which was succulent and cooked to a tee. The Key Lime pie was memorable.
Good food, pleasant atmosphere, friendly service. We enjoyed our evening on the patio.
The Cafe Sole has been a favorite for many years, always providing extraordinary cuisine, excellent service in a delightful atmosphere.
Very nice We try to eat there at least twice on our vacation
The BEST Hog Fish Snapper anywhere in the Keys! Service was perfect from the greeting when we arrived to when we left. This is likely to be our “go to” restaurant for special occasions and will always be our “go to” place whenever we crave the hog fish snapper.
Cafe Sole has become our “date night” restaurant when visiting Key West. It’s quiet, the service is excellent, the food is outstanding, and the ambiance is relaxed yet special in a Key West way. Our 16-yr old son joined us this time and he loved it, as well. (He is hard to fill, being a big teenager boy, but he was sated and enjoyed the place too.) The Angels on Horseback are outstanding. The Caprese Salad was a creative approach to an old favorite. And the ice cream with a little balsamic reduction on it was out of this world! We will always save at least one vacation evening for a trip to Cafe Sole.
One of our favorite Key West restaurants. Great ambiance. Inventive menu. Great execution. Consistently excellent.
Hogfish and key lime pie were rediclously good. Service outstanding. Very quaint spot, perfect for date night.
We were seated quickly in a nice booth. We ordered a Caesar salad which was excellent, The Conch appetizer was not so good, The Conch was tasteless as it was bathed in whatever juices they decided to marinate it in. Wife had the Hognose Snapper which was greasy. The sides were cold. I had the rack of lamb which was overcooked, the outside was not crispy as it should be, flavor Bland. Desserts were key lime pie which was excellent, overall I cannot recommend this restaurant.
Excellent food and service. The hogfish dinner was just right, every bit as good as other reviews jave said. Key lime pie fresh and full of flavor. Gazpacho was some of the best we ever tasted (you could have 2 bowls and call it a light dinner).
Nothing like their hog snapper anywhere! Tastes like lobster fish! Everything always fresh and delicious and attentive staff ..ask for Jason.. can’t wait to go back!
Food was very good but service provided by our waiter JeanPierre was outstanding. He helped us with wine selection bringing two samples for my wife to help with final selection. When my soup was served (by someone else) at the same time as my pasta appetizer he offered to bring it back and bring another after the pasta course was completed. Overall menu offerings were outstanding; disappointed that we are not closer to KW as there were a number of items I would love to try. Finally desert selection was also outstanding; we went with the sampler so we could taste several and they all were great.
Slow service. Very expensive. Very tight seating but nice setting. Not as attentive as a restaurant with this pricing should be. Hostess rather curt.
I have been there many times and this is the first time I left disappointed. My food was cold and over cooked and on the other hand my wife’s dinner was superb. Off night it happens.
Food was mediocre. Both the scallops and the lobster were over cooked and chewy. Vegetable was lima beans and shredded carrots which did not pair well with the lobster. Dessert was good as was the salad. Bread was dry and served with hummus which lacked flavor. Butter was not softened.
We had a wonderful time at Cafe Sole. The entire restaurant is rather indoors-outdoors, covered roof with openings. We were seated at a corner bench area. While the table next to us was quite close, we could carry on a normal conversation. I had the gazpacho (excellent and I am a gazpacho connoisseur) and my friend had the blue cheese salad as starters then I had the blackened grouper and my friend had the snapper for our mains. We also had dessert - zabayon (best I've ever had) and the Quattro dessert special. All of the food was excellent. We really enjoyed the informal atmosphere. Our server, the son of the owner, was very pleasant and helpful. I would recommend this place to locals and tourists but a reservation is required.
Everything was great!! Waiter and service was phenomenal.
On vacation. Amazing hogfish, as always.
Awesome food, wonderful service, and the key lime pie is to die for.
Everything we ordered was excellent and portions were just right. We were lucky to chat with John the owner and found our waiter Jean-Pierre to be very attentive and friendly. Our special birthday occasion was truly unique.
